Ding Dong...Trick or Treat!

One of my favorite dies from the Halloween release is the Witch Castle Door. You can make the door opened or closed and then it comes with all these cute witchy accessories.

I used Glossy Accents to add some dimension as well as some foam tape.

I also made a card with the Scooter & Tugboat die from MLS. I made a window in this card so you see the boat when the card is closed and when you open it.

A Ghostly Halloween

Good morning!

 Today I made a card featuring the Lantern Tree die from the recent Halloween release.  The pieces were cut from rustic white cardstock and colored with Copics.  To make the background I punched a 3 inch circle and placed it on the white cardstock.  Using 3 dew drop memento inks I applied color right onto and around the circle trying to give it a spooky affect.  I hope you like it.  Don;t forget to check out the new Christmas dies in the store.

Test Tube Treat Box

Good morning, Cottage Cutz fans!  It's Lorie here today to share a cute little Halloween treat gift giving idea with you.  Last week I saw this project showcased on the Splitcoaststampers website, and thought it was the cutest thing, so when I was in the big city on Monday, I stopped by the craft store to pick up some of these test tube treat containers just for this post.  When I saw the dimensions of this little box, I just knew it would be the perfect size for our Cottage Cutz mini dies, and I was right!  They fit on this box beautifully, and I can't wait to make a whole bunch of these for my sweet trick or treaters.  I don't get many Halloween visitors out here in the country, but those that make the trek will get something extra special!!  You can find complete instructions on how this box was made HERE.

 Here's a view of the finished box without the test tube, so that you can see the "Boo" that was cut from the Kara Ashley Alphabet die.  (I didn't have room for an exclamation mark, or I would have added that.)

For this crafty project I used the Owl and Lantern mini Cottage Cutz dies, and I also used the Kara Ashley Alphabet die to make the word "Boo" on the top of the box.  While at CHA last winter, I had the pleasure to meet my fellow DT member, Barry, and he taught me the handiest little trick.  Barry says that most of the time he glues 2-3 layers of cut card stock together, almost making his pieces more like chipboard.  Since most of the time, I color my cut pieces, that doesn't work for me, but I do find that especially when cutting letters, it's a wonderful technique.  It gives them dimension without needing to use foam dots, and it also gives the pieces a more sturdy construction, making them much easier to work with.  Thanks for that tip, Barry!  When you see Barry's work in person, you can really tell that he takes that extra attention to detail and turns his projects into something so special.  It's the little things, I'm tellin' ya!!!  I tell people all the time that it's all about the details!  ;-)

Clean and Simple for Fall

If you know me, you know, I'm really not a clean and simple kind of girl. But yesterday, my sister helped me get my garage cleaned out - and it felt so good, I was just in the mood to make a CAS project to celebrate - lol!

I love these trees from the Summertime Fun die set from Cottage Cutz. And, I think they look great dressed for fall too! After I assembled my trees, I added Autumn Flower Soft for my fall foliage.

Jack-O-Joke

Today I'm sharing my Jack-O-Joke card with you. "What did the Momma Jack-O-Lantern say to the baby Jack-O-Lantern.....Cut it out. "  I always love to have fun and find humor in everything, and this is my silly sense of humor coming out with this card. The punch line is hidden with a tag that hides behind the pumpkins and can be pulled out when you're ready to find out the answer.

I used the Trick or Treat Puppy die for the Momma Pumpkin. The baby pumpkin is from Spooky Treats which is one of the My Little Shoebox dies that coordinate with their paper collections.  Just a great pairing.

Sew What?

Hey Scrapping Cottage fans! Angelica here with a sweet and simple card using the My Little Shoebox designs by CottageCutz.

The thing I LOVE about co-branding is that you can always find coordinating everything.For someone just starting out in this hobby, that's important to know, because you'll know that no matter what, you'll always have something that matches. Cottage Cutz make it so easy to add that extra bit of "oompf" to your projects without spending a ton of time.

For this card, I used paper and some of the border strips from MLS' Sew Cute line (Spring 2011).
Design Tip: To create a bit of a shadow, I cut out an additional bodice for the dress form and simply offset it by just a bit. It's actually the same size as the front bodice! 
By layering journaling tags and die cuts you can punch from the collection, making a card like this is an absolute breeze (which is kinda the point! ;))!
I used a sentiment from Unity Stamp's kit also named "Sew Cute"! Don't they just fit together perfectly?

Today I wanted to share a card I made using the Cottage Cutz Halloween Collection & a Video!

A couple of weeks back I had promised to share how I did my tree in the Halloween Mini Album, so today I'm sharing a Airbrushing Video with you :) I do hope you enjoy todays video.

Halloween Accordion Flower ideas

Hey, everyone from Sunny Singapore ! 

It's October already - 

plenty of time still to create Halloween projects 

if you haven't already started.;) 

 I wanted to use some of our mini dies on a project

and thought why not together with an accordion flower idea ! 

For this rosette , I cut the My Little Shoebox Trick or Treat patterned paper 

measured at 2x12" and scored at every 3/4".

After folding the scored lines accordion style , 

I adhered one end of the folded piece to the other to create a circle. 

I cut a piece of circle about 2" in diameter to adhere over the accordion flower center 

as well as to keep it in place.

I also diecut our ornate circle frame in silver metallic paper to frame the dark circle center. 

My Frog mini diecut was cut out of coordinating My Little Shoebox Trick or Treat green patterned paper and then inked with Distress Ink in Black Soot for more depth and definition. Finally I adhered the Frog mini using a foam pad to pop it off the background. 

The finished size of this accordion flower is about 4.5" .

For this accordion flower ( finished size is about 7" in diameter ) , 

I cut 2 strips of patterned paper each measuring 2x12" and scored at every 1/4".

I  adhered each end of the  2 accordion folded pieces to each other to create my circle.

I cut a piece of circle about 3.5" in diameter to adhere on the back of  the accordion flower center to keep it in place.

I used our ornate circle frame again for the flower center ,

 this time diecutting with a silver glitter paper.

My Owl Mini was diecut out of self adhesive cardstock.

You can use these accordion flowers on wands, banners , on top of boxes - 

the possibilities of decorating them are endless too.

Silhouette Party

 It's Party Time!. . . yes . . really. This week I used Vinyl to add a little Halloween charm to this party setting.

 I started by using the Cottage Cutz Haunted House Silhouette 4x4 die to decorate a pillar jar candle. I cut the Haunted House and word EEK! from Black Vinyl. Than using the Cottage Cutz Loops 7" border die I cut two strips to wrap the candle jar. I added a strip of gold Class -a-Peels gold stickers and than the lavish jewels. 

 Using a pedestal style dish, I cut the border from the Cottage Cutz Spooky Frame with Owl 4x4 die. Using the same black vinyl. I cut two oval frames and cut them apart and ran the frame around the dish. The really cool thing about using the dies for this type of craft. . is that it is a temporary way to take clear dishes and add a seasonal touch. When the party is over. . .pull the vinyl back off and . . on to a new seasonal design. Just be sure to wash and rinse the glassware and be carefull not to get any oil from your fingers on the glass. It will create issue with sticking the the vinyl properly.

 As you can see the frame was deigned so it could be cut apart and chained together. The cuts are at the top right and the border at the base is using all four pieces. You can also use the pumpkin that cam with the die to add between the lacy strips. This really is a Build-a-Border die. I flipped the sides to connect to the spider (top of frame) and added the bat (bottom of the frame) at the end.. . than you can start back up with the sides to continue the border as long as you need it for your project.

I also had to cut a few bats to fly around the drink cups. O' and the chips I hand painted with food coloring to match the party. Ha! Ha! (not really. . they are Terra Exotic Harvest & Sea Salt Chips) You can find them in the Tree Bark section of the your local Supermarket. Blue Potatoes, Kabocha & Carrots chips. The package did say it was both a treat for the palate and the eyes! . . . No Trans Fat and No Taste (package didn't say NO Taste). .  but you must admit. . it really, really looked cool on the table.

Kabocha, a Squash. . .also known as Japanese Pumpkin, is popular

for its strong, yet sweet flavor similar to butternut squash. 

Naturally delicious and never, ever ordinary! 

Halloween Treats

What would Halloween be without treats?? I love all the fun Halloween candy and treats at this time of the year. I bought a few of these candy tubes and filled it with Candy Corn flavored M&M's, added some tuelle, twine and of course a CottageCutz die for decoration.

I used the Jack-0-Lantern w/hat die and then punched a small hole at the top of the hat and put a jump ring through so I could hang it from the twine.

So don't forget to make CottageCutz dies part of your Halloween treats.

Birthday Fun

I love birthdays. Whether my own, or our childrens, birthday are always full of color, surprise and CAKE!!! This sweet tooth sure loves a good piece of cake. Hi Everyone, Erika Taylor here today to share with you a little card I created using the Game Booth dies. This set of dies is so versatile and today I wanted to show you that you can use the game booth as a frame.

I used Pink Paislee Soiree papers and some Donna Salazar glitter to give this card a real girly feel. Then I added a dash more sparkle with Stickles. Hope you like it...

Ticket to Ride

Good morning  Today I used the ticket booth from the carnival release.  I used softer colors because I love the way Cheryl has used these dies!  I was thinking I could have made it into a baby card by stamping words that are baby related.  There are lots of possibilities when you think outside the box.  I also used the Boardwalk Carnival Silhouette die.  Here is my card.

I used the Sew Easy to punch the stitch lines and then used the blue twine to stitch them.  I inked the edges of everything with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo distress ink.  I cut our some circles of various sizes with my scissors and crumpled and inked them for the flower.  Have a fantastic day!
