Boo To You

I'm so excited to share my card double z fold card with you today...I LOVE IT!!!  I really am never sure what a project is going to be when I start and I sure was happy to see how this one came to life.  The puppy is just to cute.  I've attached him with twine where he will pull up and wish you a "BOO" but he won't come all the way out and get lost.  Nothing any sadder than a lost puppy, LOL.

Once you untie the bow a Happy Halloween sentiment is ready to greet you.

Here are all the dies that are a must to make this card...be sure to scoop yours up as I hear they are selling out.

Hugs,

It'll be OWLright!

Good Morning Scrapping Cottage friends! Angelica here and I have a sweet little card for you today that would be perfect if you need to cheer someone up!

I love this cute owl (Stylized Owl) and thought he'd be the perfect focal point against my Woodgrain background from Market Street Stamps.

I wanted him to look a little nervous so I placed the pupils closer together and towards the top of his eyes. The packaging shows them looking down.

I used just a bit of Vintage Photo and Antique Linen Distress Ink to give his little wings, eyes, and body some depth. I opted to leave the leaves off and added some Prima sculpted flowers to the side instead.

I finished off the brown cardstock piece with a bit of whimsy faux-stitching (I didn't want it to look too perfect) and a piece of "Ripe Avocado" ribbon from Papertrey Ink. The sentiment was heat-embossed with Seafoam White (Ranger) Embossing powder and is from my Night Owls set (Market Street Stamps).

This owl will be adorable on all your Halloween projects too!! I used a die cut from My Little Shoebox, and for Halloween, I could have simply layered some black behind it so it looked like he was in front of a moon!

Hope you enjoyed today's inspiration! Have a wonderful day! - Angelica

Happy H*owl*oween !

I was thinking about how to use our Broom Mini die  on a project
and when I saw this scalloped journal die cut by Doodlebug Design a little lightbulb went off.

I diecut a dark grey Owl mini from patterned paper and adhered it unto the the scalloped diecut, sitting it on the branch/broomstick.
Then I trimmed off a smaller orange owl from our Spooky Frame w/Owl die ,
sitting it on our Broom mini diecut
and viola , here's wishing you "Happy H*owl*oleen"!
These mini diecuts were sure made to be "scene" ! lol !
Hope this gives you ideas for piecing together other fun scenes
that you can think of this Halloween !

In September, we released  some darling new Christmas designs - about 15 in all !
They are shipping now !
Guess what our October release is ? -
14 adorable new designs that are Fall themed !
I'm just so thrilled to see all the new designs
that I had to whip up something Fall inspired too for today.

I started my card design here with our Halloween Lamp Post w/sign die
and cut a dark brown lamp post out of self adhesive cardstock.
Then I added a pumpkin , cut out of Crate Paper's Farmhouse pp, using the My Little Shoebox Spooky Treats die. The leaves in the patterned paper inspired me to use the Pink Peony and Orchid Flower dies, inking some of the leaves for better definition.

As always , we have a 25% savings offer when you order the entire release Bundle
This new Fall release ships Oct 17th.

Happy Hoot-O-Ween

What kind of design would an owl carve on a pumpkin? . . . an owl. This weeks Halloween card has the Cottage Cutz Classic Owl die. The owl is sitting on a branch and I added the carved pumpkin from the Cottage Cutz Spooky Frame Die along with the treat bag from the Cottage Cutz Trick Or Treat Puppy die.
I added the ghost treat bag to the owl and strung brads onto wire to create a  light string twisted on the branch. I used Stickles in Orange and Yellow on the beads to make them shine.
The owl carved jack-o-lantern is orange card stock light lighted in darker orange and mounted on a solid sheet of yellow card stock. Yellow Stickles was added to the yellow card stock on the inside of the j-o-l. . The Yellow Stickles was also added to the yellow frame edge on the card.
The lettering on the word HOOT was made from the
Cottage Cutz Kara Ashley Alpha die set.

Thanks Barry

Ding Dong...Trick or Treat!

One of my favorite dies from the Halloween release is the Witch Castle Door. You can make the door opened or closed and then it comes with all these cute witchy accessories.

I used Glossy Accents to add some dimension as well as some foam tape.

I also made a card with the Scooter & Tugboat die from MLS. I made a window in this card so you see the boat when the card is closed and when you open it.

Hope you have a wonderful fall day.

A Ghostly Halloween

Good morning!

Today I made a card featuring the Lantern Tree die from the recent Halloween release.  The pieces were cut from rustic white cardstock and colored with Copics.  To make the background I punched a 3 inch circle and placed it on the white cardstock.  Using 3 dew drop memento inks I applied color right onto and around the circle trying to give it a spooky affect.  I hope you like it.  Don;t forget to check out the new Christmas dies in the store.

Hugs and smiles,
Janice

Test Tube Treat Box

Good morning, Cottage Cutz fans!  It's Lorie here today to share a cute little Halloween treat gift giving idea with you.  Last week I saw this project showcased on the Splitcoaststampers website, and thought it was the cutest thing, so when I was in the big city on Monday, I stopped by the craft store to pick up some of these test tube treat containers just for this post.  When I saw the dimensions of this little box, I just knew it would be the perfect size for our Cottage Cutz mini dies, and I was right!  They fit on this box beautifully, and I can't wait to make a whole bunch of these for my sweet trick or treaters.  I don't get many Halloween visitors out here in the country, but those that make the trek will get something extra special!!  You can find complete instructions on how this box was made HERE.
Here's a view of the finished box without the test tube, so that you can see the "Boo" that was cut from the Kara Ashley Alphabet die.  (I didn't have room for an exclamation mark, or I would have added that.)
For this crafty project I used the Owl and Lantern mini Cottage Cutz dies, and I also used the Kara Ashley Alphabet die to make the word "Boo" on the top of the box.  While at CHA last winter, I had the pleasure to meet my fellow DT member, Barry, and he taught me the handiest little trick.  Barry says that most of the time he glues 2-3 layers of cut card stock together, almost making his pieces more like chipboard.  Since most of the time, I color my cut pieces, that doesn't work for me, but I do find that especially when cutting letters, it's a wonderful technique.  It gives them dimension without needing to use foam dots, and it also gives the pieces a more sturdy construction, making them much easier to work with.  Thanks for that tip, Barry!  When you see Barry's work in person, you can really tell that he takes that extra attention to detail and turns his projects into something so special.  It's the little things, I'm tellin' ya!!!  I tell people all the time that it's all about the details!  ;-)

I hope you like my project today, and that you're happily preparing for those little ghosts and goblins who will be visiting you!  Have a wonderful day and happy crafting!!!

Clean and Simple for Fall

If you know me, you know, I'm really not a clean and simple kind of girl. But yesterday, my sister helped me get my garage cleaned out - and it felt so good, I was just in the mood to make a CAS project to celebrate - lol!

I love these trees from the Summertime Fun die set from Cottage Cutz. And, I think they look great dressed for fall too! After I assembled my trees, I added Autumn Flower Soft for my fall foliage.

Jack-O-Joke

Today I'm sharing my Jack-O-Joke card with you. "What did the Momma Jack-O-Lantern say to the baby Jack-O-Lantern.....Cut it out. "  I always love to have fun and find humor in everything, and this is my silly sense of humor coming out with this card. The punch line is hidden with a tag that hides behind the pumpkins and can be pulled out when you're ready to find out the answer.

I used the Trick or Treat Puppy die for the Momma Pumpkin. The baby pumpkin is from Spooky Treats which is one of the My Little Shoebox dies that coordinate with their paper collections.  Just a great pairing.

Have a great rest of the week and I hope I brought a smile to your face.

Sew What?

Hey Scrapping Cottage fans! Angelica here with a sweet and simple card using the My Little Shoebox designs by CottageCutz.

The thing I LOVE about co-branding is that you can always find coordinating everything.
For someone just starting out in this hobby, that's important to know, because you'll know that no matter what, you'll always have something that matches.
Cottage Cutz make it so easy to add that extra bit of "oompf" to your projects without spending a ton of time.

For this card, I used paper and some of the border strips from MLS' Sew Cute line (Spring 2011).

Design Tip: To create a bit of a shadow, I cut out an additional bodice for the dress form and simply offset it by just a bit. It's actually the same size as the front bodice!

By layering journaling tags and die cuts you can punch from the collection, making a card like this is an absolute breeze (which is kinda the point! ;))!

I used a sentiment from Unity Stamp's kit also named "Sew Cute"! Don't they just fit together perfectly?

Thanks so much for stopping by, hope you were inspired today!
Have a fabulous week, everyone!
