Hot Cocoa Box

Hello Cottage Cutz Friends!
Melinda here with you, and today I am sharing a fun Hot cocoa box I made. I decorated it with some of the fun dies from the Christmas release. I love that you can invest in these seasonal dies, but use them well past their intended season. It is great to get a lot of mileage out of them!
Here's a look at my fun box. I used white cardstock for the base of the box. I then used some blue cardstock for the mats. From there I did all the fun stuff of decorating my box.

here is another view of my box. You can see the front is just a bit shorter so you can pull out the hot cocoa packets.

Both pieces of the box. I have to take the time to measure out the two pieces. I will update this when I do. I made SEVERAL versions before I settle on what I was happy with. I think one of these days, I need to add in some photos of what my desk looks like when I am coming up with these boxes. There is a LOT of trial and error involved before I get it right...lol. Of course that is a part of the fun of crafting, right?! Dreaming up something and having it come together. I do know the large rectangles on the left side piece are 3.5 x 5. That is the right size for the Swiss Miss hot cocoa packs.

Here is a photo of the box as I am putting the two pieces together.

Here is another picture as I am putting the box together.

Here is a picture of the base of the box as it is first put together.

Here is a picture of the bottom. I added some half beads on the bottom for the "legs". I also added some extra mats at the bottom for some extra stability.

Here is a closer look at the top. I added some of the super cute snowmen friends die to a scalloped rectangle mat. I added some pink paper and some pretty patterned paper too.

For both sides I used the scalloped rectangle and added a pink cardstock mat and some more of that pretty Doodlebug patterned paper. To that I added my hot cocoa mug with the little "steam curl" and the cookies & cocoa verbiage.

I think my little box turned out super cute and will be taking this to my office.

Be Mine Valentine Gnome

Hello and happy Monday CottageCutz friends!

Kris here sharing with you a cute slimline Valentine card I made using the Jolly Santa Gnome die from the Christmas 1 Release (which are all 30% off right now!) which I made into a Valentine Gnome ♥  I simply left off his white trim on his outfit, and exchanged the present & candy cane in his hands to hearts (from the Whimsical Hearts Slimline die) Getting creative with your dies gets you more bang for your buck!

I used some cute papers from Doodlebug Designs behind the heart cut-outs.

DESIGN STEPS:

• I die cut the Heart XO Windows Slimline die from light teal cardstock.

• I decided I wanted a li'l bit of a pink border so I cut my card base at 7-1/2" x 8-3/4" and scored the 7-1/2" side in half at 3-3/4"

• I cut each of 3 patterned papers at 2-3/4" x 3-1/4"

• I added tape behind each of the 3 patterned papers and attached to card front as pictured below (even amount of pink border around the outsides).

• I added foam strips to the backside of XO Heart Windows layer to give a bit of dimension to my card.  Then I centered onto card front.

•  Next, I die cut my Jolly Santa Gnome from white cardstock and colored with Copic markers.  I die cut just the hat from a piece of patterned paper.  I then popped him onto the middle heart with foam strips.

•  I glued some random size hearts (left overs from cutting the Whimsical Hearts Slimline die) to the front.

•  And to finish it off, I die cut "Be Mine" from the Stitched Alphabet die and popped them up with foam strips.  ☺♥

Thanks so much for peeking in today!  I hope I've inspired you to get creative with your CottageCutz dies!  Happy Crafting xo

Our Love Is A Classic - Valentine's Day Slimline Card

Hey Krafty Friends, Jen from Katahdin Krafts, back with another  CottageCutz YouTube video on the CottageCutz Channel Creating my card this week I used two dies from the "Classic Fifties" release, "Classic Car (Front)" and "Fifties Phrases #2."  I also used "Love Shadow", "Ice Cream Sundae" and the "Scalloped Stitched Rectangle Slimline" to make my Valentine.

I made this card with my personal Valentine in mind, thinking that the classic car was a perfect way to make it masculine...even though it's pink!

Remember you can find my card instructions over on the YouTube Channel!

While over on the channel, make sure you like and comment for a chance to win the "Classic Car (Front)" die!

The winner of the "Guitar, Music Notes & Records" die from my last video is C.Z., the details for collecting your giveaway prize are over on YouTube!

Ewe and Me Forever

Hello CottageCutz friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Friday edition of the Blog.

Hope you are settling in for the winter months. It's a perfect time for cardmaking, scrapbooking and other crafting pursuits. I am onto my Valentine cards. I make extra ones and let our friends pick one for their wives.

We do have some sales going on over at the online store. The Classic Fifties release is 40% off and the Christmas Part 1 & Part 2 dies are 30% off.

Now onto my card for today. I am featuring the Spring Sheep die as a Valentine themed card. This die is from the January 2022 Spring release.  So let's get started with some details of how I created my card.

Design Steps:

I started my card by selecting the designer paper. I looked through my Valentine papers and found this pretty heart design paper.

Highland Heather (light purple) Card Base:  5 1/2" x 4 1/4"
Designer Paper Layer: 5 1/8" x 3 7/8"

Next, I cut my sheep in shades of light and gray cardstock. For their furry heads I used fun flock. You can't really tell on the photo but IRL - its fluffy and adds a bit of dimension and interest.
I wanted a large heart to place them in and also for stamping my sentiment. I used the heart from the Be My Valentine Puppies (2019 release). It's still available in the online store. Stamped my sentiment with the help of my stamp-a-ma-jig in red ink.
Now that my card elements are prepared, I am ready to start card assembly. I attached the designer paper to the card base with double sided adhesive.
The heart is secured with dimensional adhesive as are the sweet little sheep.
To finish off my card I added a few heart enamel dots. That's my card for this week.

Love Recipe

 Hello Scrapping Cottage Friends

It is Pam sharing with you today!

I am making a few more Valentine cards for friends and family.  As I was looking through my stash I found this cute little Love Recipe.  So I thought I would incorporate it into one of my cards.  I found the perfect die to go with it The Christmas Baking Mice.  I love when I can use dies for a different purpose such as this one!

Designer Steps:

1.  Using the Christmas Baking Mice die cut out the pieces in the following card stock colors: pink, brown, dark brown, grey, yellow, and white.  Cut out the bowl and aprons in DP.  Shade the pieces with a coordinating ink color and a small applicator
2.  Using the Pierced Square die second from the largest cut out a black square.  Assemble the pieces and attach to the black square as shown above
3.  Use a white 6 1/4 x 4 1/4 card base
  • cut a piece of black 6 1/8 x 4 1/8
  • cut a piece of red heart DP 6 x 4
4.  Glue the red DP to the black and add the knotted ribbon.  Glue the panel to the white card base
5.  Pop up the black square to the right side of the card and then pop up the recipe
6.  Add a 3 hearts to the recipe and your card is complete
