There's a Scare in the Air!

Hello! This is Sukie and today I'm sharing a Halloween card for my design team day.  All of the products used on my card are part of the huge Labor Day sale going on in the store

I used the Lil' Bluebird Designs Home Sweet Home stamp and die set for my card and changed it up to create a Halloween theme.  I pulled out my Distress Inks to watercolor all of the stamped images.  I cut out a couple of grass strips from the Spring Grass die set.
The film strip and stars are from the Film Strip Slimline die set.  I used some Oxide Inks to ink blend the rectangles by masking off my card base.
Once I adhered the film strip onto the background, I inserted the grass along the bottom edge of each of the frames.  The little Halloween houses were placed along the grass.
I continued to build the spooky but cute scene by adding the remaining colored images.
To complete the Halloween scene, the little stars were scattered inside each of the frames.
The final touch on my card was a Halloween themed sentiment from one of the stamp sets in my stash.

Bugs And Kisses

It's Jeanne sharing with you on the Tuesday edition of the blog.  I hope you had a wonderful Labor Day weekend and got to enjoy yourself.  I got to do a bit of card making and have a fun all occasion card to share.

This card uses one of the NEW DESIGNS from Lil' Bluebird Designs at the Scrapping Cottage - Love Bugs.

I started with a sketch from Splitcoaststampers and then picked my paper in colors that went with bugs and a frog.  I love the expression on the frog's face.  He is too cute!  I stamped the images on a stitched circle and colored them using Prismacolor pencils.  Then I stamped my sentiment and cut it out using the coordinating die.  I love that the sentiments in these stamp sets have dies!  And best yet they are on sale right now!

Included in the sale are the 16 new Lil' Bluebird Designs  Photopolymer Clear Stamp Sets and coordinating dies. There are stamps for so many of your card making occasions and then some. The coordinating dies just make it a perfect fit for your card making designs.

And speaking of recent releases, the CottageCutz Sentiments with Shadows. and Slimline Dies are also on sale!

There is still time to take advantage of the Labor Day Sale at The Scrapping Cottage! Be sure to visit the online store to see what's on sale.  The sale ends September 10 at 9:00 pm Pacific time.

Heard You Caught A Bug

It's Anja here. I have a bug's card for you today. I made a hedge full of different bugs.

For this card I used:

- Cottage Cutz dies (Lil' Bluebird Designs Love Bugs Stamp Set, Lil' Bluebird Designs Love Bugs Die Set, Leafy Background Slimline),

- Faber Castell Polychromos Color Pencils,

- green card stock for die cuts,

- brown card stock for background (22x9 cm),

- white card stock for die cuts and card base (22,5x19 cm),

- black pigment ink,

- acrylic block,

- glitter brush,

- washi tape,

- paper glue.

First I stamped and colored all the bugs. I used glitter brush to emphasize the wings.

Next I cut the bugs. I used washi tape to hold the dies in place.

Then I cut all the pieces for the background. I used brown and green card stock. I cut the brown one with the paper trimmer.

Last I stamped the sentiment and cut it out.

Then I assembled the card together and my project was done.

And that's all from me for today. Before I go I want to invite you to The Scrapping Cottage online store to check the Labor Day Sale.

Have a nice week and see you again on Sunday.

Pet Sympathy Card

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Saturday edition of the Blog.

IT'S NEW RELEASE TIME! The Scrapping Cottage has just added a new brand to the company line. Lil' Bluebird Designs is being introduced with 16 new Photopolymer Clear Stamp Sets and 16 coordinating dies. There are stamps for so many of your card making occasions and then some. The coordinating dies just make it a perfect fit for your card making designs.

They are currently on sale at  25% off.

And speaking of new releases, we have just introduced new CottageCutz Sentiments with Shadows. There are 12 phrases in this new release and you can pick these up at a 25% off price as well.
The shadow dies are so popular right now and they coordinate so well with the new Lil' Bluebird Stamps and dies.

Today for your viewing pleasure I am featuring the new Puppy Love Stamp & Die Set + Hugs w/Shadow die. I used the set to create a pet sympathy card. I never seem to have one of these cards on hand when a friend or family member loses a pet. So let's get started with some details on how I created my card.

Design Steps:
Having a layout in mind at the card start is always a big boost for me. That way I can just choose the card colors and designer paper, and I am good to go. I liked this week's Sketch #869 from Splitcoaststampers. I thought it was a great layout to use several of the stamps.
I found this dog themed paper in my collection. I liked all the "dog" words and the distressed appeal of the paper. Even with the diamond shape you can still read though a lot of the words.

Maraschino red card base: 4 3/4" square
Designer Paper Layer: 4 1/2" square
Diamond Layer (Element 2) - 2nd largest Stitched Square die
Circle Layer: 3rd largest Circle Set
Next, I stamped and colored the images from the set that I was using for my card.
I cut my Hugs sentiment from the maraschino & a dark brown cardstock.
I used the following Copic markers and Prismacolor pencils for my color medium.

I used a stamp that had the words "sending big" and stamped that in the circle. Used my MISTI just in case a double inking was required and it was.
Now I am ready to start card assembly. I attached the card layers with double sided tape.
To finish off my card front, I attached the images with dimensional adhesive. The "hugs" phrase is attached with glue dots.

To complete the inside, I stamped a pet sympathy sentiment. I used the paw print from this stamp set just for a little added interest.
And that's my card for this week. I hope I have given you another idea of a different way to use these new stamps and dies. Sometimes you just have to think "out of the box". See you next Saturday.

Sweet Wishes

Happy Friday!  It's Jeanne today.  I have a card that I made for a double challenge - a color and sketch challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches. Talk about a card that went quickly!  The colors AND the layout were decided for me.

Here is the challenge.

I thought this would be perfect to showcase some of the images from the In the Kitchen stamp set.  I didn't have markers in the exact challenge colors so I used close matches in Copic markers and Spectrum Noir Tri-Blends.

Next I put the card together.  To anchor the images I used a heart stencil in the corner and faded it out as it went to the upper right.

The mixer and flour sack are glued to the card and the apron is popped up using foam dots.

I used the Sweet w/Shadow and Wishes w/Shadow to create the sentiment.

I opted not to use the shadows though in order to keep it clean and simple.  I love the new Lil' Bluebird Designs stamps and the sentiments with shadow dies.  They are so versatile and right now they are on sale in the online store.
