Keeping Things in Perspective

Hello, crafty friends!  This is Marla back with another YouTube video tutorial.  Halloween is around the corner and the new CottageCutz Halloween release is filled with both spooky and cute products. I mixed a little of each for a non-spooky slimline.

It's no surprise that I am a fan of slimline cards. I know they aren't for everyone, but let's talk about one of the reasons you should considered using them, perspective.  The dies from this new release come in a variety of sizes, but for this card two of the focal points are pretty much scaled the same.  In reality, one should be much bigger than the other and that's where a slimline card changes the visual design to allow you to stretch your products.  I hope you will head over to watch to see what I mean.

In case you are wondering, I used the "Pinking Shear Edge" Slimline die to begin building my scene.  I found it hard to choose between all the fun dies, so I used a little bit of this and a little bit of that from several dies and then some.  I included the "Haunted Ghost House", "Spooky Tree Gnome" and "Fresh Strawberry Patch" sign.  I also used the "Spooky Truck" that will be restocked soon.

I am giving away the "Haunted Ghost House" over on the CottageCutz YouTube Channel.  Please join me and while you're there don't forget to comment, like and subscribe to enter.

Until next time .....Marla

Here's Your Sign

Marla here with another CottageCutz YouTube Video Tutorial.  My card today features the "Easel Sign w/ Flowers" from the "Sweet Treats" release and the 'Botanical Garden 2" die.  This cute sign has recently been paired perfectly with the "Cake Shop" and the "Candy Cart" dies. For my card, I wanted to move it from the store front to the center of attention on my floral birthday slimline card.

You can see how this card came together over on the CottageCutz YouTube Channel and enter the GIVEAWAY for a chance to win this die.  I hope you'll join me. In the meantime, here are the CottageCutz products I used on my card today.  Until next time.....

CottageCutz Baby Lamb on Moom

Hello and welcome to the Scrapping Cottage Blog!  I am Beverly Polen from Guneaux Designs, and today I am a guest designer.  I have for you a darling card that features the CottageCutz Baby Lamb on Moon Die.  I think the baby lamb is so adorable!

The card design is a Z-Fold with ovals cut out from the first and second sections.  You can see through the ovals to the main element on the back section of the card, which is the CottageCutz Baby Lamb on the Moon.  I have not seen before a Z-Fold card with the first two sections cut out for windows to see through to the main image on the back section.  If there is no such design in the crafting world, I guess I just created a new Z-Fold card design.   LOL!

To create my Z-Fold card, I cut from white card stock the pieces from the lovely CottageCutz Baby Lamb on Moon Die.

I colored the pieces with Copic Sketch Markers, adding a touch of gray to the moon.  Afterwards, I glued the pieces together.

Using the second and third to the largest CottageCutz Double-Stitched Oval Dies, I cut out an oval and frame from white card stock.  I later colored the frame with a yellow copic marker.  I also cut a second frame with the largest and second to the largest dies and colored it yellow.

I colored the oval with two of the new Tim Holtz Oxide Ink Pads (i.e., faded jeans and broken china). I used the lighter blue for the center of the oval for the moon's glow.

Then, I cut a 10-13/16" x 5-1/2" piece of white card stock and, on the 10-13/16" side, scored at the 3-5/8" and 7-1/4" measurements.  The 3-5/8" score line is a mountain fold and the 7-1/4" score line is a valley fold.  At this point, I did not fold the card stock on the score lines until I finished additional steps.

I wanted to create the appearance of a galaxy; therefore, I sponged onto the card stock three of the Tim Holtz Oxide Inks (i.e., fossilized amber, faded jeans, and broken china) and spritzed it lightly with water.  After drying, I used a toothbrush and diluted white acrylic paint to splatter paint onto the colored card stock.

After that dried, I turned the card stock over and colored the center section with the same inks, spritzed with water, and splattered with acrylic paint.  When the card is finished, this section will be the inside center fold.

Before folding on the score lines, I placed the second largest Double-Stitched Oval Die on the first section of the card, and the third largest die on the center section, centering them as much as possible. I ran the card stock and dies through my die cutting machine.

I then folded the card on the score lines, and the following photo shows the result.

Next, I assembled the card by attaching the baby lamb and moon onto the oval previously colored and adhered it to the last section of the card.  I used an old star stamp to stamp, emboss, fussy cut, and add to this piece.

Then I added the largest yellow frame to the first section of the card and the smaller frame to the inside center section.

When the card is closed, the back middle section that was inked will show as the second section on the card.

I did not add other embellishments to the card as I did not want to distract from the "galaxy" effect on the card.  A sentiment will be added when I know who is the recipient.

I hope you enjoy this card and take time to browse the recently released baby and script design dies! The script dies are 25% off for a limited time!  Have a blessed day!

I used these two CottageCutz dies for the card:

CottageCutz Wildflowers

Hello, friends, and welcome to the Scrapping Cottage blog!  This is Beverly from Guneaux Designs, and I am so excited to be a guest designer today for the Scrapping Cottage.

I have for you a beautiful card featuring the CottageCutz Wildflowers 3 Die.  The card also features a Marbled and Ghost Stamping Technique.

Directions for creating the card:

Step 1.  Cut out the flowers from white card stock using the CottageCutz Wildflowers 3 Die.

Step 2.  Cut the largest rectangle from a piece of white card stock using the CottageCutz Double-Stitched Rectangle Set Dies.

Step 3.  Scrunch up a piece of saran wrap.

Step 4.  Put a drop or two of white (e.g., Frost White) All-Purpose Ink onto a non-stick craft sheet.

Step 5.  Dab the saran wrap repeatedly into the ink to ensure all of the saran wrap folds are covered with ink.

Step 6.  Transfer the ink by dabbing the inked saran wrap onto the CottageCutz double-stitched rectangle, leaving some white space.

Step 7.   After that dries, sponge on two or three different colors of distress ink (aqua and purple used for this card).

Step 8.  Choose a stencil of your liking and place it over the colored panel.

Step 9.  With a water spritzer, spritz three to four times a small amount of water onto the panel and over the stencil.

Step 10.  Remove the stencil right away and lay a dry piece of paper towel across the panel to remove excess water (no rubbing).

Step 11.  Watch a "ghost" of the stencil appear while allowing the panel to dry completely.

Step 12.  While that is drying, cut a 3-3/4" x 4-3/4" piece of white card stock.

Step 13.  Using a temporary adhesive to attach the back side of the piece of white card stock to a craft sheet or grid paper.

Step 14.  Lay the stencil (the one used in Steps 8 and 9) over this piece of white card stock and use temporary tape to attach it to your coloring surface.

Step 15.  Sponge the lightest ink used in Step 7 over the stencil and onto the paper.
Step 16.  Remove the stencil and let the ink dry.
Step 17.  Using the saran wrap and ink process, dab the white All-Purpose Ink onto the sponged card stock.  Let it dry and this is the result.

Step 18.  Select a piece of card stock that closely matches the lightest ink color used and cut out a rectangle frame using the two largest dies from the CottageCutz Double-Stitched Rectangle Set. This creates the following frame.
Step 19.  Turn over the frame and with an adhesive, attach the white wildflowers to the bottom of the frame.
Step 20.  Add a double layer of double-sided foam tape around the frame and where needed on the flowers.
Step 21.  Remove the paper from the tape and attach the frame to the rectangle completed in Step 11.

Step 22.  Attach the above frame to the panel created in Steps 12 - 17, and adhere to the card base.

Step 23.   Add a sentiment and embellishments as desired.

Jingle Bells!

Hello everyone,

I am here with the Scrappin Cottage blog today with another fabulous die set from the Christmas release.  I love the bells and the bow in this set.  I hope you have enjoyed so far all the beautiful designs the design team has been creating.  I know I have enjoyed seeing them.

This is a very easy card to create.  I cut all my pieces out and assembled them with glue.  I added them to my card and stamped my sentiment.  All done!

Here is how I created my card:

1.  Card base is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2
2.  The holly design paper is 4 1//4 x 3 1/2
3.  The stripe piece is 4 1/4 x 1"
4.  The square stitched white paper is from the Cottage Cutz Square stitched die set
5.  Finished off the card, by adding the sentiment with gold ink.

Closer look at the bells.

I love making Christmas cards, I hope you have been inspired to start making yours. Please stop by and join the challenge, this months theme is Fall.
