Wild About You

Happy Friday!  It’s Jeanne today with a card that is on the wild side. My card uses the Safari Friends stamps and dies from the new Lil’ Bluebird Designs release.  These designs are adorable and are on sale right now in the online store.

I was inspired to make this card by a challenge at Splitcoaststampers last week to make a jungle card!

I started by coloring the lion, hippo and zebra with Copic markers.  There are so many cute critters in this set that I had a hard time choosing which ones to use.  I cut them out using the coordinating dies.

Next I cut a piece of patterned background paper 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches so I could mount it to an A2 card.  I cut three white scalloped circles using the second smallest of the Nested Stitched Scallop  Circles.  I also leaves from two coordinating green cardstock using the leaves from the Safari Gang dies.

I glued down the two top circles, sentiment and the leaves in the lower left corner.  I love that the sentiments in these stamp sets have coordinating dies.

I popped up the lower circle and placed some linen thread underneath.

Finally I glued down all the animals and added a few metallic dots.

These new stamps are so adorable and fun to color! Be sure to check out all the designs in the online store.

Super Size Birthday

Happy Fry-day!  It's Jeanne with a quick birthday card.  I have several nephews who are of "that age" - too old for kid cards but young enough that you want a fun, lighthearted card.  This one is perfect for those guys (and girls too!)  I don't know one young man who doesn't love food and this Build-a-Burger die from the new Circus release is perfect for them!

The card is simple to create.  I cut the food pieces from white cardstock and used Distress Oxide ink in several colors to shade them.  I found I needed a few shades of yellow and brown for the bun and a couple of shades of brown for the burger patty.  (My burger here leaves off the ketchup and pickles because I don't like those on mine - LOL!) I wanted the fry box to be solid so I cut that from red and yellow cardstock.

Next, I cut a red A2 card base, a red striped panel 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 inches, a yellow strip 2 x 5 1/2 inches and a white circle using the second largest of the Stitched Scallop Circle dies.
I adhered the striped panel to the card base, then I stamped my sentiment on the bottom of the yellow strip and glued it 1/2 inch from the left edge of the card.

The fries and burger are glued onto the circle....

and I used foam tape to pop that up from the front.  This card goes together very quickly and is super cute!  I'll be sending this to one of my nephews whose birthday is at the end of the month.

I hope you enjoyed my card today!  Be sure to visit the online store where the new Circus release is on sale for a limited time!

Cocoa Packet Gift Holder

Happy Friday!  It's Jeanne today with a fun little gift idea for you!  This holder can be used to hold an envelope of cocoa or hot chocolate.  Perfect when you need just a little something or as a special addition to a gift basket.

This holder is actually quite easy to make.  I need to give a shout out to my friend Dawn, who sent me something very similar last year.  I took measurements and deconstructed it to come up with this holder.

The holder is basically a small box inside a wrap around outer panel.  To start, I'll show how to make the holder (inside shown here.)

I used kraft cardstock printed on both sides.  Alternately, you could use solid cardstock and add panels of patterned paper on the front, inside, etc.

Cut a piece of cardstock 4 1/4 x 11 inches.  Score 5 1/4 inches from both the top and bottom.  Fold at the score lines.  You should have 1/2 inch between the score lines for your box bottom to sit on.

For the inside box, cut a piece of cardstock 5 3/4 x 5 inches and score 1/2 inch and 1 inch from both the left and right sides and the bottom.

Using paper snips cut out the bottom corners at the inner most score lines.

Fold at the score lines and add sticky tape to the outer edges of the sides and bottom.

On the inside of the outer panel, match the first score line (the one 1/2 inch from the bottom on the box piece) with the upper score line on the outer wrap panel (the one 5 1/4 inches from the top) and tape down.  This forms your box bottom.

Next fold the sides and tape those to the back panel.  Your box is now complete!

For my decorations:

I cut two gnomes from red, green and white cardstock and assembled them.  I used Distress Oxide ink in Tea Dye to color their noses and face, and Pumice Stone to add a bit a shadow to their mustaches.  I used the three largest dies from the Nested Stitched Scalloped Circle dies and adhered the Hot Cocoa Tag to the smallest of the three I cut.

The Hot Cocoa Tag I glued to the box holding the cocoa packet and the largest one I glued to the inside front flap so I can write a message.

Finally, the mid sized circle and gnomes were put on the front.  I used a paper punch to punch two holes for my ribbon and tied on a small wooden spoon as an accent.

I hope you enjoyed my project today.  This holder would be great for any type of small packet - mug cakes, cider or even a soup packet as a get well card/gift!

Sweet Christmas

Hello!  This is Sukie and today I have a Christmas card to share.  For this card, I worked with the Sweet as a Christmas Cookie die set from the Christmas Part 3 die release.  It's just one of the fabulous die sets from the Christmas die releases which are currently on sale.

I used glittered card stock for some of my die cut pieces and some Stickles for the solid card stock pieces. The sparkle and shine adds a fun element to the cookies.  I also cut out a circle from patterned card stock and a Nested Stitched Scallop Circle from white card stock.
All of the papers are from my stash of Christmas themed card stock.  The colors of the striped paper were the inspiration for my die cut pieces.
Once I layered the striped paper on my card base, I added the red strip of card stock to break up the stripes. The double circles were affixed on top.
The next step in my card design process was to add the sentiment inside the circle.  The whimsical font makes for a fun focal point on my card.
A row of cookies was adhered below the sentiment inside the circle filling in all of the empty space.
The remainder of the cookies and rolling pin were added in the remaining empty space inside of the circle.
The finished card is perfect for tucking in with some yummy home baked treats during the upcoming holiday season!
Here are the die sets used on my card, available in the store:

Hope Your Day is Ducky

Happy Friday!  It's Jeanne today with a fun card featuring another adorable duck from the new spring release.
To begin I cut the duck and tub from yellow, orange and galvanized metal card stock along with vellum for the bubbles.
I assembled all the pieces except for the splashes using Art Glitter Glue.  I find that I can glue vellum using this and not have it show through! I used a multi-liner pen to color the eyes.
Next I cut a panel 4.25 x5.5 inches from yellow gingham, and strips of card stock 1.5 x 4.25 inches and 1.75 x 4.25 inches.  I used the second largest die from the stitched scalloped circles to cut a white medallion.
I stamped my sentiment on the smallest strip and glued the three pieces together.  One thing I love about checked and striped paper is that it makes it very easy to place items on straight!
I adhered the duck and the splashes to the medallion using the Art Glitter Glue.
To finish the card, I wrapped some baker's twine around the panel just above the sentiment then used foam dots to add the medallion.  I placed it at an angle as I thought this emphasized the playfulness of the duck in the tub.
I glued the panel to a white A2 card base.  I love this image and sentiment as it can use this card for a birthday or a thinking of you card - it's very versatile!

Be sure to stop by the online store where the new dies are on sale for a very limited time!
