Congratulations on a New Home
Happy Friday! It's Jeanne with Friday's edition of the blog. I have a card that would be perfect for welcoming a new neighbor or giving to a friend who just purchased a home. It features the Home Sweet Home stampsand dies from Lil' Bluebird Designs, the Circles Windows Slimline and the Congratulations w/Shadow die.
To begin this card I colored and die cut several house and trees. I actually did more but these are the ones I decided to use.I used Spectrum Noir Tri-Blend markers to color them.
My next step was to create the card base.
I cut a panel from white cardstock using the largest of the Nested Rectangle Slimline dies and the one from the Circles Windows Slimline die.
I then cut 2 1/2 inch squares from three colors of the patterned paper and the coordinating solid colors.
I also cut the sentiment from coordinating cardstock. Because the die cuts the shadow and script with one pass, I had two sentiments to choose from. I'll keep the extra with the die for future use.To get the curved ground, I used washi tape to secure the solid color squares to my die cutting plate. Then I taped my curved die to the plate so it would not move while I cut it.This gave me a nice continuous curve across all three colors! Then I adhered my squares behind the circle windows. To make sure they were even I drew a pencil line 1/2 inch up from the bottom on back of the window panel and marked the center point and sides of the middle square.
When aligning objects, it is best to start in the middle and adjust from the center as you can always adjust side to side. I added my houses.... ...and the sentiment. Perfect for a new homeowner or new neighbor! I hope you've enjoyed my card today. Be sure to visit the online store where the Lil' Bluebird Stamps are on sale for a limited time.

We've Moved
It's Anja here. I have a simple card for you today. I used one of the new stamps sets and made a neighborhood.
- Cottage Cutz dies (Home Sweet Home Stamp Set, Nested Rectangles Slimline),
- Distress Inks,
- Faber Castell Polychromos Color Pencils,
- red card stock for background (22x9 cm),
- white card stock for die cuts and card base (22,5x9,5 cm),
- black pigment ink,
- acrylic block,
- post it stickers,
- scissors,
- paper glue.
First I stamped the houses on white card stock. I used black pigment ink.
Next I colored the scene using color pencils.
Then I stamped another set of houses and other elements on the post it stickers. I cut it out with the scissors and used it as a mask. I used Distress Inks to color the grass and the sky.
Next I removed the masks and cut the scene out. I used the largest die from the slimline set. I also cut the red card stock using a paper trimmer.
Last I stamped the sentiment and cut it.
I glued all the background pieces to the card base and added the sentiment. And my card was done.

O-fish-ally Awesome
Happy Friday! It's Jeanne with today's card. Before I get to my card I'd like to let you know about the wonderful Christmas in July sale that is going on right now in the online store. You can save up to 65% on select dies!
And another big announcement - the Scrapping Cottage is now offering great stamps and coordinating dies from Lil' Bluebird Designs! I can't wait to begin coloring and designing with these adorable images. Be sure to check them out in the online store.
Now for today's card.
A few weeks back I mentioned that I had saved an extra strip of watercolored paper (click here for those instructions) and extra fish for another card. Well...here is that other card! With a few extras.I used my leftover strip and fish (I ended up using only one fish) and added a crab and jellyfish. I struggled with what color to use for the jellyfish, then hit upon using vellum. I love it because he really does look like a jellyfish!
Using the Circle Windows Slimline die I cut a panel from wood grain paper. I also used the largest of the Nested Slimline Rectangles in dark brown as a backing panel because the Circle Windows die has rounded corners and I knew these would show on the card. I cut three portholes from brushed gold cardstock using the middle of the Stitched Wide Circle Frames dies.To get everything placed I laid the wood grain panel over the dark brown and used a pencil to outline the circles. I then placed my water panel over this (it is slightly narrower than the circles so I could see the tops and bottoms of the circles), placed a frame over the middle circle and traced the center on the water panel. In this way I knew exactly where to stamp my sentiment. After gluing down the water panel, I placed the wood panel on top without adhering it. One at a time I placed my creatures underneath and gently lifted the wood panel. I marked where to place the creature in pencil where it could not be seen. This method allowed for me to place the critters exactly where I wanted them. I glued the wood panel to the base and trimmed the jellyfish tentacles (they were a bit long.) You can see here that the water strip is narrower than the height of the openings for my portholes. But not to worry, it was covered up when I added the porthole frames. Finally I used a few gems as rivets. A fun card for an awesome friend.
