Puppy Celebration

Happy Friday!  It's Jeanne today with fun birthday card for the dog lover in your life.  The card features pups from the Lil' Bluebird Designs Puppy Love stamp set and the Celebrate w/Shadow die.

I started by using a card sketch from Splitcoaststampers however as often happens I diverged from the sketch. First I flipped it and then in order to fit in all three images, I used a strip down the side instead of circles.  I stamped the images at angles to add a bit of whimsy.

To color the images I used a technique that I learned years ago.  I started by laying down a flat layer of alcohol markers.

After laying down the marker, I added Prismacolor pencils on top of the marker.  This gives nice shading and detail.

For the card, I cut an A2 base from festive, birthday themed paper and I cut my puppy strip to 1 1/2 inches by 5 1/2 inches.

When cutting the sentiment the die cuts the shadow and word at the same time.
This gave me two choices for my sentiment.

I glued the strip down the right side and added a felt embellishment that I had in my stash.  I decided to use the pink background sentiment on the card.  The other one I placed in the die package for future use.

Congratulations on a New Home

Happy Friday!  It's Jeanne with Friday's edition of the blog.  I have a card that would be perfect for welcoming a new neighbor or giving to a friend who just purchased a home.  It features the Home Sweet Home stampsand dies from Lil' Bluebird Designs, the Circles Windows Slimline and the Congratulations w/Shadow die.

To begin this card I colored and die cut several house and trees.  I actually did more but these are the ones I decided to use.

I used Spectrum Noir Tri-Blend markers to color them.

My next step was to create the card base.

I cut a panel from white cardstock using the largest of the Nested Rectangle Slimline dies and the one from the Circles Windows Slimline die.

I then cut 2 1/2 inch squares from three colors of the patterned paper and the coordinating solid colors.

I also cut the sentiment from coordinating cardstock.  Because the die cuts the shadow and script with one pass, I had two sentiments to choose from. I'll keep the extra with the die for future use.

To get the curved ground, I used washi tape to secure the solid color squares to my die cutting plate.  Then I taped my curved die to the plate so it would not move while I cut it.

This gave me a nice continuous curve across all three colors!

Then I adhered my squares behind the circle windows.  To make sure they were even I drew a pencil line 1/2 inch up from the bottom on back of the window panel and marked the center point and sides of the middle square.

When aligning objects, it is best to start in the middle and adjust from the center as you can always adjust side to side.

 I added my houses....

...and the sentiment.  Perfect for a new homeowner or new neighbor!  I hope you've enjoyed my card today.  Be sure to visit the online store where the Lil' Bluebird Stamps are on sale for a limited time.

Thanks A Latte

Happy Friday!  It's Jeanne today with a thank you card for the coffee lover in your life.  In my case the biggest coffee lovers I know are ME and my husband!  I drink it all day long and even have an espresso machine. Naturally I love the new Coffee Time stamps and dies from Lil' Bluebird Designs.

For this card I created my own patterned paper by stamping some of the images at random on a piece of 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch Crumb Cake cardstock.  I say random, but it wasn't completely.  I knew I was going to highlight one of the coffee cups so I needed to make sure at least one was off  center and did not overlap the edge.  To fill in the space between the cups I used the coffee beans.

For my color on this card I chose red.  I colored one coffee cup using Prismacolors and then die cut the Thanks w/Shadow sentiment in coordinating colors.  I used Soft Suede, a brown that is slightly darker than the Crumb Cake.

I stamped the sentiment Thanks A Latte slightly off center on my card using black ink.  I wanted to make sure it stood out from the background.

Then I added my sentiment with shadow on top.  This makes a strong focal point and covers the top line of stamping nicely.  I had originally planned to mask off the sentiment but this works just as well and is easier!

Finally I popped up my coffee cup using foam dots.

This card can be made in any color and would also look great on white with pastel colored images stamped in the background.

Be sure to visit the online store.  The big Labor Day Sale ends tonight September 10 at 9:00 pm Pacific!

Bugs And Kisses

It's Jeanne sharing with you on the Tuesday edition of the blog.  I hope you had a wonderful Labor Day weekend and got to enjoy yourself.  I got to do a bit of card making and have a fun all occasion card to share.

This card uses one of the NEW DESIGNS from Lil' Bluebird Designs at the Scrapping Cottage - Love Bugs.

I started with a sketch from Splitcoaststampers and then picked my paper in colors that went with bugs and a frog.  I love the expression on the frog's face.  He is too cute!  I stamped the images on a stitched circle and colored them using Prismacolor pencils.  Then I stamped my sentiment and cut it out using the coordinating die.  I love that the sentiments in these stamp sets have dies!  And best yet they are on sale right now!

Included in the sale are the 16 new Lil' Bluebird Designs  Photopolymer Clear Stamp Sets and coordinating dies. There are stamps for so many of your card making occasions and then some. The coordinating dies just make it a perfect fit for your card making designs.

And speaking of recent releases, the CottageCutz Sentiments with Shadows. and Slimline Dies are also on sale!

There is still time to take advantage of the Labor Day Sale at The Scrapping Cottage! Be sure to visit the online store to see what's on sale.  The sale ends September 10 at 9:00 pm Pacific time.

Sweet Wishes

Happy Friday!  It's Jeanne today.  I have a card that I made for a double challenge - a color and sketch challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches. Talk about a card that went quickly!  The colors AND the layout were decided for me.

Here is the challenge.

I thought this would be perfect to showcase some of the images from the In the Kitchen stamp set.  I didn't have markers in the exact challenge colors so I used close matches in Copic markers and Spectrum Noir Tri-Blends.

Next I put the card together.  To anchor the images I used a heart stencil in the corner and faded it out as it went to the upper right.

The mixer and flour sack are glued to the card and the apron is popped up using foam dots.

I used the Sweet w/Shadow and Wishes w/Shadow to create the sentiment.

I opted not to use the shadows though in order to keep it clean and simple.  I love the new Lil' Bluebird Designs stamps and the sentiments with shadow dies.  They are so versatile and right now they are on sale in the online store.
