Birthday Cupcake!

Good Morning Scrapping Cottage Friends!

We have a  Mother's Day Release available in the online store now.  There are 22 fantastic dies!  These dies are so adorable and can be used for other occasions so don't miss out!  Today, I am using the cupcake for a birthday card!
Design Steps:
 1. Using the Mother's Day Cupcake die cut all of the pieces of the cupcake out using pink, green, white and yellow card stock
 2.  Assemble the cupcake as shown above, I colored the heart and small flowers with my markers
 3.  Use an A2 card base, cut a 4 1/8 x 5 1/4 piece of white card stock and run it through the swiss dot embossing folder, cut a piece of striped DP 3 x 5, cut a strip of pink card stock 1/8 x 5 and a piece of dotted DP 1/4 x 5
 4.  Using the Scalloped 2 1/2 inch circle die cut a circle on the striped DP 1 inch from the top.  Glue the 2 strips to the embossed white card stock as shown
 5.  Glue the DP with the scalloped circle cut out to the embossed card stock as shown
 6.  Using foam tape pop the cupcake to the center of the circle
7.  Using white foam sheets that have adhesive on the back run it through the machine using the Expressions Happy Birthday die.  Adhere the Happy Birthday to the front panel just below the cupcake.  Then glue the embossed panel to the card front

Mother's Day Release Design Team Samples (Part 3)

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit today. We are sampling DT cards from the Mother's Day release.

There are 22 dies in this release that includes 3 Mothers Day phrase dies. All the other dies could be used year round for a variety of occasions.
We have had a good response when we do a group post on a new release. It gives you the opportunity to see more card samples from the Design Team. So we are continuing that again this month.

There are 4 samples for today and later in the month, we will post another set of 4 samples. Plus the design team will be featuring these dies in their posts over the next couple of weeks.

Card 1: This first sample is from Anja Zurga. She used the hat box w/flowers die and created a cake. Love her creative thought process on this one. Notice how she spread embossing paste on the sides to resemble frosting.
By using the scallop circle die it draws your eye right to the image. This would work as a birthday card or even a wedding card.
Card 2:  The next sample is another from Anja. On this super sweet card she used the Mama Kangaroo & Joey and Love You Mom dies. The card she created could be used for an anniversary card or just to let that special someone know you care.
The joey (baby kangaroo) was replaced with the heart and love you phrase. The pink heart paper really completes this design.
Card 3: The next sample is one from Lois Bak. She also used the hat box w/flowers die to create a beautiful card for Mom. It's a type of card that could have been used for Mother's Day or anytime during the year you want to send some love to Mom. The layout is from the Splitcoaststampers sketch #696.
Card 4:  The last sample for today is one that I created using the Bouquet of Tulips die. The card colors are from this week's color challenge #687 on Splitcoaststampers. Even though this die is part of the Mother's Day release, it can easily be used for any other type of card.
I hope the samples shown today have sparked some ideas for alternate ways to use these new dies.  They are all so beautiful and the detail in all of them is amazing. We will have one more group post the end of this month using these dies.

Tag Trio

Hi, Lois here with something other than a card today.  Some time ago I bought some tags at Hobby Lobby and have yet to use them.  Today is the day I pulled them out to show off another one of the newly-released Mother's Day release at CottageCutz, Flowers for Mom.

I started by cutting all the die pieces from a scrap of white cardstock.

Because I wanted a variety of colors on my tags, I thought white would be the way to start.  Using many Copic markers, I colored all the pieces.

I constructed all three flower arrangements, using the die packaging as my guide.

I took out my three tags . . .

. . . and using sponge daubers, added some color around the edges of the three tags, matching the color of each pot/vase.

I strung some baker's twine through the holes of the tags and glued on the flower arrangements.  Here again are my three tags.  This was a rather quick and easy project.

Happy Mother's Day

Hi!

It's Anja with you on this Sunday. It's Mother's Day today and I made another Mother's day card for this occasion. I used beautiful new dies from Mother's day release. The orchid die is so great and it offers so many different possibilities to decorate your cards.

For this card I used:

- Cottage Cutz dies (Happy Mother's Day Phrase, Orchids),
- Zig Markers (Numbers: 043, 046, 050, 051, 060, 062, 065, 260),
- craft card base (10,5x15 cm),
- white watercolor paper for background (10x14,5 cm),
- watercolor paper for die cuts,
- Gansai Tambi watercolors (Numbers: 90, 36),
- rose gold embossing powder,
- Versamark embossing ink,
- heat gun,
- scissors,
- paper glue,
- foam surface for embossing,
- embossing tools,
- water spritzer,
- watercolor brush,
- brush.

First I die cut the sentiment and tapped it in embossing ink.

I used rose gold embossing powder and heated it with the heat gun.

Then I die cut the orchids. I use Bristol paper when I color with watercolor markers.

Before I glued the orchid together I used embossing tools to add a little dimension to the flower.

Then I started with the background. I cut 10x14,5 cm watercolor paper. I used Gansai Tambi colors and put it n my glass surface, using a brush. I stretched the color withe the water spritzer.

I tapper the paper on the surface. I did it repeatedly. When I was satisfied with the pattern, I dry heated it.

I did the same with the other, gold color. Here I also made a bunch of color drops at the end. I again dried it with the heat gun.

When the paper was dry, I used the scissors for the edges.

I did the same with the front of the card base.

When I had everything prepared, I glued the cad together. And this is the result.

Have a nice Sunday, celebrating with your moms. I'll see you again in a week.

Take care,
Anja Z.
