Elegant Wedding Card

Hello friends. It's Janet from SugarShine Designs. I hope you are having a great week! It's the middle of the summer wedding season so I thought I'd make a wedding card using some beautiful CottageCutz dies you can find in the store. Click below for the video tutorial showing how this comes together.

This is a 5" square card that features the Bride & Groom die on the front in holographic white card stock. I just love this simple but beautiful lacy die that is so smart, it cuts out the groom's bow tie so it can stand out. Very elegant! The couple is attached to a 4.75" square black embossed card stock that is lifted off of the card base with a 4.5" square of fun foam. This is a great way to get a little lift but not make it so thick that it can't be mailed. Across the couple, I placed another die called Tweet Love. It includes the Love sentiment and also two "tweet" little birds. I thought the birds were too big for my design but they are cute! I saved them to decorate the envelope. As a substitute, you could choose the new Love Expressions die or give it a slightly different twist by picking Celebrate, Adore, Dream, Cherish, etc. The pretty script in those dies would match the elegant feel of this card perfectly. To finish the front, I used three metallic flower sequins and white gems.

Inside I used the largest square from the Stitched Square set and added the lacy Balloon Bouquet die in the same white holographic paper as the Bride & Groom on the front. The balloon die is super versatile. It would work for any elegant celebration from birthdays, parties, weddings and anniversaries.

Prayers

Hi, Lois here with my card for today, which could cover several needs.  I am part of a group of ladies at my church called Prayer Angels.  We each pick a name of one of the group out of a hat and become that person's "Prayer Angel."  We offer prayers for her throughout the year and send cards of encouragement.  A card similar to this one would fill the bill perfectly.  Or . . . it could be used as a sympathy card.   Unfortunately, we all need those occasionally.  I used three different CottageCutz dies on this card, including one of the new Expressions Plus dies.

To begin my card I cut a piece of purple cardstock 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scoring it at 4 1/4".  I also cut a piece of green cardstock 4" x 5 1/4" and a piece of coordinating pattern paper 3 7/8" x 5 1/8".

Then I cut the cross/vine, the Prayers phrase, and the rounded rectangle panel from various colored cardstock.

Using Ranger Distress inks (Bundled Sage and Antique Linen) as well as a dark yellow Copic marker, I added some dimension to the die-cuts.

I then constructed my cross and vine, attaching the flowers with mini brads.

Because I was going to stamp an additional sentiment in black ink, I decided to shadow my "Prayers" Expressions Plus sentiment with black.  To make the adherence process easier, I had run the panels of cardstock through my Xyron X sticker maker prior to cutting out the words.

I then stamped the small sentiment in the lower right-hand corner of the pale green rectangle, added the cross/vine, which were popped up with foam tape, and constructed the rest of my card.

Dream under the Stars

It's Anja here. I'm a big fan of camping. Always was, always will be :) I would easily trade a five star hotel for sleeping under the stars. I hope I will be able to go camping for a few more days this summer.  And here is my camping card.

For this card I used:
- Cottage Cutz dies (Campfire Clothesline, Dream Phrase, Grass Tress & Vines, Pierced Circle Set, Spring Bunny w/ Flowers),
- Distress Inks (Chipped Sapphire, Faded Jeans, Black Soot, Stormy Sky, Seedless Preserves, Fired Brick, Walnut Stain, Wild Honey, Forest Moss),

- Craft card base (15x15 cm),

- white card stock square (14,6x14,6 cm),

- watercolor paper (two 14,2x14,2 cm squares),

- white card stock for die cuts,

- white acrylic paint,

- paper glue.

First I cut and colored the backgrounds. I used Distress Inks. I shaded the first one from outside in and the second one from bottom to top. I started with lighter colors and then added darker shades. Over the black I shaded with blue and purple again.

Then I sprinkled a few water drops over the colored background and made some little stars with the brush and white acrylic paint.

When the backgrounds were drying I die cut all the other pieces, colored and glue them together.

I colored the pieces as usually and them shaded them with Walnut Stain Distress Ink to make them look darker around the edges.

In the end I just glued all the pieces together. The tent in the front and all the camping equipment inside the card.

~ All About the Journey ~

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Saturday edition of the Blog.
Hope you are continuing to enjoy all the different cards from the DT using the new Expressions Plus word dies. The team has shown some really creative ways to use these word dies with your existing collection of dies. With 35 different word phrases, there is so much you can do with them in your own card making.

I have been showing you over the past several weeks how to combine word die phrases with a stamped sentiment. Check out my cards here, here, here, here, here and here.  I am continuing with this series today as well.

I needed a card for my good friend who is battling cancer. I send her cards regularly and today she had a good report from her doctor. So I wanted to make one that dealt with her journey. She has quite an amazing attitude and a fighting spirit. 

So I decided to use the Journey Phrase and I thought the Bicycle in Grass dies would work well together. And I would combine that with an appropriate sentiment. So let's get started with some details on how I created my card.

Step 1: White Panel size: 3 7/8" x 4 5/8"
I stamped my sentiment in a teal ink. I taped off the word Journey since I was using the Expression Phrase die for that word. I lined it up with my stamp-a-ma-jig. 

Then I masked the sentiment off and taped down the brick wall stencil. I used 3D embossing paste.

I like using this paste with stencils because it gives whatever you are stenciling some dimension.  Set this panel aside to dry.

Step 2: While the embossing paste was drying I cut the grass and place on the bottom of the panel. I decided not to use the grass that is part of the bicycle die. I wanted something that would extend across the image panel. I used the Spring grass die and cut it in a garden green cardstock.

Step 3: I die cut the bicycle in a pomegranate red cardstock. The birds are part of the die so I cut 2 in the medium-blue and adhered them over the red birds.
The journey phrase is cut 2x because I like the words to pop and putting two of them together gives nice dimension. I used a teal cardstock here.
And, last is my butterflies. They are cut in a medium blue-green cardstock and matching designer paper. I used the butterflies from the Fancy Pocket Plus and Angled Pocket dies.

Step 4: The embossing paste was dry enough to begin the card assembly. My layering panels are a medium blue-green cardstock. Size: 4 3/4" x 4". The card base is teal cardstock. Size: 5" x 4 1/4". 
I attached the bicycle using Ranger multi-medium matte adhesive. Just dabbed it on in a few places and then placed it behind the grass.

The Journey Phrase and butterfly is attached with the same adhesive. Added a few small pearls to the butterfly body.
