Hello There Kitty

Hello Cottage Cutz fans!  It's Jeanne with the Saturday edition of the blog.  I am loving the new Slimline dies - they make creating slimline cards a breeze.  For my card today, I used the Nested Stitched Rectangles, the Hills Slimline along with the Cat in Spring Window die to create a bright all occasion card.

I love slimline cards, but I have a lot of patterned paper that is only 6 x 6 inches - way to short to cover the card!  And I'd love to use my embossing folders but they don't cover the whole card either.  So today, I have design tips that will allow you to use both of these from your stash!

I started by cutting and assembling the adorable Cat in Spring Window.  (You may have noticed I usually make a gray kitty - this is because we had one for years! So Andreya shows up on many of my cards.)

Using the largest Stitched Rectangle I cut a rectangle from white cardstock and a partial rectangle from the 6 x 6 inch patterned paper.

Using an embossing folder I embossed as much of the white panel as possible.

I placed the lavender panel over the white panel along with my sentiment and window so I could decide where I would place the Hills die to cut my curve.

After it was cut I glued it to the white panel covering the plain side. Then added my phrase and window.  I used foam dots for the window box to give some dimension.

I love the stitching on the Stitched Rectangles and Hills dies. They give a cohesive and polished look when combining panels on a card.  The stitching goes all the way around the card and the added panel has a nice finished look to the curved edge. Any of the Hills dies will work for this giving a variety of looks!

Missing You

Hi!

It's Anja here. I have another card for you today where I used one of the Springtime Release dies.

For this card I used:

- Cottage Cutz die (Cat in Spring Window),

- Distress Inks and Oxides,

- craft card base (15x15 cm),

- water color paper for background (14x14 cm),

- white card stock for die cuts,

- black pen,

- embossing ink,

- white embossing powder,

- clear stamp (bricks),

- acrylic block,

- heat gun,

- brush,

- scissors,

- pencil,

- sentiment stamp,

- black pigment ink,

- paper glue.

First I cut and colored the cat and the window.

Then I started on the background. I embossed bricks on the water color paper using white embossing powder.

Next I colored around the bricks using grey Distress Oxide. I dried the paper with the heat gun.

Then I used scissors to distress the edges of the background paper.

I also cut a piece of white paper in the size of the window. I used a pencil and scissors to cut the right size.

Last I did the sentiment. I stamped it on the white paper with black pigment ink and cut it out with the scissors.

Last I combined all the pieces on the card base and my card was done.

Have a nie Sunday and see you again next week.

Anja Z.

May your day Bloom with Happiness!

Hello!  This is Sukie and today I'm sharing a slimline card for my design team post.  I created a cheerful scene with several of the new Springtime die sets.  These dies are currently on sale too!

I lightly inked a stencil to create a subtle look of brick in the background.  Next I created the Spring themed scene by adding die cuts from the Cat in Spring Window and Spring Bicycle at the focal point of my card.  I had to do a bit of creative fussy cutting and ink shading to give the bike a unique look.  The Bunny Tree Cottage die set added the oversized tree, the partial tree branch, the grass and mushrooms to the scene.  The fence pieces are from the Picket Fence Border die set which were trimmed down to fit on each side of my card.
Here are the die sets used on my card, available in the store:
