A Sweet Hello

Hello!  This is Sukie and today I'm sharing a card using one of the sweet birds from the Cottage Cutz Beach & Tropical die release! There are so many fun dies in this new release I've been having a blast creating with them!

I created an ink blended background, with only one color on the entire card panel.  My card base was then splattered with water.

The toucan paired so well with the pretty hibiscus flowers, I decided to cut out an extra flower for my card. All of my die cuts were shaded with Oxide Inks.
Next, I masked off my card panel and splattered it with some paint at an angle.  I also hand cut a couple of flags. The sentiment was heat embossed on the solid flag.

I adhered the cluster of hibiscus to the background of my card.  I love how the bold colors pop against the yellow!
The sweet bird of paradise was perched up on the patterned flag.  The grouping of hibiscus are so pretty with the coordinating toucan.
The sentiment tag and a few enamel dots were the finishing accents on this tropical card making for a fun way to say hello!
Here are the die sets used on my card, available in the store:

Good Vibes and Hugs

Good Monday morning!  It's Jeanne today with a card that goes back to the 60s using the new Beach and Tropical dies.  I just couldn't resist using the Surfer Van die with this stamp that says "Good Vibes"! They just naturally went together!
Growing up in a beach city in Southern California during the 60's I saw my fair share of surfer vans, so I tried to make this one in the colors I remembered.  And of course there had to be a peace sign!

The sentiment reminded me of Beach Boys songs so I went with a 60s album cover theme for this card.  It is a 5 1/2 x5 1/2 inches and uses a patterned paper for the background sunburst.

I normally would not put three sentiments on a card but in keeping with the record theme, I wanted an album title, a group name and a song.  To me "Life is Beautiful" is the song, but I'm not sure if the group is "Hugs" or "Good Vibes Only"!

I had fun researching 60s album covers on Pinterest.  The hand drawn Good Vibes and the stitched Hugs fit right in with the era.  And I was able to find an old 45 to put in my background!  (It's from the Columbia Record Club - my dad was a member!)

I'm not sure who will get this card.  I have several music lovers in my life so I may have to make a few more!

Hello Hello Hello

Hi!

It's Anja here. I have a simple card for you today.

For this card I used:

- Cottage Cutz dies (Pirate Ship, Lighthouse),

- Distress Inks,

- craft card base (15x15 cm),

- white card stock for die cuts and background (14x14 cm),

- plastic stencil (clouds),

- sentiment stamp,

- black pigment ink,

- acrylic block,

- paper glue.

First I cut and colored the ship and the lighthouse.

Next I did the background. I colored the cloudy sky with a plastic stencil. I used Distress Inks for the sea.

I assembled the card together and added the sentiment for the finish.

And this is the finished card.

Have a nice Sunday and see you again next week.

Anja Z.

The Beach Life

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Saturday edition of the Blog.

We have a brand new release of Beach & Tropical dies in the online store. We have 14 new designs in this release and they are currently on sale for a limited time at 25% off.

They are so perfect for creating beach themed birthday cards, thank you, thinking of you etc. Let your imagination soar! The Design Team has been showing some great samples to spark your creativity. If you haven't seen them, look back on the Blog for lots of eye candy.

For my card today, I am using the Surf Shack die and I created a thank you card for my son. He lives at the beach and is a surfer so this card is perfect for him.
He just sent us a new television. Not that we were looking for one but now that it's here we have to decide where to put it.
We already have a wall mounted set in our living room and we aren't sure we want to mess with taking it down. But we will figure something out.

Design Steps:
I started off by die cutting the surf shack in various colors of card stock. You could also cut in white and color with your favorite medium.
Next, I started creating the background. For the clouds I used a cloud stencil and tumbled glass distress ink. I cut this image panel from white cardstock at 4 1/2 x 5 3/4"
For the water, I used salty ocean distress inks and the sand was sponged with crumb cake ink
For added interest, I stamped some sand granules with a caramel ink.
And then stamped The Beach Life sentiment in a denim blue ink. I used my MISTI and stamped the sentiment 3x to get a darker image.
Now that all the elements are prepared I am ready to start card assembly. I added the Surf Shack images onto the beach background. Everything is secured with double sided tape and Ranger multi medium matte. I used double sided tape to attach the image panel to the white card base.
Card Base:  4 1/2" x 5 3/4".
That completes my card. I hope I have given you some inspiration for a way to use this die. See you next Saturday!

Sunshine and Pink

Happy Friday!  It's Jeanne today with another tropical card.  I love the sentiment on this card - probably because I love the sun and I love the color pink!  I used the Flamingo with Hibiscus and the Tropical Bouquet dies from the new release. Tropical Bouquet is one of my all time favorites!  It features two flowers I love; hibiscus and plumeria.  On today's card I used the plumeria.  They are gorgeous, easy to create and add a special touch to any card!
To start I cut the flamingo using Flirty Flamingo cardstock, as well as a light pink and grey.  For the black pieces, I colored the light pink pieces with black Copic marker.
For my flowers I went into my scrap box and got several colors of pink making sure I had a variety of tones.  The plumeria have two layers - a larger bottom layer and a smaller top layer.   After gluing these two together, I used pink ink to brush the edges and added the black centers.  Super simple and very elegant.  I used the DO ink to edge my flamingo.
I cut a panel 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches that will be adhered to an A2 card base, and three other panels.  A white one 5 1/2 x 2 5/8 inches, a pink 5 1/2  x 2 3/4 inches and a yellow dot 5 1/2 x 2 inches.
Using a stencil and yellow ink, I created a sun for under the flamingo on the narrow white panel.
I stamped my sentiment and assembled the layers.
I added my flamingo, flowers and a few sequins.  Super easy card and perfect for anyone who loves pink, flamingos, flowers or sunshine!

Background Photo by Bart Zimny on Unsplash

Design Steps
1.  Using the Sloth die cut out the pieces using 2 different shades greens, 2 different shades of purple, yellow, black and 2 different shades of brown
2.  Using the largest Pierced Circle die cut out a white circle.  Assemble the sloth and flowers using a fine tip glue.
3.  Place some pop dots on the back of the sloth and then pop him up on the white circle
4.  Arrange the greenery around the sloth and then pop up the purple flowers.  Add small white dots to the sloth's eyes using a white gel pen
5.  For the base of the card use an A2 white piece of card stock.  Cut a piece of purple just slightly smaller then the white base.  Then cut a piece of purple flowered DP slightly smaller then the purple card stock.  Glue the purple card stock to the white card base and then glue the DP the purple card stock.  Using the largest Stitched Scallop Circle die cut out a purple circle. Also cut out of the purple card stock 2 Thinking of You with the Expressions die
6.  Glue the purple scalloped circle to the upper have of the card as shown.  Next add the white circle with the sloth on it.  Last glue the 2 Thinking of You together and then glue to the card as shown and your card is complete
