Hi! Janja is with you today to share a card created with a few spring dies.
Let's take a closer look at the card I created.

- CottageCutz dies: Spring Teapot & Cups, Spring Bowl w/ Eggs, Coffee & Donuts, Nested Stitched Doily Set
- white card base: 5.3 x 5.3" (13,5 x 13,5 cm), folded
- colored cardstock
- colored ink pads
- white crystal drops
- glue, double-sided adhesive tape, self-adhesive foam pads

Cut a teapot, two cups, and a bowl from colored cardstock. Fill the bowl with donuts.

Trim a piece of white cardstock. Lay a cardstock on a scoring board and create a few fold lines on it.

Now color a cardstock with Distress Oxide pad.

To add some texture, spray the cardstock with water and emboss it with a lumber folder.

Left and right paste a patterned paper and cut the background with a square die. The size of the square is 4.9 x 4.9" (12,5 x 12,5 cm).
Unfortunately, the relief becomes slightly flattened while cutting with a die. It would be better to use a paper cutter.

Cut out a napkin and a strip of white cardstock. Stamp a sentiment.

Completed card.

Imagine Summer

Hi!

It's Anja here. I made one last Summer card for this season, before I move to Autumn and Christmas cards.

For this card I used:
- Cottage Cutz dies (Surfboard 1, Flipflops, Happy Fish 2, Circle Set, Clouds & Sun, Imagine Phrase),
- Distress Inks and Oxides,
- craft card base (10,5x15 cm),
- white and craft card stock for die cuts and background (9,5x14 cm),
- black pen,
- brush,
- scalpel,
- pencil,
- double sided wide tape,
- scissors,
- sand,
- paper glue.

First I cut and colored the flip flops- I cut two pairs of bottom for more dimension.This time I used Distress Oxides for coloring.

Next I cut the sun.

And then the fish. I used black pen for the eye.

I did the circles and the sentiment next. i used craft card stock for the sentiment. And I used blue ink for the edges of the circles.

Then I cut a surfboard and used it as a stencil to cut another from the white card stock. I used this one as the bottom of the surfboard. I then cut one more with the die.

I had three surfboards cut and I colored It with Distress Oxides. I only used smaller pieces of the red surfboard to insert it in the yellow one.

Next I did the sandy beach. I taped double sided paper on the card stock and then put sand (I brought it from my vacation and stored in a jar) on the other side. I cut a piece out for the card using scissors.

Then I used a scalpel and cut a piece to insert the surfboard.

Last I did the background. I used a brush to make some waves with water.

And when all that was done I glued all the pieces together and my card was done.

Mad Hatter "Unbirthday Cake"

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Saturday edition of the Blog. 

The new release of Birthday dies have been restocked in the online store.  So if you didn't get the ones you wanted previously, all 25 designs are in stock. This release is filled with cute little whimsical animals, birthday cakes, cupcakes and birthday phrases. Everything you need to create some outstanding birthday cards.

Today for your viewing pleasure, I am featuring the Mad Hatter Cake die. In case you aren't familiar with the story of Alice in Wonderland, she attends an "unbirthday" party.

Alice at first doesn't realize what an un-birthday is; when the Mad Hatter explains it to her, she realizes it is her un-birthday as well, and receives an un-birthday cake from the Mad Hatter.  Everyone has one birthday a year so all the other days are your un-birthday! My friend's daughter loves everything with an "Alice" theme. So I think I am going to send this to her.

So let's get started with some details on how I created my "un-birthday card".

Step 1: The sketch #765 over on Splitcoaststampers caught my eye.  It would allow me to use designer paper and the center panel is perfect for my mad hatter cake image.

I looked through my designer papers for one that would fit with the fantasy world theme of Alice in Wonderland. I found this paper and I thought the quirky design would work. It's from the Playful Palette collection by Stampin'-Up. I used the coordinating cardstocks for my card base and layering panel.

Black card Base: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Sweet Sugarplum layering panel: 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"

Designer Paper: 3 7/8" x 5 1/8"

Next I cut the Mad Hatter Cake image using coordinating and complimentary cardstocks- berry burst, sweet sugarplum, peek-a-boo peach, dapper denim and emerald envy. 

For element 3 of the sketch, I cut black cardstock 1 1/2" x 5 1/8". For element 4, I used the 2nd largest (3 1/8") stitched square die and cut in sweet sugarplum cardstock. For element 5, I used the 2nd largest circle set die and cut in very vanilla cardstock. 

Step 2:  I am ready to start card assembly. I secured the panels with double sided tape. 

Attached the square and circle with double sided tape. On the mad hatter cake I used dimensional adhesive to lift it off the circle slightly. That always adds a bit of depth to your card. 

Since I wanted this to be an Un-Birthday card, I had to get a bit creative with the sentiment. I used the Happy banner from the Festive Birthday Greeting die and then computer generated my Un-Birthday phrase. 

To complete my card, I attached the panels to the black card base and added a few hearts for interest. 

That's it for me for this week. Hope I have sparked an idea for a way to use the Mad Hatter Cake die.

Bluebird of Happiness

Hi!  It's Jeanne sharing today.  We've had bluebirds in our yard recently and they inspired me to make this card.

I love this chubby little bird who started off as a cardinal but ended up as a bluebird.   I used the Jolly Cardinal and the Christmas Floral # 1 dies to cut the bird and leaves in white cardstock.

Distress Oxide inks and a sponge dauber were used to color the pieces.

I cut three panels - one 4.25 x 5.5 inches and two using the second and third largest of the Stitched Rectangle dies (I love these dies - they are SO useful!)  I also cut a strip of patterned paper 4.25 x 1.5 inches from striped designer paper.

I embossed the large panel using a leaf pattern folder that coordinated with the die cut leaves.

I centered the stitched panels on to of each other and adhered them together.  I glued the bird down by placing the glue mainly in the center and leaving the edges unglued.  This allowed me to tuck the leaves under the bird.  I cut apart one of the leaf branches so the I had a little more variety.  The bird was placed high on the panel to leave room for the sentiment.

The sentiment is heat embossed in white and popped up using foam dots.  I started by thinking this would be a birthday card, but it really could be for any occasion.  This little cardinal is so cute and just by changing his colors you can make him into many birds - think robin, canary, sparrow.....
