Party at Penguin's Igloo

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Saturday day edition of the Blog.

Today, I am featuring the Artic Penguins & Igloo die. It's from our latest Artic Animals release. There are 13 new designs in this release and each one is so versatile for a variety of card making and giving occasions.

I needed a birthday card for my adult niece who celebrates at the end of the month. I had some great winter themed designer paper and I thought it would go well with the penguins and igloo. She loves penguins so this card is perfect for her. Let's get started on some details of how I created my card.

Design Steps:

I started off by cutting the penguins and igloo images. Cut the penguins in a light gray cardstock and then sponged the edges for more definition. I added scarves to the penguins just for a bit more flair. The idea came from DT member Janja on this card. I cut the scarves in shades of blue that match the designer paper.

My card is a bit larger than what I normally make. This one is a 5 3/4" square. I didn't want to cut too much off the designer paper because its so beautiful. I didn't have any 12 x 12 cardstock to create the card base so I used the hinged technique to get the size I needed. Check out this blog post for a tutorial on the technique.

In order to get the placement for my sentiment I attached the igloo using double sided tape. I stamped in navy ink.
Next, I attached the penguins using dimensional adhesive. Then I added the image panel to the blueberry card base with double sided tape.
I wanted to add something else to my card so I decided to finish it off with a few snowflakes using the Peppermint Latte die. I added wink of stella to give it a bit of sparkle. It just doesn't photgraph well but irl I got the sparkle I was looking for.
Well, that's it for me for this week. See you next Saturday. I have a Valentine card planned using Gnomes from this year's Christmas collection. Have a great weekend!
