Nativity Screen Divider Card

Hello CottageCutz friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Friday edition of the Blog.

It's new release time!!! We have new dies in the online store. It's time for our Christmas release and we have 21 new designs for Christmas Part 1. They are currently on sale for 30% off retail.

There is a great selection of religious, whimsical and some super cute birds and animals. All of your Christmas card making ideas are covered in this release. Today for your viewing pleasure, I am using the new Nativity Stable Shepherd & Animals, Nativity Holy Family & Wisemen &  Nativity Camel, Palm Tree & Angel dies.

I have another fun fold card and this one is a screen divider card. I thought this fold and dies I used tell the Christmas story across the four panels. So, let's get started with some details of how I created my card.

Design Steps:

I started this card by getting the screen divider cut and scored. The red panel measures 5 1/2" x 11" and is scored at 2 3/4", 5 1/2", 8 1/4". I put a pencil mark at 1 3/8" on the first panel. This is the center of each panel and where I will place my punch to cut the base of the screen card.
There is a notch on the punch that I aligned with the pencil mark I made. I will make this same punch across each panel.
I folded the first punched panel back on itself to use as my guide for cutting. I forgot to take a photo of this in the red cardstock. I was going to use blue cardstock originally and then changed my mind.
I used this same method to cut the other 2 panels. It made lining up the cuts so much easier using this method.
Next, I cut the image panels. I found this starry night designer paper in my collection and decided to use it as the backdrop for my Nativity images.

white layering panel: 2 5/8" x 4 7/8"
designer paper layer: 2 1/2" x 4 3/4"
Now for the images I am using. I cut all of them from white cardstock. I like the contrast against the dark blue background.
For the image panel sentiments I used the Silent Night Forest die. and Joy to the World Tree die (Christmas 2019 collection). I also cut these in white cardstock.
The last panel is a stamped sentiment. I cut with the 3rd largest Oval die (2 3/8" x 1 3/8") To complement the sentiment I added a Christmas Star from the Journey to Bethlehem (Christmas 2018) die. I cut in yellow cardstock and added some wink of stella.
Now that the images, sentiments and panels are prepared, I am ready to start card assembly. I attached the images with a combo of dimensional adhesive and clear drying glue.
This is an A2 size card does fold flat for mailing. It fits in the regular size envelope I mail my cards in.
For the back of the card, I added white cardstock to two of the panels and stamped 2 additional sentiments. Scattered a couple of red glitter enamel dots and this card is finished. I hope I have given you an idea for a way to use these new nativity dies. See you next Saturday!

Two Cards One Die

Hi, it's Marla back again with a new CottageCutz YouTube video.  The Christmas Part 1 release is live and I for one am excited to play with some of the amazing dies in this release.  I love creating Christmas cards and can always count on CottageCutz to come up with some of the sweetest designs.

When I buy new products, I try to think of multiple ways that I can use them. I want to get the most use out of my products.  When I saw the "Christmas Tree Peekers" die, I imagined so many ways I could use the peeking Santa and reindeer with some of my other CottageCutz dies.  Today, over on the CottageCutz YouTube Channel I am sharing two of the designs to help you get your creative juices flowing.

I don't want to forget to mention that I am also giving this die away, so head over and watch to enter the GIVEAWAY.  I've linked all of the CottageCutz products below that I have used on my cards for easy shopping.  Until next time.... Marla

Ho Ho Ho

Hello Scrapping Cottage Friends

It is Pam sharing with you today!

We have a NEW RELEASE FOR AN EARLY START ON YOUR CHRISTMAS CARDS!!   The collection is Christmas Part 1 and has 21 fantastic dies. The release includes everything from Gnomes to Reindeer!! Check it out HERE it is on sale now!!

The die I am creating with today is Jolly Santa Gnome!  I made a mini Slimline with this cute little guy!  My inspiration come from a card created by Francine Vuilleme. I loved her idea and had to give it a try!

Design Steps:
1.  Cut out all the pieces using the Jolly Santa Gnome and card stock in the following colors: red, green, brown, black, and flesh.  For the Ho Ho I used the Ho Ho Friends die and cut 2 Ho's in white card stock
2.  Before assembly shade the pieces in black for the Santa and brown for the little shoulder basket.  I added a little blush to the nose.  Glue the pieces together using a fine tip fast drying glue
3.  The card base is white card stock measure 3 1/2 x 6 1/2 when folded.  To add a little contrast in the background I used light blue ink with a soft blending brush.  Just enough ink to pop the HO HO

4.  Glue the HO HO to the background as shown above then add the gnome santa using pop dots.  Your card is complete

Wintery Village Book Fold Card

Happy Monday crafters!  Kris here with a special card I made for my mom this Christmas.  The newest CHRISTMAS RELEASE has me in full on Christmas card mode! I am not one to pick just one design and mass produce my Christmas cards each year.  Instead, I like to make each one unique ... although I admit, it does make picking whom gets which card a li'l difficult!  LOL!  But I always have made a "special" card for my mom - something that took a li'l extra love and THIS is that card!

This is a version of the Pop Up Book Fold card, with the addition of a window scene and I'm going to show you how I did it with the photo tutorial below.  You can always click on the picture to see a larger version.  For those who prefer a video tutorial instead, check out this one by Ann Melvin.

Products I Used:

Additional:
Gold foiled snowflake design paper, 12"
Light Pink cardstock, 12" (Bazzil)
Gold foiled cardstock (Recollections)
Pink glittered cardstock (Park Lane)
White glittered cardstock (Park Lane)
Snow-Tex

Design Steps:

Pink Cardstock:  CUT at 6" x 12" and SCORE in middle at 6".

White/gold snowflake paper:  CUT at 11-3/4" x 5-5/8" and SCORE in middle at 5-7/8".

I then measured in 3/4" on all 4 sides and placed a pencil mark, then I lightly drew lines between each intersecting point to make a large rectangle.

I then CUT on the longest lines and SCORED on the shortest lines.

On the short ends, I measured in 1" from the score line and SCORED between the cut lines.

Next, I measured along the longest edge and placed marks at 3-1/4" at top and at bottom.  Then I turned my paper 180 degrees and did the same at the other end.  Then I scored from the edge just down to the cut line on all 4 marks.

Now it's time to fold and burnish!  Use the photo below for reference.
Top & Bottom:  Outer score lines are valley folds, middle is a mountain fold.
Middle:  Outer score lines are valley folds, next one in is a mountain fold, and the middle is a valley fold.

I then used the 2nd largest of the Pierced Circle Set and cut a circle from the middle of each "book" panel as shown.

From gold foil cardstock, I die cut 2 of the largest die from the Pierced Wide Circle Frame Set and added glue to the outer edge of the backside of gold circles and attached as shown.  Set aside.

I cut 2 pieces of pink glittered cardstock at 4" x 5" and attached about 1/16" on each side of the score line, and so that there's equal amount on top and bottom as shown.

I then cut 2 of the Wintery Village die.  Then I cut small pieces of gold and glued behind the building and lanterns.

I cut 4 hills for my scenes.  Two of them are a li'l shorter and narrower than the back two, which are cut to 5" wide.

THE FUN PART (and slightly messy! Lol)

I added Snow-Tex to the roofs and trees of my villages.

I then built my scenes by gluing the larger hills to the pink c.s. and I added foam tape behind the front hills.  I also added foam dots behind the li'l buildings in front

I cut 2 more short hills from the white glittered cardstock and attached behind my circle window panels.

Next, I folded my inner (white snowflake) piece and lined it up with the left side of cardstock so it doesn't stick out of the card.  Then I put double sided tape JUST on the short edge and the 2 adjoining sections up to the first score line as shown.  Then folded the right side of card over onto it.

I die cut 2 of the Silent Night Forest die and from one of them, I cut the li'l deer out and attached just behind the front hill.

Next, I created a belly band to help hold my card together as it's pretty thick!  This is completely optional, especially if you're putting in an envelope.

BELLY BAND:

I cut a gold frame using the largest from the Nested Scalloped Rectangles then, I cut a window from the middle of it using my paper trimmer.  I added 1/8" foam strips all along the backside to pop it up.

I wanted my scene on a li'l bit larger piece of cardstock than the inside of my frame, so I cut a piece on my trimmer and attached the Silent Night Forest (I did trim some off the left side so it would fit)

I attached the frame to top.

I CUT a strip of gold cardstock at 2-1/2" x 11"
I CUT a strip of white snowflake patterned paper to 2-1/4" x 10-1/2"
I attached the patterned paper on top of the gold and wrapped it around my closed card (not too tight!)

I then added tape to each end of the band and placed my Silent Night Forest piece on top.
