Christmas Farmhouse Floral Card and Mini Gift Bag Set

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! I'm so glad you stopped by. Melinda here with another fun project! Today I am sharing a pretty card and little gift bag set. It features the fabulous Farmhouse Christmas die. It is one of the new dies in this month's new release. Now is the perfect time to pick them up! They are 30% off and they are FANTASTIC! Here is my project. I created this pretty card and little gift bag set. It is the perfect set for a co-worker or teacher gift. It features the Christmas Farmhouse Floral die. 

The card is an A4 top folding card. The base is from black cardstock. I cut a mat from some plaid digital paper I created. I then used the largest Double-Stitched Oval die from the Nesting die set. It is part of Cottage Cutz Basics line of dies.

I then cut the Christmas Farmhouse Floral die from some white cardstock. I set about coloring all of the images. I picked up some markers on Amazon to give them a try. I then used some of my chalks to blend the colors.

I then used this sponge applicator to ink some dark gray ink all over. This gave the can some pretty good texture.

Here is a closer look at all the beautiful foliage and flowers you get with this one die! I layered the poinsettias and then added some touches of stickles and scattered some sequins for a little extra bells and whistles. Of course I finished off the can with a cute little organza bow.

Here's a look at just the little bag. I created the file for the little bag. I cut it out of some black cardstock. I used some more of the plaid paper I created to cut a mat for the front and back of the bag. It matches nicely with the card. I used another double stitched oval die from the set and then created a couple of mats. I layered that all underneath another of the beautiful Christmas Farmhouse Floral die set.

To finish off both of them, I added a sentiment to the smallest scallop stitched rectangle from that basics set. 

Here is one last look at the set. I think it turned out super cute and it was simple enough, that you can re-create it in multiples.

Joyful Snowman Interactive Card

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to visit with us today. It’s Theary Chea, and I am so excited to be here today on the blog. I am such a fan of the winter season, and the recent release has just put me in the holiday mood. I am sharing a fun interactive card that was made using the Joyful Snowman die set. So, Let’s get started!

Design Steps:

I cut out the images from white cardstock and colored them in with Copic markers. The markers that I used are listed below:

Snowman: W6, W4, W3, W1, W0, E37, E31, YR21, YR14, BG18, BG75, BG09

The letter J and the letter Y: R89, R59, R39

 Poinsettias: R29, R39, YG99

(The photo shows the letter Y colored in green, but I did change it to the color red on the final card.)

There are four layers to my card.

1. For the card base, I used white cardstock cut down to 4.25” x 5.50”
2. The red card layer measures 3.75” x 4.75”
3. The vellum sheet was cut with the largest Nested Stitched Scallop Rectangle Set
4. The white card front was cut using the Double-Stitched Rectangle Set

The card front:

For the background, I used hybrid ink in a combination of four colors. The colors that I used are mustard seed, broken china, prize ribbon, and black soot. I like to use a blending brush to help with the blending process when I am ink blending.

 I then used white and gold paint to splatter onto the card front.

For the ground, I used a hillside border die and cut that out of white cardstock. I also use the same nested stitched rectangle die to cut it down to size. I’m am doing this because I want to have the same stitched border all over the card front. 

I wanted to add a little bit of interest to the hillside cutout. So, I used a snow pen to create a snow effect. I love this technique because it gives the card front a lot of drama without doing a lot. 

Then, I adhered the snowy hillside and the letters onto my blended card front using liquid adhesive, making sure to leave space in between for our cute snowman.

So for the fun part! I attached the cute snowman to an action wobbler. If you’re unfamiliar with an action wobbler, it is the mechanism used to create movement (wobble) on your card front. The action wobbler is used to create the interactive effect. I attached one side of the action wobbler to the snowman and the other side to the card front. 

I also added a black sentiment strip from my stash on the bottom corner of the card front.

Isn’t it so cute! 

Then, I used a snowflake embossing folder in my stash to emboss the red layer. I also went over the embossed area with white ink. Applying white ink over your embossed areas is a great trick to create extra interest in your card. 

Now, to assemble the card.

Using liquid adhesive, I adhered the top card front to the vellum piece that I cut out using Cottage Cutz Nested Stitched Scalloped Rectangles Die. Then, I used foam tape to adhere the card front to the red embossed layer. And finally, I adhered everything down onto the side folding card base. 

I love adding dimensions and layers onto my cards, and I hope you give some of the techniques that I share a try.

Trio of quick and fun cards

Good morning Scrapping Cottage fans. This is Wendy bringing you the blog today. I hope you’ve had a wonderful week and are looking forward to a weekend of crafting.

I have 3 cards for you today as they are fairly simple to make and use quite a few of the new designs from the Christmas release 

All of the base cards measure 5” x 4” and are layered with the largest of the ‘Nested Stitched Scallop Rectanglesp’. For the Santa and penguin cards I have created snow, grass and used the largest ‘Stitched Rectangles’ to cut the backgrounds to size

I have fallen in love with this Santa from the ‘Ho Ho Ho Santa’ die. Isn’t his reindeer super cute. I used the ‘Slimline Hills’ to create the background. I added some small white dots with a white pen to give the effect of snow 

Now we come to the ‘Penguin Decorating the Tree’ die. I created a cloudy background using the ‘Slimline Clouds’ to make a stencil. For the base I used the Slimline Grass’. I added some pine cones from the ‘Christmas Farmhouse Floral’ to finish the card off 

Finally we come to the ‘Ice Skating Kids’ die. For the ice i coloured certain areas and then used a clear glitter pen to make it shiny. The hills have been created using the ‘Snowy Mountains’ from an older release.

Slimline Nativity

Hello Scrapping Cottage Friends

Our new release for Christmas is available for purchase today!!  It has 40 darling dies that would make gorgeous cards, gift tags or toppers for a gift bag.  In this new release there are 4 beautifully detailed slimline dies perfect for those of us who love making that style of card.  Today I am using one of them called the Slimline Nativity w/Wisemen.

Designer Steps:

1.  Using the Slimline Nativity w/Wisemen cut out a piece of gold foil card stock

2.  Cut your base slimline I used a 3 1/2 x 8 1/2 base in kraft card stock.  Cut a piece of snowy DP 3 1/4 x 8 1/4.  And finally for the frames I used the Nested Stitched Rectangle Slimline.  I layed the largest one down on my cutting surface and then evenly tucked in the second from the largest and cut.  I did this twice to create a more sturdy frame and glued them together

3.  Glue the snow DP to the card front next add the Nativity scene and last add dimension strips to the frame and pop it on

4.  To make the flowers I used the Christmas Farmhouse Floral die.  I used white card stock and cut 2 of the larger ones and 3 of the smaller ones.  I cut the centers out of the gold foil card stock.  Also cut out one of the branches of leaves in green card stock.  To give the flowers a little curve I used my stylus and some foam.  Rub the backs of the flowers then flip over and push down in the center

5.  Arrange 3 flowers in the right corner of the card.  And place one in the upper left corner.  To finish the card stamp your sentiment in VersaMark and emboss with gold powder

Holiday Ice Skates

IT'S NEW RELEASE TIME! The new Christmas dies are in the online store with 40 new designs and they are on a limited time sale at 30% off. It's not too soon to get started on your Christmas cards. 

Today for your viewing pleasure I am featuring the new Holiday Ice Skate Floral  and the Merry Christmas w/Snowflakes dies.  So let's get started with some details of how I created my card. 

Design Steps:

I started my card this week with the colors from the Splitcoaststampers color challenge #864. We were to use real red, bermuda bay and black for the color trio.

Optional was to use something weathered. I went with a distressed designer paper. 

Red card base: 4 1/2" x 5 3/4"

Medium brown layering panel: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Designer paper panel: 4 3/8" x 5 3/8"

Next, I cut my ice skates and the floral images in the challenge colors. 

I cut the Merry Christmas sentiment in red. I decided to cut it 2x to give more dimension to my card. 

Now that all my card elements are prepared, I am ready to start card assembly. I attached both layering panels to the card base using double sided tape. 

To attach the images I used a combo of double sided tape, glue dots and art glitter glue (my new fave -it dries clear). I scattered a few bermuda bay sequins and my card is completed. 

I hope I have given you a fresh idea on a way to use this new ice skate and sentiment die. And, remember they are both on sale.
