Birthday Puppy

Hi!

It's Anja here. I made another birthday card this week. This time I used cute puppy die and some Distress Oxides for the background.

For this card I used:
- Cottage Cutz dies (Birthday Puppy, Fall Phrases, Circle Set),
- Distress Inks (Antique Linen, Brushed Corduroy, Vintage Photo, Stormy Sky, Shabby Shutters, Mustard Seed) and Oxides (Twisted Citron, Faded Jeans),
- Craft card base (10,5x15 cm),
- white card stock for die cuts,
- water color paper for background (10x14,5 cm),
- black pen,
- white pen,
- water spritzer,
- heat gun,
- brushes,
- washi tape,
- paper glue.

First I cut and colored the puppy.

Next I cut and colored the sentiment.

And the I started with the background. I used water color paper. First I cut a circle out of a waste paper and attached it on the background with a piece of washi tape. Then I started coloring around with Distress Oxides. I used make up brushes for coloring and blending.

Next I removed the cut circle and softened the edges of the circle, again with the brushes and Distress Oxides.

Then I used the water spritzer to add water drops for more interest. I used heat gun for drying.

And when I had all the pieces cut and colored I arranged it together and glued it on the card base. I my card was done.

And this is all from me for today. I wish you all a lovely Sunday and see you again next week.

Anja Z.

Ballerina Mouse Birthday

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Saturday edition of the Blog.

The new release of Birthday dies have been restocked in the online store. So if you didn't get the ones you wanted previously, all 25 designs are in stock. This release is filled with cute little whimsical animals, birthday cakes, cupcakes and birthday phrases. Everything you need to create some outstanding birthday cards.

Today, I am featuring the Ballerina Mouse die. I needed a birthday card for a little girl turning 3 and I was invited to the birthday party. So let's get started with some details on how I created my card.

Step 1: I found this interesting sketch #762 on Splitcoaststampers this week. I thought it would be a good layout to feature this new die and allow me to use designer paper, a birthday number balloon and a stamped sentiment.
I wanted the papers to be girly and I found this designer paper with shades of pink, teal and cocoa. I used the coordinating cardstocks as layering panels.
Cocoa Card Base: 4 3/8" x 5 3/8"
Pink Layering Panel: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
Designer Paper: 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"

I cut the ballerina mouse in a light gray (smoky slate) and her outfit in 2 shades of pink (pretty in pink and pink pirouette). Her ballerina slippers are cut in teal cardstock.
For the number balloon. I used the Stitched Numbers die and the streamer is from the Ballerina Mouse die.

For the circle elements of the sketch, I used the Circle (4th largest), Stitched Circle (4th largest), Double Stitched Circle (5th largest) and the Sweetheart Doilies (2nd largest) dies. The sizes fit my image and sentiment well.

Step 2: I am ready to start card assembly Next, I stamped my birthday sentiment. It's a one liner but with the help of my MISTI and masking I changed it to 3 lines. I stamped in teal ink.
Attached the designer paper to the pink layering panel with double sided tape.
Next I secured the ballerina to the circle layer with double sided tape. I am using the #3 balloon as element 5 of the sketch. I just moved it to the other side.
Then I added the sentiment circle.
I thought I was finishing off my card by attaching the cocoa card base and adding enamel dots to the sentiment circle. But I thought it still need something to balance the lower left corner.
So I cut the balloon bunch from the Festive Birthday die.
Still wasn't quite right for me.  I thought I needed something on the top left. I couldn't add any enamel dots because of all the dots on the designer paper. So I cut the happy phrase from the festive Birthday die in teal cardstock. And my card is complete.

Well that's it for me for this week. I hope I have given you an idea for a way to use this sweet Ballerina Mouse die. See you again next Saturday.

Never Too Old

Happy Friday Cottage Cutz fans!  It's Jeanne today sharing a very easy birthday card.  This card uses two dies from the new birthday release that are are both gender and age neutral.  These dies can be used for ANYONE!

It also features a sentiment that is great for anyone who likes to have a good time.
I started by picking two coordinating designer papers in bright colors.  I cut an A2 card base from  Rich Razzleberry, a panel 5.5 x 4.25 inches from the polka dots, a panel 5.5 x 1.625 inches from the chevron pattern and a strip 5.5 x .375 inches from the Razzleberry.
I used white card stock for my die cuts and colored them in a combination of Copic markers and Stampin Blends to match the colors in the designer paper.
I stamped the sentiment in black on a piece of Pumpkin Pie card stock and use the second smallest of the Nested Wacky Stitched Rectangle dies to cut it out.
After I adhered all my panels together, I glued the sentiment panel in the upper right.
Then I could place my cake and presents.
I'm trying to increase my stash of ready to go birthday cards so I'm not making them at the last minute.  These dies are perfect for that!

Strawberry Cupcake

Hello Scrapping Cottage Friends

I am on a cupcake roll!  This is another cupcake from the birthday release.  I am in love with all of them.  I put a group shot of the 3 cupcake cards I have made at the bottom of this post.  I think they would make an adorable gift set.

Designer Steps:
 1.  Cut all of the pieces out of white card stock using the Birthday Cupcake w/Strawberry
2.  Color all of the pieces with your favorite markers.  Then glue the pieces together
 3.  Use an A2 white card base cut a piece of dark red card stock just slightly smaller then the card front.  Cut a piece of strawberry DP 4 x 5 1/4.  Glue the strawberry paper to the dark red card stock.  Cut a piece of green polka dot DP 1 1/2 x 5 1/4.  Layer it onto dark red card stock
 4.  Glue the green polka dot strip to the bottom section of the strawberry DP and add the ribbon
 5.  Using the Cross Stitch Circle die the 3rd from the largest cut a white circle.  Place dimension tape on the back of the cupcake and add it to the circle
 6.  Put dimension tape on the back of the circle and pop it to the card as show below
7.  Take the whole panel and glue it to the white card base.  Add some glossy dots and your card is complete
