Birthday Mouse & Cupcake

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Saturday edition of the Blog. 

We have a brand new release of Birthday dies in the online store. There are 25 new designs and they are currently on sale at 25% off. This release is filled with cute little whimsical animals, birthday cakes, cupcakes and birthday phrases. Everything you need to create some outstanding birthday cards.

Today, I am featuring the Birthday Mouse Cupcake die. I needed a birthday card for a 4 year old boy and these new images are perfect for kids as well as adults. So let's get started on some details on how I created my card. 

Step 1: I selected my designer paper first this time around. I wanted something festive with balloons and presents, and I found the perfect pattern in my collection. The card base is an 1/8" longer and wider than an A2 card. I wanted more of the card base to show around the designer paper.

Pacific Point (royal blue) Card Base:  4 3/8" x 5 5/8"
Designer Paper Layer: 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"
Pumpkin Layer: 2 11/16" x 3 11/16" (2nd largest rectangle die)
White Image Panel: 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" (3rd largest stitched rectangle die)

Step 2: Next, I cut the mouse and cupcake image. I used the colors from the designer paper and then added a couple. I wanted to keep it more on the boy side with the colors. I used pacific point for his shirt, lemon-lime twist for cupcake holder, pumpkin for icing and choc chip for cupcake.

I stamped my first sentiment at the top of the image panel. It was a bit too long for the panel so with the help of my MISTI, I stamped on 2 lines. The first stamping was a bit light so without moving the stamp I reinked and stamped again. That's the great thing about a MISTI, it allows you to stamp an image multiple times.

Since I didn't want the images "floating in air",  I decided to cut a flag in pacific point cardstock and stamp another sentiment. I used the MISTI again just in case I needed a 2nd stamping and it turns out I did.

Step 3: Now that all the card parts and cut and stamped, it's time to start assembling. First, I attached the designer paper to the card base with double sided tape. 

Next, I attached the image panel to the pumpkin layer. 

For the images, I used dimensional adhesive. I wanted them lifted off the panel for added interest and dimension. 

To finish up my card, I attached the image panel to the card base and again I used dimensional adhesive. I cut a few streamers with the Festive Birthday Greeting die in pumpkin and red cardstock and scattered them on the designer paper.

Pink is More than a Color

Happy Friday!  It's Jeanne today with a card for that special pink-loving girl in your life.  When I first saw this die it reminded me of my girls when they were small and taking ballet.  And they loved pink!

I started by cutting the pieces from white, light pink and dark pink card stock.   I used Distress Oxide inks in Pumice Stone and Tattered Rose to color the ears and mouse.  I used a Copic marker in dark grey to color the balloon strings.

Next, I worked on the sentiment.  I stamped it in Melon Mambo ink using my Mini-Misti.  While it was still in the Misti I stamped over the pink with Versamark ink.

Then I used a holographic embossing powder to emboss the sentiment.  It REALLY sparkles!  Hard to capture in the photos.

Because I wanted to offset this sentiment in the heart, I stamped it in a landscape orientation (see above photos) so when I cut it out I had room to adjust for placement.  I used the largest of the Stitched Heart dies.

I made an A2 card base from Melon Mambo card stock and cut a 4 x 5.25 inch panel from a pink patterned paper.

Since the strings on the balloons are so fine, they needed some stabilization as did the mouse's head.  I used foam dots on the back which provided support and also allowed me to pop her up from the card base.

I glued the heart to the card and popped up the ballerina.  Finally I added a few sequins for extra sparkle.

Cherry Cupcake!

Hello Scrapping Cottage Fans!

It is Pam creating with you on the blog today.

The Birthday Release has really given me the opportunity to stay ahead of all the birthdays I have coming up.  There are a number of sweet yummy cupcakes in this collection and each one of them lends itself to some bright cheery colors.

Designer Steps:

 1.  Using the Birthday Cupcake w/Cherry die cut all the pieces out in white card stock

2.  Color all of the pieces with your favorite makers.  I added score lines to the cupcake bottom and glossy accents to the cherry.  Glue all of the pieces together after the Glossy Accents is dry

 3.  Use a white A2 base card. Cut out a green piece of card stock just slightly smaller then the white card base. Then cut a piece of red checked DP 4 x 5 1/4. Glue the Red checked DP to the green card stock and then glue to the card front

 4.  Cut a piece of cherry DP 5 1/8 x 2 1/2 and then layer it on top of green card stock. Make 2 small banners with DP and adhere to the top of the cherry panel.  Add a ribbon and that panel is complete.  Glue the panel to the front of the card just slightly left of center as shown above

 5.  Cut a piece of green card stock 3 1/4 x 2 1/2 and run it through a dotted embossing folder.  Layer it onto a piece of white card stock

6.  Glue the green embossed panel as shown above

7.   Add the cupcake using dimensional tape.  Cut out the word celebrate twice using the Celebrate Expressions die.  Glue the two Celebrates together and then glue to the card front

Happy Birthday

Hello!  This is Sukie and I have another birthday card to share created with the new Cottage Cutz Birthday dies.

I found the patterned paper in my stash and pulled the solid color stock to coordinate with the colors.

I cut out the Party Mouse with Presents in white card stock and used some inks to shade all of the pieces.  I also cut the Stitched Wide Rectangle Frame.

Totally Sky Trendy Twine coordinated perfectly with my background paper.  The sentiment is from the Scrappy Moms (retired) Simple Sentiments.

The patterned paper was layered on the red card stock.  I wrapped the twine at the top of the card base.  The lighter blue paper was layered underneath the Wide Rectangle Frame.

The sentiment was anchored in the corner of the frame and the Birthday Mouse with Presents was balanced inside the frame.

The finishing touch was a twine bow.  I tied the ends of the bow for a bit more softness on my card.

Animals Celebrating

It's Anja here. I have a simple and fun card for you today. Again using one of the new Birthday Release dies.

For this card I used:

- Cottage Cutz dies (Party Animal Bus, Celebrate Expressions),

- Distress Inks (Antique Linen, Shabby Shutters, Broken China, Barn Door, Fired Brick, Brushed Corduroy, Vintage Photo, Pumice Stone, Black Soot, Hickory Smoke, Picked Raspberry) and Oxides (Broken China, Twisted Citron, Peeled Paint),

- white card base (15x15 cm),

- white card stock for die cuts,

- silver pigment ink,

- black pen,

- plastic stencil (clouds),

- brushes for background,

- paper glue.

First I cut and colored all the pieces for the bus. I used black pen for the eyes.

Next I cut and colored the sentiment.

And then I made the background directly on the card base. I used brushes for coloring. I made the clouds with a stencil and grass just by coloring on the paper with the brush. I used Distress Oxides for better effect.

And when I had finished my background, all I had to do was glue the bus and the sentiment on top. And my card was done.
