Mama Raccoon & Baby (New Dies)

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Wednesday edition of the Blog. Before I get started with my card for today, I wanted to give you a heads-up on a new release of dies and a sale. The dies are versatile and can be used for cards other than Mother's Day.

The new release of Mother's Day dies with 22 different designs is still on sale right now at 25% off. The Design Team has begun showing samples using these dies. Check out the previous days Blog posts to see those samples. There are also a couple of group posts with even more samples.

Now let's move onto my card for today. This one I created with the Mama Raccoon & Baby die that is part of the Mother's Day release. I am using it for a Mother's Day card but again this die could be used for a variety of occasion. How about to welcome a new baby or as a thank you from a new Mom or even for baby shower invitations just to mention a few ideas.

Step 1: Since I knew what die I would be showcasing today, I knew I wanted a layout where the raccoons would be the star. I found this sketch online and decided to go with it for this card.

Step 2: Once the layout was decided upon, I just needed to select my card colors. I found this designer paper that had the name of "go wild". It is a series of different animal prints and patterns. This arrow pattern seemed to work well for a raccoon.

So my card colors were chosen with taupe, and black. Not your typical Mother's Day colors but the raccoon and sentiment tie it all together.
The flag panel is cut at the size from the sketch and I used a heart embossing folder for texture.

Black card Base: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
Patterned Paper Panel: 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"
Taupe Circle: 3rd largest stitched circle die
Black circle: 4th largest circle die
Step 2: Cut my mama & baby raccoon. I followed the colors on the packaging and also used the photo to assemble them. CottageCutz always has a color photo on each die package and this makes die cut assembly quite easy. I used a medium, light gray and black for the animals
Step 3: Before I started my card assembly, I wanted to stamp the sentiment. The sentiment I am using reads -"thank you for being my protector, my teacher and my friend. I only wanted to use the words - protector, teacher, friend. So I pulled out my MISTI and masked off the other words and stamped what I needed.

I wasn't sure at first what to do for the middle thin panel, Then I remembered that I had some twine in my stash. I have had this for so many years and I almost got rid of it and now I am glad that I didn't. It's self adhesive so it was no issue getting it to stick.

The panels are all secured with double sided tape. This is my primary adhesive. On the image panel, I used mounting tape because I wanted it lifted off of the background somewhat. After this was done I scattered a few sequins just to enhance the panels a bit. Taupe is not a go to color choice for me. I usually shy away from the neutral colors. But I really like how this card turned out.
Well that's it for me for this post. I hope I have given you another idea for these new fun dies. See you again on Saturday.

Mother's Day Release Design Team Samples (Part 2)

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit today. We have a brand new release of Mother's Day  at 25% off the retail price.

There are 22 dies in this release that includes 3 Mothers Day phrase dies. All the other dies could be used year round for a variety of occasions.  We have had a good response when we do a group post on a new release. It gives you the opportunity to see more card samples from the Design Team. So we are continuing that again this month.

There are 3 samples for today and later in the month, we will post another set of 3 samples. Plus the design team will be featuring these dies in their posts over the next couple of weeks.

Card 1: This first sample is from Janja Albrecht. She used the super cute Breakfast in Bed die to create her fabulous card. What Mom doesn't want to be treated like a queen on her special day? And, giving her a card like this can be part of your breakfast in bed treat?

She framed her image with some CottageCutz scalloped stitched square dies and a corner ribbon - so sweet.

This die could be used on Mom's birthday or even as a get well card for a friend who is under the weather. There is always such incredible detail in every CottageCutz die. This is what sets the company apart from other dies on the market.
Card 2: This next sample is from Lois Bak. She used the Stitched Tulip & Daisies die to create her pretty card. Her layout is perfect for displaying the pot of daisies. She framed her images and patterned paper with the double stitched square and rectangle dies.

And,  the sentiment allows it to be used for Mother's Day or another special event - birthday, thinking of you, thank you etc. Love how she added the cute little bee.
Card 3: The 3rd and final sample for today is one that I (Mary Marsh) created. I used the Orchids die to create my Mother's Day card. The color combination is from the Splitcoaststampers color challenge #686.
The layout I chose allows the orchid image to be the center of attraction. And, also allows the use of patterned paper without it getting covered up. Pink & Black make for a great Mother's Day card. Sequins and enamel dots are always a nice finishing touch.

I hope the samples shown today have sparked some ideas for a Mother's Day card or project. The new dies are all so beautiful and again they are on sale for a limited time.

There is also a sale going on today to celebrate National Scrapbooking Day. You can save up to 50% on some dies until 9:00 pm tonight. Check it out here.

Rose Heart Birthday

Hi, Lois here today still playing with the new Mother's Day release from CottageCutz.  Today's card features a pretty "flower" die -- the Rose Heart.  Be sure to check the CottageCutz website.  They're still celebrating National Scrapbook Day, which was Saturday.  You can save up to 50% on CottageCutz designs.

To start my card, I gathered my cardstock:

Pink - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2"
White - 4" x 5 1/4"
Scraps of green, pale pink and dark pink (big enough to fit the dies)

I then cut out the leaves and heart from the green and pale pink scraps.  Before I cut the heart, I used a sponge dauber and sponged on some Ranger Spun Sugar ink to the center of the pink piece.  This gave the center of my "rose" some depth.

I glued down the leaves to the white panel and the rose to the dark pink scrap and then cut out the two-level rose with scissors.

I attached some foam pop dots to the back of the rose and placed it within the leaves, adding the extra single leaves to the branch.  After stamping the birthday sentiment in the upper right-hand corner, I scattered some small sequins around the card.  And I was finished!

Bouquet of Flowers

Hi!

This is Anja. I hope you're doing well. I was on a short vacation last week and came back home rested and in good mood. And now I'm back to crafting again. Yesterday was a National Scrapbook Day and you can find great discounts in the store. Don't forget to check it out. And also the new Mother's Day release is in the store.

I have a Mother's day card for you today. I used Botanical Garden dies to make a spring bouquet for mom.

For this card I used:
- Cottage Cutz dies (Botanical Garden 1, Botanical Garden 2, Watering Can, Tulips, Sugar and Cream Alphabet, Mug with Heart),
- Distress Inks (Tumbled Glass, Peacock Feathers, Squeezed Lemonade, Black Soot, Wild Honey, Mustard Seed, Shabby Shutters, Mowed Lawn, Seedless Preserves, Dusty Concord, Peeled Paint, Bundled Sage, Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick),
- craft card base (15x15 cm),
- white card stock for die cuts,
- white water color paper for background (14x14 cm),
- lilac card stock for background (14,4x14,4 cm),
- gold pigment ink,
- Glossy Accents,
- heat gun,
- brush,
- water spritzer,
- paper glue.

First I die cut the flowers and colored it with Distress Inks.

I used gold pigment ink for letters and heart.

Then I made the background. I used craft card base and lilac square.

Then I cut a square from water color paper and colored t with the smooching technique. I put some Distress Ink on my glass surface, spritzed it with water and then tapped the paper over it. I heat it with the heat gun. Then I used gold pigment ink, mixed with water and spritzed it over the paper.

I also used gold ink for the edges.

When I had everything cut and colored I arranged the pieces into a card.

Have a nice Sunday.
Anja Z.
