Polar Opposites

Happy Friday Cottage Cutz fans!  It’s Jeanne today with a card featuring one of the dies from Part 3 of the new Christmas release; however this is not a Christmas card!  I found this sentiment and knew it would be perfect for the Polar Friends die.

I have always found it amusing that every (it seems) card maker puts polar bears and penguins together, but in real life one is an Arctic animal and the other lives in the Antarctic.  This sentiment brings both  together and it all makes sense!

Wouldn't this make a cute anniversary card for someone married in the winter?  (I may give it to my husband for his birthday which is coming up quickly.)

To begin I made the background.  I heat embossed the snowfall using white embossing powder and a stencil.

I stopped the stencil about an inch from the bottom so I would have a smooth area for my sentiment.

Next, I used blending brushes to create the background.  Since this is not a Christmas card I chose a light violet and two blues.  If this were for Christmas, I would not have used the violet.

I cut my bear, penguin and iceberg from white cardstock and colored using Distress Oxide inks and Copic markers.  I did cut the penguin body from black so it would be a nice solid color.  I used the large iceberg from the Seal & Walrus Pals die.

I cut a strip of white cardstock 3/4 x 4 inches and stamped my sentiment.  Then I cut a strip 1 x 4 inches from lavender glitter paper to frame the sentiment strip.

After using scissors to point the left ends and gluing them together,  I adhered them to the card front about 1/4 inch from the bottom.

I snipped off the part overhanging the right side of the card.

To adhere the image I used used foam dots.

Finally I added a few snowflake shaped sequins for sparkle and interest.

I hope you enjoyed my card today.  Be sure to stop by the online store where the new release is on sale for a limited time!  The new Christmas dies are super cute!

I hope you have a fun and creative weekend!

Griswold's Christmas

Hello Scrapping Cottage Friends,

It is Pam sharing with you on the blog this great Thursday morning.

I don't know about you but I think one of the funniest movies I have ever seen is Christmas Vacation!  This little station wagon brings me right to the scene in the movie when the Griswold's went out to get their Christmas tree! I decided to do a fun fold card with this fun die.

Design Steps

1.  Use the second from the largest Stitched Scallop Circle die and cut a red circle.  Use the second from the largest Pierced Circle die and cut out a DP blue circle
2.  Cut a piece of white card stock 7 x 3 1/2 and fold in half
3.  Glue the blue dotted DP to the red scalloped circle then mount onto the small card front
4.  Cut some red card stock 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 and 2 pieces 4 1/8 x 2 5/8. Cut green DP 4 x 5 1/4 and patterned DP 4 x 2 1/2.  Cut a white 11 x 4 1/2 fold in half placing the fold at the bottom of the card then cut the front flap in half
5.  Glue the large piece red card stock to the inside of the card and the two smaller pieces of red go on the outside of the front flap and the inside of the front flap.  Glue the green pattern paper to the inside of the card and the pattern paper to the front of the outside flap

6.  Cut all the pieces using the Griswold Wagon and green, black, brown, red, green and vellum.  Assemble the car with a fine tip glue

7.  Glue the small card to the green inside of the card folding the front flap under the flap of the smaller card. Open up the small white card and stamp the sentiment. I added a small strip of DP for added decoration

8.   Add some white snow to the blue dotted DP on the circle and then pop up the car.  Add a snowflake, rhinestone and your sentiment.  I used a small Velcro dot to keep the card closed

Brew Up Some Fun!

Hello!  This is Sukie, with only a couple of weeks away from Halloween, I thought I would share one more card created with the Cottage Cutz Halloween die release.  Today's card is bit different in that it's not traditional but a fun concept.

I used different colors of Oxide Inks to shade all of the die cuts from the Spell Books & Potions and the Witch's Brew die sets.
I punched out a border using the Martha Stewart Drippy Goo border punch.  This punch is an all time favorite.  I used a basic background for my card base and inked it on the edges.  The sentiment was heat embossed on some black card stock.
The border was affixed along the top edge of my card panel while the stack of books was added to the bottom edge.  The witch's hat nested to the side of the books.
The spooky skeleton was displayed on top of the books.  The spider appears to be crawling from behind the books.
The potion bottles were stacked next to one another with a bit of overlapping for a cohesive look.  All of the colors coordinated perfectly.
The sentiment tag was added as the final finishing touch on my card.  The sentiment is a great play on words for this card.
Here are the die sets used on my card, available in the store:

Christmas Duo

Hi!

It's Anja here. I made two simple cards for today's post. I usually prefer to create my own scenes on cards, but when a have to make more cards and don't have lots of time, I look for shortcuts. This time I used two dies from the Christmas Part 2 release, Fireplace Scene and Holy Nativity. You get two beautiful scenes real quick and you can easily make a bunch of cards to send to your family and friends for Holidays.

First I cut the scenes from white card stock and embossed it with two shiny embossing powders. Next I cut the square from the craft card base. I used the biggest square from the set. And last I trimmed a square (10x10 cm) to cover the hole from the back side to hide all the embossing powder leftovers on the back of the cut scene. And then I just glued all the pieces to the card base and my cards were done.

I wish you all a lovely week. Stay safe and healthy.

See you again next Sunday.

Anja Z.

Happy Halloween

Hi!

It's Anja here. I have another Halloween card for you today. This time I made a scene from a haunted house. I combined bits and pieces from some of the Halloween release dies.

For this card I used:

- Cottage Cutz dies (Spell Books & Potions, Spooky Ghost & Crow, Slime Cupcake, Spooky Witch House, Spooky Camper),

- Distress Inks,

- craft card base (15x15 cm),

- white card stock for die cuts and background (13,3x13,3 cm),

- black card stock for die cuts (14,2x14,2 cm),

- craft card stock for background,

- embossing folder (bricks),

- background stamp (wood),

- paper trimmer,

- paper glue.

First I cut and colored all the bottles, books and the candle.

Next I cut and colored all the pumpkins and other small pieces.

Then I started on the background. First I trimmed the paper.

Next I embossed the bricks. I tapped some color directly to the folder and put it through the cutting machine. Then I colored the edges with grey and black. I trimmed the wooden parts from the craft card stock and stamped it. I again colored around the edges to give it more dimension.

And when I had all the pieces ready I arranged the card together. And this is the final result.

Hope you liked the card. I wish you all a pleasant Sunday and see you again tomorrow for another project.

Have fun.

Anja Z.
