DT Samples w/Spring and Magical Release dies

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit today. We are sampling DT cards for the next 4 days from our Spring release and also our the brand new Magical Fantasy release.

There are 27 new designs in the Magical Fantasy release. And for a limited time the individual dies are on sale at 25% off.
We want to  give you some creative ideas for using the dies. So let's get started with the cards for today.

Card 1:  Our first sample today is from Sukie Dhillon. She is featuring the new Flying Unicorn die. She created a shaker card that is sure to brighten someone's day. The sweet Flying Unicorn is at the focal point of the card and is accented with the stars and clouds in the background. The inspirational sentiment finishes off this magical scene. To create this polaroid style shaker card she also used the Fairytale Birthday, Unicorn Floral and Square Set dies.
Card 2: Our next sample today is from Anja Zurga. She used the sweet Hatching Bunny and Happy Easter Greeting dies to create her colorful Easter card.  Anja always gives us such beautiful backgrounds for her cards and she didn't disappoint with this card.

She stenciled with a bright blue distress ink so perfect for this cute little hatching bunny. The Happy Easter greeting was cut in white cardstock and sponged with a bright pink ink. The Hatching Bunny dies would also work well for a new baby card or even as baby shower invitations. Think out of the box with seasonal dies.
Card 3: Our last sample for today is from Janja Albreht. She used the cute Spring Frog w/Lilypad die to create a great card of encouragement for a friend. It's a perfect mix of a fun card and a way to show a special friend that we understand.  The water underneath the lilypad is from the Fishing Pole and boat die.  Her sentiment is so spot-on when a friend needs a pick me.
Well that's our samples for today. I hope the team has given you some fresh ideas for a way to use the dies. Stop by the Blog again tomorrow for more team samples.

Bunny with Carrots

Hi!

It's Anja here. I have a very simple card for you today, using this adorable bunny with lots of carrots.

For this card I used:
- Cottage Cutz dies (Carrot Patch Bunny, Spring Potted Bunnies),
- Distress Inks (Spun Sugar. Barn Door, Dried Marigold, Antique Linen, Mowed Lawn, Peeled Paint, Vintage Photo, Walnut Stain, Spiced Marmalade, Stormy Sky, Broken China, ),
- white card base (10,5x21 cm),
- white card stock for die cuts,
- water color paper for background,
- white pen,
- black pen,
- heat gun,
- brush,
- paper glue.

First I cut and colored the bunny, carrots and pots. I use black and white pen for the eyes.

Then I glued the carrots in the pots.

Next I made the background, using Distress Inks and a brush.

And when the background was dry, I arranged and glued all the pieces on.

This is all from me for today.

Have a nice Sunday.
Anja Z.

Magical Unicorn Birthday (new die)

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Saturday edition of the Blog.

We have a new release of dies in our online store. If you haven't seen the Magical Fantasy release yet, you have to drop by the store and check it out. These new dies are all so cute and whimsical. There are 27 new designs and I am in love with everyone of them.

My good friend asked if I could make a birthday card for a little girl who loves unicorns. I was happy to oblige her request. I decided to use the Princess Pony die and turn it into a unicorn. There is a horn included with the die.  So let's get started with some details on how I created my card.

Step 1: As I have said so many times before, having a layout in mind at the start of my card is always a big boost for me. It jump starts my creative thought process. I love working with the sketches that are out there in the online world. That way I just choose the colors and designer paper and I am good to go.
I liked this week's sketch #744 from Splitcoaststampers.
The center panel was perfect for the unicorn pony and also would allow my designer paper to be seen. I found this paper the other day at Hobby Lobby and thought it would be perfect for any of these new dies. The swirl pattern seemed a bit magical to me. I also used white mesh ribbon for element 3 of the sketch.

Pink Card Base: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
Pink Designer Paper Layer: 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"
Pink Stitched Scallop Rectangle Panel: 2 7/8" x 4 7/8" (2nd largest die)
White Image Panel: 2 5/8" x 3 5/8" (Rectangle Set 2nd largest die)
White Mesh Ribbon:  1 1/2" x 4 1/2"(Element 3 on sketch)

Next I moved onto cutting the unicorn. I liked the colors on the packaging so I stayed with those. The detail is amazing, and I think she has the cutest face and eye.
I stamped my sentiment in the upper corner of the image panel. I was just looking to use only the "magical" word so I taped off everything else. Stamped in grape ink and cut my unicorn word from matching grape cardstock.
To cover element 6 of this sketch, I decided to use a cloud. I cut in the same pink cardstock as the unicorn and I used the Clouds & Sun die. I stamped my birthday word in grape ink.

Step 2: Now that all my elements are cut, I am ready to start card assembly. I started by securing the mesh ribbon to the designer paper panel and then attached that to the card base.

Next up is the image panel. I attached the unicorn phrase with Ranger multi matte medium. This phrase is part of the new Magical Unicorn Dreams die.On the cloud, I used double sided tape. Then for the unicorn, I used dimensional adhesive to lift it somewhat off the background.
I finished my card by adding some light and dark purple stars. They are part of the Magical Unicorn Dreams die. I hope I have given you an idea for a way to use this new die. Starting next Wednesday we will have 4 days of group posts using these new dies as well as the Spring dies. So make sure you stop by to see all the beautiful cards.

Bunny Medallion

Happy Friday!  It's Jeanne posting today with an Easter card for you.  This card is easy to create and is perfect for a last minute card.  I love this little bunny die - it reminds me of the adorable cottontails that are in my yard right now! (And eating my grass I might add. LOL)
It also uses a technique that I like which gives subtle color and added dimension - stacking dies cuts.
I started by cutting three ovals in purple and one in white from the fourth largest oval in the Stitched Ovals set.  I then stacked and glued them together with the white on top.
Next I cut three of the Spring Egg Scene in white and the Blessings Phrase from lavender glitter paper.  I used a self adhesive backing sheet on the phrase.
I stacked and glued the scene pieces together then glued that to my stacked oval forming a medallion.
On an A2 white card base I used a splatter stamp and purple ink to create some background interest behind where the medallion will go.  (You could also just splatter on some ink with a paint brush if you felt so inclined!)  I thought it still needed  little something, so I cut white foliage using the Spring Teacup Bouquet set.  I also added some fine silver thread.
Finally I added the Blessing Phrase and a few sequins.

Splash!

Good Morning Scrapping Cottage Friends!

It is Pam creating with you!

Today, I am making a card that will be a big hit with my little 2 year old nephew.  He loves bright colors and ducks so this card fits both of his favorite things except that it is a little girl duck! But at his age it really makes no difference!!  Also we have a new release called Magical Fantasy!  And believe me it is Magical and so darling.  It is 25% off in our stores so don't miss out!  I can't wait to make cards with it.

Design Steps:
 1.  Cut out the duck and accessories using: the Rainy Day Duck die, orange, blue, yellow, black card stock and Polka Dot DP
 2.  Use your favorite inks to shade and highlight the pieces
 3.  I had some pre-embossed square cards that I decided to stop hoarding!  They have really cute envelopes to match.(Lasting Impressions) I assembled the cute little duck and umbrella
 3.  Glue down the puddle and then the duck.  I placed a pop dot behind the umbrella for some dimension and then glued down the splashes
 4.  On the inside of the card I layered a piece of DP behind the white then glued that inside
 5.  I made another umbrella and assembled it
6.  Then glued the umbrella to the inside of the card and add your sentiment to the front of the card
