Winter Ski Trip Slimline Card

Happy New Year crafty friends!!

Tomorrow is the LAST DAY of our huge After Christmas Sale where you can save up to 80%!!   If you hurry, you can stock up on your favorites for some crafty fun in the new year!

Kris here with a winter wishes slimline card that I think is fitting for this time of year!  We actually got our first snowfall of the season on Christmas Eve.  While I'm not hoping for a ton of snow this winter, I enjoy creating snowy themed cards like this one.  ☺

I've used the Winter Ski Trip die the cute Winter Raccoon on Skis.  I've also used the Hills Slimline die and the Stitched Rectangles die.

DESIGN STEPS:

I die cut the Winter Ski Trip die 2x and the Winter Raccoon on Skis 1x in white cardstock, then colored with Copic Markers.

I then used the largest of the Stitched Rectangle dies to cut a slimline panel using the extended die method.  I repeated this method for a 2nd panel, then used 2 of the Hills Slimline dies to cut 2 hills from the 2nd panel.

On the 1st slimline panel, I used Distress Oxide ink pads in Wild Honey, Abandoned Coral and Crackling Campfire and ink blended a sunset to the top half.  I then attached the 2 sets of mountains.

Before adding my decorative elements, I used white acrylic paint mixed with a li'l bit of water to spatter "snow" onto my scene and raccoon.

Next, I stamped a sentiment onto the snowy hills in Starry Sky ink then attached them to card front, followed by my decorative elements.

I cut a piece of turquoise cardstock at 7-1/2" x 8-3/4" and scored the 7-1/2" side at 3-3/4" for a top folding slimline card base.  I mounted my card front to the base and done!

Thanks so much for talking a peek today!  I hope you'll take advantage of the huge SALE going on thru Jan 2 (tomorrow night!)  and get your craft on with some of your favorite dies.

Speaking of favorites, I thought I'd share my 9 favorite cards I've made from 2023 --- super hard to pick just 9, but here's just SOME of my faves ☺

Announcing New Addition to Design Team

Today I have the pleasure of announcing a new addition to the CottageCutz Design Team.

Jen Hartsgrove

My krafty korner of the world is in Northern Maine, where I live with my very tolerant husband, three active homeschooled children, our two naughty dogs, two spit fire cats, and two very stubborn house pigs…yes you read that right, pet pigs! Basically, I officially do reside in a funny farm!

My love of all things krafty started at a very young age, and led me to attending Green Mountain College in Vermont, and earning my BFA. While at GMC, I specialized in photography. I believe this was my steppingstone into my big passion, scrapbooking.

Scrapbooking had a natural evolution to stamping and card making. I love that I can play with all sorts of mediums and techniques such as die cutting, inks, watercolors, alcohol markers, and glitter….an artist’s dream!

Jen will be joining us as part of our YouTube team. She will be posting on the 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of each month. Here is a sample of the work that you can expect to see from this talented paper artist.

And speaking of YouTube, the CottageCutz video artists are posting on our channel every Wednesdays. We have giveaways every Wednesday on the channel for subscribing, liking and commenting on the post. Here is a link to our channel.

Love You with all my Heart

Hello CottageCutz friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Saturday edition of the Blog.

IT'S NEW RELEASE TIME! The Winter Release with 15 new designs is in the online store. They are perfect for creating cards for all your winter celebrations. You can pick them up on a limited time 30% off sale.

Today, I am using the new Winter Cat & Bird Sledding and the Winter Ski Trip dies to create a scenic mountain lake with pine trees and sledding slopes. This will be a Valentine's card.

I like to make non-traditional cards for this holiday, and I thought this image would work great as a love style card. I am not sure who I will give this card to as yet. Maybe my hubby or our precious little granddaughter. So, let's get started with some details of how I created this card.

Design Steps:
I started off my card by cutting the images. I cut the cat & bird in bright colors. For the cat I used somewhat masculine colors and the little bird in more feminine colors.
The mountains are cut in a dark gray cardstock and also a very pale blue for the snow caps. The pine trees are cut with the Mountains & Trees Slimline die. I cut the pine trees in a dark green cardstock.
For the sledding slopes, I used the Hills Slimline die.
Next, I stamped my sentiment. I masked off the words I didn't want to use. I used my MISTI since this is a photopolymer stamp and sometimes, they don't stamp well with just one inking. I had to double stamp this one.
Now that my elements are prepared, I am ready to start card assembly. I used a white card base and for the sky background I used designer paper. I didn't need a full background for the designer paper since the slopes would cover it.

White Card Base: 4 1/2" x 5 1/2"
Designer Paper Layer: 3 1/8" x 4 1/2"
I attached the sledding slopes and the designer paper with double sided tape.
Next, I attached the pine trees and the mountains. I positioned the mountains to give the appearance of a mountain lake. It reminded me of Lake Tahoe.
The images are attached with dimensional adhesive. This little pair is so cute and I love how they look placed in the mountain scene.
To finish off my card, I added my Love phrase. It's cut from cardstock using the Love Shadow die. I added a couple of enamel hearts and this card is finished. I hope I have given you an idea for a way to use these dies for Valentine's Day. See you next Saturday.

Winter Ski

Hi everyone. I hope the Holidays was filled with love and lots of food. I am back sharing a card to close out the season today using Winter Ski trip.
I used a variety of glitter paper to create layers for this card. I wanted to show how simple and clean you can make a simply buy using card the Cottage Cutz dies due to all the layers you get one one piece.
I layered the mountains over each other to make it look like several mountains but alternated the colors.

I hope you all enjoyed my post and I hope the New Year is amazing for everyone. I can’t wait to see what lies ahead.

I Heart U Winter Ski Trip Card

Happy Sunday Scrapping Cottage friends!
Melinda here with a cute wintery themed project share. Here's a look at my card.
My card features dies from the new Winter Release Bundle. I created this top folding A4 card with the Winter Dog and Snowman,  and the Winter Ski Trip die.

I cut all of my pieces out on plain white cardstock. I then used my chalks and markers to color them in.

Here is a closer look at the cute ski lift gondolas. I colored them with my markers and added the I {Heart} U. I also added a little bit of white puffy pain to the top to give them the appearance of snow on the top.

Here's a closer look at the trees and mountains. I staggered and layered the mountains. I then put in some of the trees and staggered them among the mountains as well. I used a combination of puffy pain and stickles to give them a little touch.

All of my dies and the entire scene were layered onto a white cardstock base. I used a combination of my markers and chalks to color the sky and the snow base.

Here's a closer look at the sweet little Winter Dog and Snowman. They are adorable!
