Homage to the Beatles

Happy Monday!  It's Jeanne today with an extra card this week and one I had a lot of fun making!  When I saw the octopus in the new release I was working on cards for the last release - gardening.  I immediately thought about putting the Garden Phrases and Octopus dies together.  And I couldn't resist throwing in the Toy Submarine die.
I love music - all kinds of music!  I grew up listening to the Beatles and I listened to them while working on this card.   Lot's of good memories!

The background of this card is a patterned paper that happened to be perfect to set the scene.  For the sign I used the Garden Phrases sign and simply trimmed along one of the wood grain cuts to make it smaller.  The seaweed is from the Tropical Fish die.

I cut everything but the sign various colors of cardstock except the sign which I cut from white.  I used ink to shade the seaweed and octopus and to color the sign.  The octopus was popped up using foam dots.

I hope you enjoyed my card today.  It would certainly be perfect for the music lover in your life!

Tropical Fishy!

Hello Scrapping Cottage Friends!

It is Pam on the blog with you today!

We have a brand new release of dies in the online store.  This selection of dies features Pirates and Sea Creatures! There are 14 awesome designs in the collection and you are going to want each and everyone of them!!

Now onto todays card.  It has been really hot in Arizona. So the water in this picture makes me want to jump into our pool!!  I have been making a ton of hello cards lately because so many of my friends are still unable to travel.  I sure miss seeing them!  I am praying that this virus will soon just go away!

I am highlighting the new Tropical Fish die.  I love using bright colors and the tropical fish are perfect for these vivid colors.

Design Steps:
1.  Use and A2 white card base, a piece of white card stock 4 x 5 1/4, white frame cut with the largest of the Stitched Wide Rectangle Frame dies, a piece of green card stock cut first with the largest of the Scalloped Rectangle dies and then the center cut out with the largest of the Pierced Rectangle dies.  This will give you a piece of green scalloped trim
2.  On the piece of white card stock use 3 different TH blues inks to create the ocean.  Next spray with water to create the bubbles.  Use a piece of 2 1/2 x 4 inch brown card stock torn in half to create the sand.  I glued one piece to the blue inked card stock and the other to the back of the frame. Glue the green trim to the front of the frame

3.  Glue the blue inked piece directly to the card base.  Place dimension tape on the back of the frame and then adhere on top of the blue inked piece
4.  Using the Tropical Fish die cut out all of the pieces.  I used blue, teal, purple, light green, dark green, white, light purple, dark pink, orange, dark orange and yellow
5.  Shade the pieces using a variety of inks and then assemble
6.  Arrange onto card base and glue down some of the pieces and use pop dots on others.  All of the fish have pop dots behind them.  Stamp the sentiment and add glossy accents to the pearl.  Your card is complete!

Birthday Fishes

Hello!  This is Sukie and today I'm sharing a fun card for my design team day.  I couldn't resist creating another under water card with the new Pirate die release.
I couldn't help but use a variety of dies for this under the sea card. The Seahorse and Tropical Fish die set are from the new release. I only cut out the seaweed from the Tropical Fish die set and intertwined it in the net from the Paddles and Rope Ladder die set. The Ship's Wheel was cut out as an embellishment for my card.
The background of my card was created with a combination of Oxide Inks which was heavily splattered with water.  I also cut out the largest circle from the Pierced Wide Circle Frame Set for a monochromatic color theme on my card.
To build my card, the net with the seaweed was nestled inside the circle frame.  The paddle was angled across the top of the circle along with the seahorse.  I love how the seahorse pops against the card base and the other die cuts.
I then added all of the starfish to the net and a couple of them to the paddle.  The ship's wheel was added as a fun embellishment.
Of course, I had to incorporate the school of fish randomly on the background of my card.  The embossed sentiment finished off my card.

Mermaid Kisses and Starfish Wishes

Hello!  This is Sukie and today I'm sharing a fun card for my design team day. There's a brand new release of Cottage Cutz dies featuring underwater and pirate themed designs. These magical dies are currently on sale in the store.
I was immediately drawn to the new Mermaid and Tropical Fish die sets.  I cut out all of the pieces and shaded them with my Oxide Inks.  The mermaid is so sweet with the adorable starfish in her hair.
I created an ink blended background for my card, splattered it with water and with some white paint.  I hand cut the sea floor and adhered it along the bottom of my card panel.  The whimsical sentiment was perfect for this under the sea card!
All of the die cuts were adhered to the card base building the ocean step by step with all of the elements.
The larger fish filled in the open areas in the water while the smaller fish were adhered to the ocean bottom.
The bubbles were randomly affixed to my card base.  I added some Stickles to the bubbles for a bit of sparkly fun.
Here are the dies used on my card, available in the store:

Tropical Fish (new die)

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Saturday edition of the Blog.

We have a brand new release of dies in the online store. This one is all about the sea with Pirates and undersea creatures.  There are 14 new whimsical designs and each one is cuter than the next. These cards would be ideal for so many occasions.  The entire bundle is currently 60% off and you can pick it up for less than $100. Each individual die is also 25% off.  The DT will begin showing more samples next week. So stay tuned and let your imagination soar.

For my card today, I am featuring the new tropical fish die and I created a non-traditional graduation card for my niece. She just graduated high school and is planning to go to college in the fall as an elementary education major. So let's get started with some details on how I created my card.

Design Steps:
Since I knew what die I was going to use, I started my card by selecting a designer paper that had an undersea vibe to me. The color gradient from a light to a darker green works well for an under the sea scene. And, by choosing my paper first, I could coordinate the colors of my fish, sea grass and clamshell.

Green card base: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
Designer paper layer: 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"
Next, I cut the undersea elements in a variety of colored cardstock. You could use white cardstock and then color with alcohol markers, pencils or distress inks. I just prefer using colored cardstock.
I stamped the sentiment in the darker green ink that matches the cardstock. This sentiment ties in with the clam that produced a pearl. I just thought it would work for a graduation card. I think it sends a message of encouragement to my niece that even the smallest thing can be a gateway to experience  the extraordinary.
Now that all my elements are prepared, I am ready to start card assembly. I attached the fish with dimensional adhesive. I wanted them lifted slightly off the background. The sea grass and clamshell were attached with Ranger multi medium matte. I like this adhesive for die cuts because it dries clear.
There are air bubbles that come with this die. I first cut them in clear acetate but I didn't like the look. So I used a very light seafoam green and cut the air bubbles in that color. I did a double layer just for added dimension. Then I thought I needed something else on the bottom of my card. So I added some additional sea greenery. This greenery is part of the new mermaid die. And she is super cute, by the way. I also used  some clear Nuvo drops just for added interest on my card.
To complete my card I attached the image panel to the green card base. I decided I needed one more layer and change the card base to white. The base is 4 1/2" x 5 3/4"

And, that's a wrap on this card and post. See you next Saturday! Also in addition to the new dies being on an introductory sale there is also a big rth of July sale going on with savings of up to 60%. It's time to go shopping.
