Spring Bunny and Carrot

Hello CottageCutz friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Saturday edition of the Blog.

IT'S NEW RELEASE TIME! The Spring Release with 20 new designs is in the online store.  There is a nice combination of both religious and whimsical designs. So perfect for all card makers out there.

And the dies don't have to be used strictly for Spring or Easter. The team has done Valentine, Birthday and Thinking of You cards with these new dies. Take a look back on the Blog for lots of ideas.

Today for your viewing pleasure, I have a whimsical card for Easter. I used the new Spring Bunny w/Giant Carrot die. I have a 5 year old great niece that would love this card. So, it will find it's way to her mailbox.

Let's get started on some details of how I created my card.

Design Steps:

I thought this cute little bunny would look great on an Easel card. I created a vertical Easel card. For those of you that like videos here is a link to one on Splitcoaststampers

Start out with a 4 1/4" x 11" piece of cardstock and score at 5 1/2" and 8 1/4". Your card front piece will measure 4 1/4" x 5 1/2. I used white cardstock for my base color.
I wanted some designer paper as a base for the bunny image. I found this piece of blue designer paper that has a marble effect and a piece of matching blue cardstock for my card front.

designer paper layer: 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"
blue cardstock layer: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

I attached this panel to the bottom flap of the card base using double sided tape. You just secure the bottom panel only.

Next, I cut my bunny image with various colored cardstock.
I stamped my bunny sentiment on white cardstock and then mounted it on the blue that coordinates with the upper part of the card. I am also using this as my ledge for the easel to rest on. I added an additional piece of blue cardstock to make it a bit more secure.

I attached the bunny image to the designer paper panel with dimensional adhesive. The sentiment panel is attached 1 1/2" from the card bottom with double sided tape.
I decided to add the Easter phrase to the top of the card. I cut it 2x in magenta cardstock and secured to panel with Art Glitter glue.  Added a few magenta enamel dots to finish off my card. This card does fold flat so it will fit in a standard A2 envelope.
That's it for me for this week. I hope I have given you an idea for a way to use this super cute die. See you next Saturday!

Hippity Hoppity

Hello CottageCutz friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Saturday edition of the Blog.

IT'S NEW RELEASE TIME! The Spring Release with 20 new designs is in the online store. The individual dies are currently at 30% off.

I used the new Spring Window w/Peekers  and the Spring Sentiments dies. I thought this card would be perfect for the two little ones who live next door to me. So, let's get started on some details of how I created my card.

Design Steps:

Since I knew the image die I was going to use, I looked for some background designer paper. I knew I had some with a brick type look to it. I selected this one because I liked the color of the brick, so I paired it with the matching cardstock and then a jade cardstock base.

Jade card base: 4 1/2" x 5 3/4"
Cinnamon layering panel: 4 3/8" x 5 5/8"
Cinnamon designer paper: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
Next, I cut the window and bunny with colored cardstock that coordinated with the designer paper and card base.
I cut out my hippity - hoppity phrase in the jade cardstock. I cut it 2x in jade and then once in white foam sheet and glued together with Art Glitter glue.
Now that my elements are prepared, I am ready to start card assembly. I attached the designer paper to the cinnamon layer with double sided tape. Then the window is secured with dimensional adhesive.  I wanted it lifted off the panel to give it more depth.
I removed the backing from the white foam and attached the hippity hoppity phrase to my card. Then attached the image panel to the jade card base to complete my card. I hope I have given you an idea for a way to use this new die. See you next Saturday!

Easter in the Netherlands!

Hello CottageCutz friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Wednesday edition of the Blog.

IT'S NEW RELEASE TIME! The Spring Release with 20 new designs is in the online store. The individual dies are currently at 30% off. There is a nice combination of both religious and whimsical designs. So perfect for all card makers out there.

We are celebrating President's Day here at the Scrapping Cottage with a huge sale with up to 60% off selected dies. It ends on Thursday night so don't delay.

Today for your viewing pleasure, I have a card that is celebrating Easter and tulips. The background designer paper reminds me of the tulip fields in the Netherlands. Never been there just have seen photos. And I remembered that we had a windmill die that would work perfectly for my idea.

The card colors are from this week's Splitcoaststampers color challenge. I am the hostess of the challenge and for my color trio I chose pumpkin pie, so saffron and highland heather. Optional is to use any designer paper.
pumpkin pie, so saffron, highland heather

The windmill is from the Barn & Windmill die. I used so saffron & highland heather cardstock to cut the image. It's currently on sale at 50% off.

The Easter phrase is from the new Spring Sentiments die. This die has 6 phrase words and 6 Easter or Spring images.  I cut the phrase 3x for more definition and then sponged with the highland heather ink to darken it a bit.

To finish off this card I stamped a sentiment on the front panel and added a few Spring tulips. The tulips are from the Spring Sheep die.
That's it for me for this post. I will be back again this weekend with another card sample for you from the Spring collection of dies.

Hello Spring Peeker Bunny Easel Card

Happy Terrific TuesDIE Scrapping Cottage friends!
Melinda here with you today. I am super excited to be sharing with you today. Tuesdays will be my new day to post! So today I am sharing a cute little card I created with dies from the new SPRING RELEASE! Here's my project.

I created this cute Easel card featuring the Bunny in Pocket Die.

To create the Easel Fold

I started with a piece of cardstock measuring 4.25 x 11. That is exactly half of a letter size piece of cardstock. I folded it at the 5.5 mark. That is in half. I then folded the "top" or the right side in half again. I simply folded it to the center fold line.

Here's a picture of the two folds. It is hard to se the center fold on the left, but it is there.

Next I took a piece of white cardstock and cut it to 4.25 x 5.5. I added a pretty patterned paper mat to the top. That mat measures 4 x 5.25. I put adhesive on the bottom half only of the top folding. Next I put the mat onto the top part and lined up the bottom and sides. So only half of the mat is adhered to the base.

Here's a view of the side of the card with the base. This shows you that the mat is only attached to that bottom half. Once that is done, I went ahead and assembled my layers and the main die onto the card.

Here is the panel I added to the "bottom inside" of the card. This piece acts as a stopper of sorts for the top piece. It allows for that piece to be on top.

Here you can see all the fun dimension the layers have. I put some foam tape behind the mats to get them a little extra dimension. I added a sweet little bow in a matching yellow ribbon.

All of these pieces with the exception of the pocket started out as plain white cardstock. I have used this sweet little die in a couple other projects, but this one has a gray bunny. The others I colored that sweet little bunny in more of a brown. If you would like to see those projects head over to that blog post. CLICK HERE.

Here's another look at my finished project.

The Dies I used to create this project:

I used the Stitched Scallop version. That one is currently unavailable, but this is an excellent alternative.

Easter Blessings Chickee Die Faux Shadow Box

Happy SUPERBOWL Sunday Scrapping Cottage friends!
Melinda here with you today. I am not a big football fan, but my hubby, son and brothers all love to watch.... so they will be tuning in this evening.... How about you? If I am lucky, I will be able to get lost here in my craft room...lol!  Today I am sharing a cute little Easter décor piece I created with dies from the new SPRING RELEASE! Here's my project.

I created this little faux shadow box with a cute little décor piece inside.

I started by taking the adorable little pieces from the Spring Chickee in Basket die and coloring them. I cut them all from plain white cardstock.

I cut out two of the Nested Stitched Doilies from the die Set in white cardstock. I wanted to make some mats for them and a two hour circle cutting saga began!!!!...lol! I have some punches and recently got this circle cutter. I know some things are great tools and some are not. This, for me, is a big fat NOT! It was something I just couldn't use with ease. I didn't have the right size punches either. I didn't want to pull out my electronic cutter for a simple circle....so the lesson here...
get a great set of basic circle dies.... like this set!

Going forward, I will be collecting all of the basics from Cottage Cutz... I don't want to go around the "circle saga mountain" again...lol!

Next, in staying with the circle theme, I wanted to create a rosette. So I cut out a piece of paper 5" x 12" from some patterned paper in my stash. I scored it every half inch.

I then cut it in half, so I had two pieces that measured 2.5 x 12. They were both scored. I then "accordion" folded them.

For one I started with the first flap up. For the other I started with the first flap down. This way when it came time to join them together, they would just fall right in line.

Here's a photo of the adhesive on one end tab. I just adhered the first flap of the other one, right onto that piece.
Here's what it looks like joined together. You can't tell where one begins and the other ends.

I then adhered both ends together. That creates this piece.

Once you gather the folds together, you lay it flat and you get your rosette. Here you can see that you can change the size of the rosette based on how loose you gather it, or how tight and small you make the center.

Here is a picture of the center closed in together much tighter.

I then used some hot glue and a circle punched piece of cardstock to the back.

I do the same thing in the front. I use hot glue so that all the folds will stay together.

I wanted to add a little extra something, so I had this white tulle netting with a little sparkle.
I just cut a length of it off the spool. Approximately 20 inches or so and just gathered it in the center.

I folded it and more or less found the center. I used a little twist tie from my stash to keep it gathered in the center.

I then poofed it out and saw that it was way too big for the rosette so....

I gathered it together and chopped of about 3/4-1"

I then arranged the cute little pieces onto the circle doily mats.

I then added all that onto the tulle and rosette.

Here's another view. you can see I added some foam in between the layers to give it all some extra dimension.

Next, I decided to create what I am calling a "faux shadow box" I needed the inside to be a finished size of 6x6. So I worked out from there. Here is a photo as I was putting it together. There is some definite "tweaking" I had to do, but as soon as I can, I will share the dimensions. I kind of had to "Frankenstein" this one.
Once I got it all together, I added the sentiments Easter and Blessings along the top. Here is a closer look at the blessings.

Here is a closer look at the Easter. They both come from the Spring Sentiments Die

Here's another look at my finished project.

I have it sitting on my entrance table. I will finish decorating it for the coming season and this will definitely be a part of it.
