Butterfly Thoughts

Hello crafty friends!

Kris here to share some Monday inspiration with you!  Today's card is a simple thinking of you card featuring the Spring Butterflies and some flowers and leaves from the Spring Frog w/ Mushroom and the Spring Potted Flowers w/ Bird dies.

I really like this color combo - it has an elegance to it which was fitting for this card.

Design Steps:

• I cut a pc of black cardstock to 6" x 9" and scored the 9" side at 4-1/2" for a side folding card.

• I cut a pc of Soft Suede cardstock at 5" x 3-1/2" and layered onto black.

• I die cut the 3rd largest Pierced Oval die

---TIP:  after die cutting the shape, and before you take it out of the die, I ran my scoring tool (small ball end) around the inside of the die.  This gives a much deeper embossing than running it thru machine with embossing mat.

here are the results 👍
(although, most of my oval ends up covered up, but it's still pretty!

• I stamped a sentiment onto the white oval.  I didn't use my MISTI and I think the sticker was a bit crooked so I got it a bit crooked too.  Clear stamps are so much easier to position!   To rectify that, I could have stamped first, then die cut 2nd (hindsight!) ☺

• I die cut my flowers and leaves from colored cardstock.  I ended up cutting more than what's pictured here because I never know how much I want to use until I start gluing things down.

• For my butterfly, I die cut it from a burgundy c.s. then I laid that over some pink c.s. and trimmed with my scissors a slight angle inward so the pink ends up a tiny bit smaller than the top one.  Then I glued it under my die cut butterfly.

Froggie Birthday

 Hello Friends,

I have a few younger relatives so I thought I would make a card for one of those special kids! I am using two of the new dies and a fun fold.  The fun fold is from a YouTube video I saw by Karen Aicken.  The dies are Spring Frog w/Mushroom and Spring Party Car.

Design Steps:

1.  Cut a piece of navy card stock 7 x 6 1/4
  • Score along the 7 inch side at 1 1/4 and 3 1/2
  • Valley fold the card at the 3 1/2 inch score and then mountain fold at the 1 1/4 inch score as shown above
2.  Cut the candle DP at 1 3/4 x 6
  • Yellow Star DP at 1 x 6
  • Birthday cake DP at 3 1/4 x 6
3.  Glue the yellow star DP to the fold as shown and the cake DP to the inside of the card as shown
4.  Flip the card over and glue the candle DP to the front of the card as shown.  Add dimension dots to the flap and then close the flap
5.  Cut 2 piece of white card stock with the second from the largest stitched die and one navy circle with the largest scallop die
6.  Using the Spring Frog w/Mushrooms cut out the frog in green, white and black.  Using the Spring Party Car cut out the pieces in red, yellow star DP, navy and black.  Assemble the pieces and ink the white circles with blue
7.  Attach the circle with glue and a dimension dot on the left side
8.  Stamp your sentiment for the front and layer onto navy card stock.  Stamp the sentiment for the inside of the card
9.  Glue down the frog ( I cut the front leg to slip on the balloons)

10.  Glue the inside cricle directly behind the front circle.  Add the sentiment on the front and your card is complete

Froggy Birthday

Hey there CottageCutz friends!

Kris here again to share with you some crafty inspiration! For today's card I used the new Spring Frog w/ Mushroom and the Pond w/ Cattails and Lily Pad from the Easter/Spring Release.

Design Steps:

I used some papers by Doodlebug Design and since I hate to waste pretty papers, I cut my red down to a 5-1/2" square, then I cut the inside out since it will be covered up anyways, and now I have a cute ladybug paper (backside of the red) to use on another project ☺

I cut some green and teal patterned papers to 5-1/4" wide and layered them onto card front (as shown in my completed card photo).

I used a sunrays stencil to apply green distress oxide inks to a white circle I had die cut using the Pierced Circles Set, then layered that onto 2 larger nested circles in shades of green.

I then die cut all my decorative elements from white cardstock and colored with Copics, and the sentiments I cut from blue and red cardstock + white glittered cardstock.  Easy peasy!

I hope you enjoyed my project today!  ✿ Kris

Spring Frog Shadow Box - NEW RELEASE

Hello Friends!

It is NEW RELEASE TIME!  The collection is called EASTER and it has 17 incredible pieces!  They are so perfect for Easter and Spring.   Right now you can save up to 65% on these dies if you buy the bundle and believe me you are going to want the bundle.  If you purchase the dies individually they are 30% off.  This sale will not last so stop by the store today right HERE

I am making a Shadow Box card today.  This card features the Spring Frog w/Mushroom.  I love that the card will fold flat for mailing.

I started by cutting all of my pieces, inking and then gluing them together

Next I created my shadow box which has three layers of dimension.  The back is the sky, middle is long grass and the front layer is the shorter grass

The final step is to place the sun and clouds on the background blue.  The middle layer has the frog glued to the long grass.  And the front has the mushroom, flowers, ladybug and sentiment glued to the short grass
