Hello 2019!

Hi!

It's Anja here. Year 2018 has nearly come to an end. It's been an interesting year for me. Busy at work, a lot going on in my personal life. But mostly positive things happening. It was a good year, I won't lie. And I hope good thing continue in 2019. Not just for me, but for all of us.

For my last crafty project in 2018 I made two cards. One with Santa and one with a Chilly Willy Penguin.

For two cards I used:
- Cottage Cutz dies (Chilly Willy Penguin, Santa Peeker, Circle Set, Pierced Circle Set),
- Distress Inks (Fired Brick, Pumice Stone, Spiced Marmalade, Wild Honey, Peeled Paint, Stormy Sky),
- white watercolor paper for die cuts,
- white, green, red, blue and black card stock for die cuts,
- Zig watercolor markers (Blush, Pink Flesh),
- watercolor brush,
- black pen,
- silver string,
- adhesive foam pads,
- stencil (brick pattern),
- paper glue.

First I cut and colored the Santa. I used markers to color the face. This time I used colored card stock and just emphasized the edges with Distress Inks.

I did the same with the penguin. I used black pen for the eyes.

I cut two sets of numbers. Later I saw that I cut 8 instead of 0 :)

Then I cut two card bases. I used pierced circles for the larger circles. I cut the largest circles form the sets.

I colored the bottom of the first circle with blue.

And I used stencil for the second one.

When I had all the pieces cut and colored I assembled two cards. I used adhesive foam pads to adhere Santa and Willy. Then I cut two short strings and glued it into the hands of both. Then I glued the numbers on the string. And my two card were finished.

Before I go I want to invite you to the Scrapping Cottage store to check the After Christmas sale.

Thank you for stopping by and following my crafting. It means a lot.
I wish you all a pleasant celebrations tomorrow and a happy and healthy new year 2019!

Peeking Santa

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Saturday edition of the Blog. Hope you are enjoying your summer. It's been so hot and humid here in the Pittsburgh area. So I thought I would cool things done a bit and bring you a Christmas card.

There isn't a new release of dies for July,  so we have decided to have a throwback month.  The team will be featuring some of our previously released dies to give you fresh ideas for using them.

My favorite TV shopping channel is having a big Christmas in July event. And, of course, I already started my Christmas shopping.
Since, I am in the Christmas spirit I am featuring the Santa Peeker and the Peeker Pocket. dies. Let's get started with some details on how I created this card.
Step 1: This week I started with my layout. I saw this one on Splitcoaststampers and thought it would work great for the card that I had in mind. It would allow me to use Christmas patterned paper as well as traditional Christmas colors.
Step 2: I chose my colors for my card. The card base 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" (#1) is red and I chose a matching patterned paper 3 7/8" x 5 1/8" for layer #2.
For layer 3 on the sketch, I am using the peeker pocket.
Layer #4 is red cardstock cut at 1/2" x 5 1/2".
Layer #5 is mossy meadow twine that matches the peeker pocket.
Step 3: Started cutting the die cut elements. First up is my peeker pocket. I used mossy meadow cardstock that picks up the color in the patterned paper.
Next, I cut the Santa. I colored his face and nose with Copic Markers EOO (skin white) & E02 (fruit pink). The arms, hat & beard are cut in cardstock. For the holly on his hat, I used wink of stella pen for a bit of bling.
The last die cut piece is my sentiment. I thought Believe was so appropriate with a Santa image. The word is from the Believe w/Holly Flourish die.
Step 4: Started my card assembly.
I thought the twine needed something else so I tied a little bow and used a red enamel dot center.  Attached the believe phrase with Ranger multi matte medium to complete my card.

Well that's it for me for this week. I hope I have given you a bit of inspiration if you own this pocket and Santa die. If you don't have them, they are still available in the online store. See you next Saturday.
