Aloha Friday!

Aloha!  It's Jeanne today with a hello/thinking of you card with a tropical twist.  This card uses one of the new slimline dies.  This release is wonderful with a great selection of dies.  It features awesome background dies which can be on their own or to highlight dies that you already own!  I found this leafy background was the perfect backdrop for one of my favorite dies from last summer.  To make things even better, the new slimline release is on sale right now for a limited time!

I started this card by creating a blended background in several shades of green by using Distress Oxide inks and blending brushes.

Next I cut a panel using the Leafy Background Slimline die.  I edged the outside and several of the leaves with a darker green ink.

My flowers are from Tropical Bouquet and I used various colors of cardstock to cut them.  I inked the edges to get a bit of depth.

I cut the word Aloha from the Aloha & Ukulele die.  I cut one from gold foil and three from a dark brown cardstock.

To complete the background I adhered my leaves to a dark green panel cut from the largest of the Nested Rectangles Slimline from the first slimline release.  I stacked all the "aloha" words placing the gold foil on top.

I placed my flowers in the corners....

and my sentiment at an angle between them.  This card reminds me of the aloha shirts my husband has with the dark background, light foliage and bright flowers.  A reminder of the islands!

Sea of Love

Happy Friday! It's Jeanne today with a card using one of the fun new slimline dies combined with a few dies from summer of 2020 Pirates and Sea Creatures.  The Waves Slimline coordinates perfectly with that release.

I first cut the fish and mermaid tail from various colors of cardstock.

Next I worked on the ocean.  I cut a 5 1/2 x 9 inch piece of mixed media paper so I could do a watercolor technique I call "splat".

I swatch Distress Oxide on a craft mat and spray with water.  Then I dip the paper in the ink.

I keep going until I'm satisfied with the results.  I use a heat gun every once in awhile to set the ink.

I used the largest of the Slimline Rectangles to cut a base from white cardstock and stamped the sentiment in the upper left.  I cut the water piece into three strips - two 2 inches and one 1 1/2 inches.

I opted to use only two of the strips and cut them with two of the Waves dies.  I placed them on the bottom and added my mermaid tail.  The over hang on the right, I cut with scissors.

Then I added my fish.  I had made more than I ended up using but that's perfect - I have some fish and a water strip for another card.

To finish the card added a pearl to the shell.  I hope you've enjoyed my card today.  Be sure to visit the online store where the new release is on sale for a limited time.

Snowflake Present Slimline

Happy Friday!  It's Jeanne today and I hope everyone has had a chance to check out the new Slimline dies in the online store.  They are wonderful!  There are a great variety of styles including some beautiful background dies.  I'm using one today to create an elegant holiday card.  I know it's July but so many blogs are celebrating Christmas in July, I thought I'd give it a go with these beautiful snowflakes.

I started by cutting three panels - two from plain white cardstock, one using the largest of Nested Rectangle Slimline dies and one using the Snowflake Background Slimline.  I cut a panel just slightly smaller from Diamond Glitter paper.

I layered these together.  By cutting the glitter paper slightly smaller I can glue around the edges and sandwich it between the two white layers.

When using the Snowflake die save the snowflakes that come out of the holes. They make wonderful embellishments or shaker bits!

I added sparkly ribbon like you would see on a package.

Next was time for the bow.  Cut approximately 18-22inches of ribbon and a few pieces of gold twine. I added some silver later.

Wrap the ribbon around three of your fingers and then hold in the center.  Add the extra twine in loops on the back and hold these down in the center as well.

Using the twine tie the ribbon tightly in the center.

When the center is secure, fluff up the bow.  Pull the sides out and twist and scrunch.  It looks more complicated than it is.  There really is no wrong way to do it. (And you can use larger ribbon and this same technique for gift wrapping presents!)

I used a couple of glue dots to hold down the bow and added a few rhinestones for extra sparkle.  I love the elegant simplicity of this card.

Udderly Amazing

Happy Friday!  It's Jeanne today with a slimline card featuring some cows from the fun, new Country Farm release.  I used several of the slimline dies and the Country Farm Cows.

I started with this sketch from Splitcoaststampers.  When I saw the sketch I knew these cows would be perfect.

To start I cut the cows from white cardstock and colored using Distress Oxide inks.

These are the colors I used for the cows.  For my black I colored the cardstock with a black Copic marker.

I cut the base rectangle from the largest of the Nested Stitched Rectangles.  I used the third largest Rectangle and cut two - one from green and one from white.  I used the Clouds Slimline to create a stencil and stenciled the clouds on the white rectangle.  Using the Grass Slimline I cut the grass and glued it to the cloud panel.

For the sketch I needed to cut the cloud panel.  I wanted my stitched lines to be on the inside under the sentiment circle, so I cut 5 1/2 inches from the right.

Then I switched the two sides so my long side was on the left and the stitching in the middle.

I added the cows to the left side....

and heat embossed my sentiment in white on a red circle.

Be sure to visit the online store where there is huge July 4th sale going on right now.  Lot's of great dies are on sale including the Country Farm release.  And there is a NEW release of slimline dies that feature wonderful and unique designs!
