Gardening Mice Slimline Card

Happy Friday!  It's Jeanne sharing today.  I've been seeing slimline cards everywhere and I've been wanting to make one.  So I thought I'd combine some of the mice in this release and create a fun gardening scene.
I did some research into sizes of slimlines and there are slight variances.  I went with a card that is 8 1/2  x 3 1/2 inches.  It is easily made by using an 8 1/2 x 11 inch piece of card stock, cutting it at 7 inches and then scoring it at the 3 1/2 inch point.  I cut 1/2 inch off the remaining 4 inches of cardstock, giving me a panel 8 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches that I could use to stencil and assemble my dies on.  When finished it gets adhered to the card base.  One sheet of card stock gives you one card with little waste.
I cut my pieces from the Gardening Mouse, the Mouse w/ Garden Wagon and the Gardening Cat w/ Wagon dies in white cardstock and then colored them with the inks shown below.
I used Distress Oxide ink for the animals, dirt and wagon.....

...and Stampin' Up! dye ink for the flowers and stenciling.

The stencil I have for grass is double edged, so that after you have colored the grass, the opposite side can be used to mask off what you have just colored.  It works quite well and I was even able to align it to repeat since it is not as long as the slimline panel.
I used a cloud stencil for the sky.  This one was a bit trickier to get to line up to the extended length, but much of the sky is covered by the mice and sentiment.
I worked from left to right to lay out the elements.
The flowers are tucked into the holes in the garden bed.
The hedgie looked like he needed something, so he got his own flower to hold.  The wagon in this die can be made to go either left or right!

I love the bright colors of this card and used sequins in matching colors for sparkle and whimsy.  My daughter said they look like seeds so I'm going with that!

Kitty & Hedgie Birthday Wishes

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Saturday edition of the Blog.

The 19 new designs in the Garden release are still being featured in the online store. These new dies are perfect for Father's Day, birthdays, thank you, or even a thinking of you card for the person who loves to garden.

For my card today, I am featuring the new Garden Cat w/Wagon die and created a birthday card. This little cat and hedgehog are just too cute and I thought they would make a great whimsical card. So let's get started with some details on how I created my card.

Design Steps:

I started off by selecting my cardstock and designer paper. I had a layout in mind with several layers,  but it didn't work for these images. So I flipped the designer paper over and decided to use the striped side. My original plan was to use the side of the paper with balloons but it wasn't working for me. This is also a square card. I hadn't planned on that when I started though (lol)!! I realized this was going to be a work in progress this week.

Blue card Base: 5 3/4" Square
Striped Designer Paper: 5 1/2" square
Next, I cut the cat in an ivory confetti cardstock and sponged fossilized amber ink for a different look.  The wagon and hedgie are cut in different shades of brown cardstocks and also sponged in the matching inks for more depth.

I plan on giving this card to a little 5 year old boy so I didn't want to place flowers in the wagon. I thought balloons and then pulled out the Festive Birthday Greeting die. It was released in June 2019. I cut 3 for inside the wagon and then 2 additional for the cat to carry.
Because of the bold striped background, I needed another layer to place my images on. I picked one of the colors (lemon-lime) in the designer paper and used the largest Wacky Stitched Rectangle die. Looks like it's out of stock but the Stitched Rectangle die would be a good substitute.

I thought I would use the Happy phrase that's part of the Festive Birthday Greeting die and then stamp birthday wishes in the corner of the rectangle. I stamped with a royal blue ink.

Now I am ready to start card assembly. I attached the images to the rectangle panel with dimensional adhesive. That always gives a nice look to the card.
Attached the designer paper to the card base with double sided tape and then the image panel with the same adhesive. For the balloons that the cat is carrying, I used a dab of ranger multi medium matte adhesive.
To finish off my card I added a few royal blue enamel dots. And, that completes my card for this week. I hope I have given you an idea for a way to use this new die. See you next Saturday!

Garden Cat with a Wagon

Hi Janja here. Welcome to the blog.
Today I would like to share with you a card made with another cute die from the gardening release.

- CottageCutz dies: Garden Cat w/ Wagon, Holiday Gate With Wreath
- blank card: 5 5/16" x 5 5/16" (13,5 x 13,5 cm), folded
- white cardstock: 4 3/4" x 4 3/4" (12 x 12 cm)
- different colors of cardstock
- different colors of ink pads
- enamel dots
- glue, double-sided adhesive tape, self-adhesive foam pads

Start by die-cutting all the pieces for the main image out from different colors of cardstock. Shade all cutouts with ink pads.

Stamp the wood on beige cardstock with coffee-colored ink. Then cut out the gate twice. Use scissors to cut one in half. Assemble the fence.

Trim white cardstock. Use a large brush and blue ink to shade the background.

Paste the main image on the prepared background as shown.

On the back, add self-adhesive foam over the entire surface and attach to the front of the card.

Lastly add shade under the wagon and shoes. Use a light grey ink pad.

Thank you for stopping by.

Father's Day Cat

Happy Friday!  It's Jeanne today and I have a Father's Day card for you using some of the dies from the new Gardening release.  I can't believe it's already mid May!  Father's Day will be here before you know it, so I thought I would start now.  Actually, any masculine themed card is something I always need and this could easily be a birthday card just by changing the sentiment!
I used various colors of cardstock to die cut the cat from the Garden Cat w/ Wagon die and the Lawnmower using the Lawnmower die.  I inked the edges with similar or matching ink to give the pieces some depth and shading.
I glued most of the pieces together but not all.  Some needed to be placed when I glued them to the card.

I wanted a lawn scene for the front so I stenciled the grass on a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch white panel.  Then I stenciled clouds using a cloud stencil.  The grass stencil I used has a positive and negative edge, so after stenciling the grass, I used the other side to cover up the grass while I stenciled the sky.

I cut a panel from wood-look paper 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 inches and then used the largest of the Stitched Rectangle dies to cut down my stenciled panel.
After centering the stenciled panel, I laid out my cat and lawnmower.
I started with the cat on the left and then placed the lawnmower handle and grass bag.  You'll notice my sentiment in white - I also have the cat and lawnmower in white.  I often cut everything out of thin white cardstock and assemble (usually with only the essential shapes no details) so that I can play with the layout of my card.  I store these with the die so that the next time I want to use the image on a card I have it to "play with" again!
I settled on a grass green for the sentiment and mounted the panel to an A2 matching green card base.

New Die Release - Meow are You?

Hello!  This is Sukie and I have a sweet card to share for my design team post.  There's a brand new die release with 19 new dies as part of the Gardening Bundle which are currently on sale!
I used the Garden Cat w/Wagon and the Gardening Hat & Gloves at the focal point of my card.  I also inked up a die cut circle from the Double Stitched Oval Set.  The yellow gingham paper is from my stash and provides a cheery background for my card.
I used a combination of inks and card stock for my die cut pieces.  I found the perfect sentiment in my stamp collection from the Scrappy Moms (retired) Party Animals stamp set.
I created my card by layering the oval on top of the gingham card base.  The Garden Cat w/Wagon was nestled inside the oval.
The Gardening Hat was added as an embellishment.  The sentiment strip was snipped off into a flag and adhered as the finishing accent on my card.
Here are the dies used on my card, available in the store:
