Just For Guys Design Team Samples (Part 2)

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit today. We are sampling DT cards from the new Just For Guys release. There are 14 dies in this release and it's currently on sale for 25% off.
They are ideal for all your masculine type cards. For all your car buffs with a great retro and classic look. And, the Retro Alphabet dies have so many possibilities.

We have had a good response when we do a group post on a release. It gives you the opportunity to see more card samples from the Design Team. So we are continuing that again this month. We have 3 more samples for your viewing pleasure today.

Card 1:  This first card is from Pam MacKay. She used the Dad's Tools die to create this great masculine card. It's called a Bench Fold card and here is a link to the Splitcoaststampers tutorial.
This is such a perfect card (Birthday or Father's Day) for the man who loves using his tools.

She did such a fabulous job turning it into a work bench, even down to the faux wood paneling. Did you notice her sentiment above the work bench? She used the Retro Tag Toppers die to stamp her sentiment. And, this does fold flat for mailing!!
Card 2:  This next sample is from Janja Albrecht. She also used the Dad's Tools die to create a great retirement card. And, a Splitcoaststampers tutorial helped her create a side step card. Here is a link to that tutorial.

She decorated it to resemble a man's tool chest. So spot-on for the guy who is getting ready to retire and will finally have the time to spend using all those tools. The tools all look so realistic- don't you agree?
Card 3: Our last sample for today is from Jeanne Knobbe. She used the Happy Father's Day Phrase + Racecars & Flags die to create a card for the race loving Dad. This would also work for the guy who is a car enthusiast or "gearhead" as some people say. Her card colors and papers are terrific for a masculine card.
The team did such a fabulous job with their samples today. I hope they have sparked some additional ideas for ways to use these new dies.  And, remember they are currently 25% off in the online store.

Have Fun -- On the Road

Hi, Lois here with a card made with two of the brand-new CottageCutz "Just for Guys" dies.  Included in this set are 14 dies perfect for that masculine card you've been struggling with!  I used two of them on my card today.  Again I looked back at an old Sketch Challenge layout on Splitcoaststampers.

I used this layout for my card, but I rotated it 180 degrees so that the larger area is at the bottom rather than at the top.

When I saw the Automotive Icons die, I thought I could use the die-cut pieces to create a background -- so that's exactly what I did.  I put a two-sided adhesive sheet on the back of a 6" x 6" piece of black cardstock and cut out the images.

In order to get my top layer balanced, I made a template out of some copy paper . . .

. . . and then cut my cardstock, as follows:

White - 8 1/" x 5 1/2", 3 3/4" x 5"
Black - 4" x 5 1/4"

Using the copy paper template, I cut a lime green piece and a white piece, trimming the white piece slightly smaller.

I then attached most of the Automotive Icon pieces down the sides of the smaller white panel, creating my "patterned paper" background.

Now it was time to cut my Build-a-Sign pieces.  After I decided which one of the cute designs I wanted to use for my card, I cut out the pieces using scraps of colored cardstock.

I then colored them with Copic markers to give them a bit more texture . . .

. . . and created my focal layer, adding the car silhouette from the Automotive Icons, and stamping the sentiment.

Here again is my finished card.

Bowl of Flowers

Hi!

This is Anja. How was you week? I've been busy at work. Lots of projects to finish, before the school year ends. When I manage to get some free time, I've been crafting. Flowers are still one of my favourites dies to work with. An because I'm still waiting for the new dies to come, I used flowers again an made a flower arrangement.

For this card I used:
- Cottage Cutz dies (Flowers for Mom, Hat Box with Flowers, Mom's Garden Bouquet, Chicken Noodle Soup, Made w/ Love Phrase, Nested Stitched Doily Set),
- Distress Inks (Black Soot, Dusty Concord, Peeled Paint, Mowed Lawn, Barn Door, Mustard Seed, Shabby Shutters, Stormy Sky),
- white card stock for die cuts,
- white card base (10,5x21 cm),
- patterned paper (2,5x21 cm),
- scissors,
- adhesive tape,
- paper glue.

First I die cut the flowers. I used Distress Inks to color it.

Then I die cut and colored the bowl.

I cut the flowers in pieces and arranged in the bowl. I used adhesive tape in the back to hold it together.

Then I cut the doily, to look like a tablecloth.

I also cut the sentiment and colored it with Distress Ink.

When I had all the pieces cut and colored I arranged it on the card base. I also cut a strip from patterned paper, so it looks like a wooden table.

This is all about my card for today. I hope next week I start wit more masculine cards. New "Just for Guys" release is still on sale. You should check it out.

Enjoy your Sunday and see you gain in a week.

Anja Z.
