Stop and Smell the Roses!

It's Jeanne here today sharing a card featuring some of my favorite things - hummingbirds, roses and Prismacolor pencils!  This beautiful stamp and die set is part of the new release set to be available September 20.

This is an A2 side fold card.  The base is 11 x 8 1/2 inches, scored at the 5 1/2 inch mark.  I cut a piece of patterned paper 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 to completely cover front.

I first picked out the patterned paper and then matched the colors for the rose to it.  I used Copic markers under the colored pencils.

Next I die cut the foliage from the Fancy Doves with Vine die set and glued it directly to the card.  I then die cut the bird and roses.

I tied the ribbon on the bottom of the die cut and popped it off the card using foam dots.

My last step was to add the sentiment and some sequins. I decided to rip the edge of the sentiment strip to give it a more organic feel.

Birthday Gift Card!

Hello Scrapping Cottage Fans!

It is Pam from Stamper at Heart Blog Spot

I know now a days that so many young people like gift cards.  And it really takes all the thrill out of hunting for the perfect gift!  However it is a lot easier and faster to get the gift card.  So to make it a little more personal I decided to make the gift card holder!

Designer steps:

1.  Start with a 4 1/8 x 9 3/4 piece of white card stock.  Score at 2 1/8, 5, 6 and 7.  Fold as shown this is the inside of the gift card

 2.  Flip the card over and glue the mountain fold (which is now the vally fold) together.  Then flip the card back over

 3.  Cut 4 pieces of DP at 4 x 2 3/4 and cut 2 pieces at 2 x 4.  Working on the inside of the card glue one of the 4 x 2 3/4 down as shown

 4.  On the inside glue the flap for the card holder down with a tiny lines of glue on both of the far left and right edges and then push it down onto the DP

 5.  Still working on the inside glue the 2 x 4 inch DP to the top flap and glue the 2 3/4 x 4 piece of DP to the bottom half of the gift card

 6.  Flip the card over and glue down the DP to the front of the card

7.  Next cut out the cupcake using the  Cottage Cutz Stitched Cupcake die also using Cottage Cutz Celebrate die cut out the sentiment.   Assemble the pieces

8.  Glue to the front flap as shown

 9.  Flip the card over and add a sentiment just below the pocket for the gift card and add a small velcro dot for secure closing

Haunted Mansion

Hi, Lois here.  I hope you are enjoying this long Labor Day weekend.  Now that September has arrived, Halloween is just around the corner.  CottageCutz has some new, really cute Halloween dies.  My card today uses one of them, as well as a couple of older dies.  The name of the Halloween die brings memories of many trips to Disney World -- Haunted Mansion.

I usually start a card by cutting the card base and mats, but this was Halloween -- why not mix it up!  This die has many small pieces to it.  I first ran the die through my Big Shot using gray cardstock.  I was able to color many of the gray pieces with various Copic markers.  Some pieces, like the ghost and the insides of the windows had to be cut from white cardstock because the gray was too dark.

So now I was ready to gather my card base pieces.  I have an old patterned paper pad made up of photographs.  One of the photos is of a dark night sky.  That's the one I used for my spooky house.

I cut a strip of the green to form the ground and constructed my card base.  You can just about see the outlines of the spooky-looking trees in the background.

I decided  to use the photo on the die packaging as a guide for constructing my house.  And the jack-o-lantern is from the Calendar Icons die.  I placed a small piece of yellow cardstock behind his face.

Now I was ready to complete my card.  The trees are from another CottageCutz die called Campsite Clothesline.   And don't look too closely -- I forgot to include the spider webs on the front of the house.  It was too late when I discovered that!  But I did stamp a small sentiment and placed it on a "sign" in front of my house.

The Haunted Mansion die, as well as other Halloween dies and several new series of Christmas dies, will be available for purchase in the CottageCutz store starting September 20th.  Because of the support of our wonderful customers, it has become necessary to move into a larger warehouse.  Because of the move, the store is temporarily on hold.  But that gives you lots of time to decide what you want next!  LOL!

Baked with Love

This is Anja again. My colleague asked me to make her a card for her friend who loves to bake. And this is what I came up with. I played with embossing and Distress Oxides.

I used:
- Cottage Cutz dies (Tiered Wedding Cake, Baking In The Kitchen, Nested Stitched Scallop Circle Set, Nested Stitched Doily Set),
- Distress Oxides (Antique Linen, Abandoned Coral, Vintage Photo),
- transparent embossing powder,
- Versamark embossing ink,
- watercolor paper (10,7x14,7 cm),
- white card base (11x15 cm),
- paper glue,
- enamel dot,
- Wink of Stella glitter brush pen.

First I stamped the images on watercolor paper. I used the stamping platform to make it easier. I embossed the images with transparent embossing powder.

I colored the images with water and Distress Oxides. I spritzed a few drops of color all over the paper at the end. I used the same technique to color the cake.

I decided to stamp the sentiment directly on the cake.

Then I die cut two different circles that combine each other nicely.

And after that I just combined and glued all the pieces together. I added a little glitter with Wink of Stella marker to the cake and colored images on the background.

Grapevine Wreath Thanksgiving Card

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Saturday edition of the Blog.

I can't believe we are into September already. Today there is a chill in the air that makes it feel just like a fall day. The temperatures will rise again for sure this month, but today I am thinking fall. And, with fall comes one of my favorite holidays, and that would be Thanksgiving.

I pulled out an older CottageCutz die, Build-A-Grapevine Wreath, to create my card. Also used the Blessings Phrase. So let's get started with some details on how I created my card.

Step 1: Once my dies were selected, I chose my card colors. The fall colors I am using are chocolate chip, curry, cajun (cinnamon color), olive green.

Step 2: Cut the grapevine wreath, leaves and acorns on this next step. I cut the wreath 2x in chocolate chip cardstock. I did that for a bit more dimension. Sponged the leaves with the matching inks. The acorn tops I sponged in chocolate chip ink.

Step 3: I wanted a wood background for the wreath. I used a wood planks embossing folder with kraft cardstock and then sponged on the cajun ink.

 

 Step 4: Cut the Blessings Phrase in chocolate chip ink. Again I cut it 2x. I like the dimension that 2 cuts gives my card. I adhered the 2 pieces together using multi medium matte by Ranger.  I like this adhesive because it dries clear.

Started the assembly of my card. Adhered all the pieces of the grapevine wreath using the same multi medium matte adhesive. I wanted a more weathered look on the wood plank background so I sponged on some curry ink.

 

Added the Blessings Phrase. I adhered this panel to some cajun cardstock.

Step 5: To complete my card,  I stamped the Harvest word on Cajun cardstock in black ink and cut a flag shape. Used some curry bakers twine and made a bow for my wreath. Added a Cajun enamel dot to the center. I layered the panels to my chocolate chip card base. The base is 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" (A2 size)
