Easter Blessings Chickee Die Faux Shadow Box

Happy SUPERBOWL Sunday Scrapping Cottage friends!

Melinda here with you today. I am not a big football fan, but my hubby, son and brothers all love to watch.... so they will be tuning in this evening.... How about you? If I am lucky, I will be able to get lost here in my craft room...lol!  Today I am sharing a cute little Easter décor piece I created with dies from the new SPRING RELEASE! Here's my project.

I created this little faux shadow box with a cute little décor piece inside. 

I started by taking the adorable little pieces from the Spring Chickee in Basket die and coloring them. I cut them all from plain white cardstock.

I cut out two of the Nested Stitched Doilies from the die Set in white cardstock. I wanted to make some mats for them and a two hour circle cutting saga began!!!!...lol! I have some punches and recently got this circle cutter. I know some things are great tools and some are not. This, for me, is a big fat NOT! It was something I just couldn't use with ease. I didn't have the right size punches either. I didn't want to pull out my electronic cutter for a simple circle....so the lesson here...

Going forward, I will be collecting all of the basics from Cottage Cutz... I don't want to go around the "circle saga mountain" again...lol!

Next, in staying with the circle theme, I wanted to create a rosette. So I cut out a piece of paper 5" x 12" from some patterned paper in my stash. I scored it every half inch.

I then cut it in half, so I had two pieces that measured 2.5 x 12. They were both scored. I then "accordion" folded them. 

For one I started with the first flap up. For the other I started with the first flap down. This way when it came time to join them together, they would just fall right in line.

Here's a photo of the adhesive on one end tab. I just adhered the first flap of the other one, right onto that piece.

Here's what it looks like joined together. You can't tell where one begins and the other ends.

I then adhered both ends together. That creates this piece.

Once you gather the folds together, you lay it flat and you get your rosette. Here you can see that you can change the size of the rosette based on how loose you gather it, or how tight and small you make the center.

I then used some hot glue and a circle punched piece of cardstock to the back.

I do the same thing in the front. I use hot glue so that all the folds will stay together.

I wanted to add a little extra something, so I had this white tulle netting with a little sparkle.I just cut a length of it off the spool. Approximately 20 inches or so and just gathered it in the center.

I folded it and more or less found the center. I used a little twist tie from my stash to keep it gathered in the center.

I then poofed it out and saw that it was way too big for the rosette so....

I gathered it together and chopped of about 3/4-1"

I then arranged the cute little pieces onto the circle doily mats.

I then added all that onto the tulle and rosette.

Here's another view. you can see I added some foam in between the layers to give it all some extra dimension.

Next, I decided to create what I am calling a "faux shadow box" I needed the inside to be a finished size of 6x6. So I worked out from there. Here is a photo as I was putting it together. There is some definite "tweaking" I had to do, but as soon as I can, I will share the dimensions. I kind of had to "Frankenstein" this one.

Once I got it all together, I added the sentiments Easter and Blessings along the top. Here is a closer look at the blessings.

I have it sitting on my entrance table. I will finish decorating it for the coming season and this will definitely be a part of it.

Ewe Are So Sweet

Hello CottageCutz friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Saturday edition of the Blog.

Today, I have for your viewing pleasure a card for Easter featuring the new Spring Sheep die. So, let's get started with some details on how I created my card. 

Design Steps:

I decided to make a slimline card this week and I used the Circle Windows Slimline die to place the sheep. I cut some blue patterned paper from my stash. I liked the soft whimsical appeal. On my white card base, I used a stencil and stenciled some clouds with broken china distress ink.

I cut the sheep, tulips and grass with cardstock. For the tulips I used 2 shades of purple cardstock. I cut more than I would need because I wasn't sure how I was going to place them.  

In the center window, I stamped my sentiment using a grape ink. 

Now that all my elements are prepared, I am ready to start card assembly.  I attached just the top portion of the designer paper to the card base. I wanted some wiggle room to get my grass and tulips positioned on the lower portion of the card. The grass is attached with glue dots and the sheep with dimensional adhesive. 

To finish off my card I added some of the tulips to the circle windows and that completes this design. I then secured the bottom of the designer paper with double sided tape and liquid glue.

Easter Peekers

 Hello Friends

It is Pam sharing with you on this fine Thursday.  I hope you all are doing well.  I am continuing with making my Easter cards using our New Spring release.  Today I am using Spring Windows w/Peekers.  Stacey,  a friend,  that teaches card classes at a local store made a really cute card using this sketch.  I loved it so much I thought I would give it a try.  Thanks for the inspiration Stacey.

Design Steps:

1.  Use a mini slimline base measuring 6 1/2 x 6 1/4 folded in half.  Cut a piece of Flower DP, Checked DP and pink card stock 6 x 3.  In the flower DP use the 4th from the largest Pierced Circle to cut the hole. In the pink card stock cut the hole using the 5th from the largest Pierced Circle making sure they line up

2.  Glue the pink behind the flower DP and then glue the checked DP behind the pink card stock (make sure not to glue to closely to the hole so you can slip in the bunny and chicks)

3.  Using the Spring Windows w/Peekers cut out the bunny and chick on: grey, yellow, orange, black, pink and blue card stock.  Color in the eyes with a fine tip black maker and add the white dots to the bunny's eyes with a white gel pen.  Assemble the pieces with a fine tip glue

4.  Glue in the chick on the right first then add the bunny and finally the chick on the left.  Add the little paws and chick feet

5.  To decorate the top left of the circle cut out blue flowers and greenery using the Spring Gnome Cottage die.  Glue them to the card as shown below and then add your sentiment

"Spring Showers Mouse"

When I saw the "Spring Showers Mouse" die, it brought my back to some of my favorite things about spring.  I don't know about you, but I love spring rain.  The smell of wet grass and flowers is always refreshing.  Especially after a long winter.

Easter Sunday

Hello Friends

It is Pam filling in for Wendy today.  I am starting to make a few of my Easter cards to get a little ahead.  The New Release die I am using is Baptism.  It has several really nice pieces that can be used in a number of different cards such as Easter, Weddings, Baptism and Sympathy.

Design Steps:

1.  I am using a mini white slimline for a base 6 1/4 x 6 1/2 folded in half.  Using the second from the largest Stitched Rectangle Slimline die I was able to make the cuts work using yellow DP.  Cut orange flowered DP 5 1/2 x 2 3/4.  Last cut a piece of orange dotted DP 5 1/2 x 1 3/4 and use a border punch on the bottom of it

2.  Ink all of the edges of the white card base and the DP before you glue together.  Glue down the yellow to card base next the flowered DP and last the dotted DP as shown above

3.  Using the Baptism die cut out the pieces in brown wood DP, white, yellow DP, and black (black Bible and little orange flowers not pictured). Cut the squares from yellow DP with the 4th from the smallest Pierced Square die

4.  Glue the squares at a diagonal as shown above.  Pop up the church in the middle, glue down the Bibles and the Cross flat.  Add the little orange flowers cut with Sending Hugs Bear add little pearls to the inside of the flowers and glue down your sentiment

Farmhouse Easter

Welcome back today I am here to share my latest slimline card using Spring Bunny wGiant Carrot and Christmas on the Farm slimline die. 

To make the background slimline die follow along with the theme of Easte I added fun bright colors to go along with Easter.  I cut the Christmas from the back of the truck and made the pickup blue. 

I used a fun patterned piece of paper with some light flowers because we all think Easter and flowers right?!!
