Interactive Slimline Birthday Card

Happy Friday!  It's Jeanne today and I have a fun, interactive card featuring the new Slimline dies and dies from the Safari release. Both releases are on sale right now for a limited time at the online store.  The interactive part of this card are the peeking windows from the Lift Flap Slimline die that allow for a surprise.  In fact, this card does not even open up - the "inside" of the card is under the windows!

To start, I cut a lion, zebra and baby gorilla along with leaves and sentiment from the Safari release dies.  I cut oval Windows Slimline die set and stamped my sentiment on that.

I set this all aside to construct the card itself.

After picking some safari themed paper I adhered it to a light weight cardstock using a self adhesive sheet.  I wanted to use this for my flaps but the paper was too thin and had a pattern on the back.  By adhering these together it gives the flaps a bit of weight and a solid back side.

Using the largest Nested Rectangle I cut a card base from brown cardstock.  Since this card doesn't open like a traditional card, this IS my card - it will not be glued to side or top opening base.  I used the third largest rectangle to cut a white panel for underneath my window flaps.  This rectangle is just slightly smaller than the Lift Flap panel.

Using coordinating paper, I cut two 2 1/2 inch squares for behind my top and bottom windows and glued those to the white panel.  To get them in place I drew very light pencil lines where the window opening would be.  I also used this to place my "Happy Birthday" sentiment.  I used a slightly off-kilter sentiment so if it weren't lined up perfectly, it wouldn't matter.

I stacked the panels and glued them to the card base.

When gluing the elements to the flaps take care not to overlap the hinge side.  You can have elements hang off the outer edges and the windows will still open.

The lion is popped up using foam dots.

The other two animals are glued to the the top and bottom inside windows.

Finally, I added some bronze "photo corners" to my flaps panel.

I hope you've enjoyed my card today.  Interactive cards are always delightful to give (and receive.)  These Lift Flaps can be adapted to any theme to make your card extra fun!

Hello

Hello!  This is Sukie and today I have a card to share for my design team day.  I used the new Slimline dies for my card which were perfect for creating a springtime card to just say "hello"!

I cut the slimline card base in white card stock using the Scalloped Stitched Rectangle Slimline die set.  The Bird w/Bluebells and the Clouds and Sun were also cut out of white card stock and shaded with some Oxide Inks.  The sentiment was cut from the Stitched Alphabet set using some patterned paper.
I adhered some coordinating patterned paper on a slimline card base and layered the Scalloped Stitched Rectangle on top.  The "hello" sentiment was added in the bottom left hand corner.
The adorable bird and bluebells were placed next to the sentiment filling in some of the empty space.
Next, I affixed two of the clouds on each end of my card leaving enough space in the center for the 3rd cloud and sun.
The largest cloud was nestled amongst the others with the sun layered on top, finishing off my card.
Here are the die sets used on my card, available in the store:

Aloha Summer

Hello Scrapping Cottage Friends

It is Pam on the Throwback Tuesday blog today!

We have a new release that are complete must haves for your basic die collection.  It is a Slimline group with 9 different designs.  They are 25% off right now so don't miss out on this great addition to your essential must have dies.

Our design team will be doing a few weeks of Throwback Tuesdays!  We will be highlighting some of our favorite dies that are still available in the online store from past collections.  I am using a die from our Beach & Tropical release.  The dies are called Hibiscus Flowers and Aloha & Ukulele.  I mixed these two dies with our  Scalloped Stitched Rectangle Slimline.

Just a quick description,  I used a white slimline card base.  Cut a piece of kraft card stock with the largest
Scalloped Stitched Rectangle Slimline twice.  Glue one to the front of the card and save the other.  Then I used a variety of colors and cut out the hibiscus using the Hibiscus Flowers die
Next I cut out 3 Aloha in white using the Aloha & Ukulele die.  I glued the Aloha words together.  I arranged the flowers and glued them down also tucking in the leaves.  The final step was to glue down the Aloha and add a few sequins
I had an extra flower and some leaves so I glued the kraft scalloped retangle to the inside and added the flower to the lower left of the card.  I stamped my sentiment and the card is complete

Circus Fun

Hi!

It's Anja here. Finally my Circus and Slimline dies arrived. And this is the first card I made with my new goodies.

For this card I used:

- Cottage Cutz dies (Balancing Elephant, Prancing Pony, Leaping Lion, Windows Slimline, Clouds Slimline, Nested Rectangles Slimline),

- Distress Inks,

- white card base (10x21 cm),

- patterned paper (9,5x21 cm),

- white card stock for die cuts,

- black pen,

- white pen,

- washi tape,

- paper trimmer,

- adhesive foam pads,

- paper glue.

First I cut and colored all three animals.

Next I cut all the parts for the background. I trimmed the patterned paper and die cut all the other three parts. I used the second largest die from the Nested Rectangles Slimline set. I colored the rectangle with red Distress Ink and then cut the Windows Slimline die out of it. I also cut two windows out of white card stock.

I also decided to add a curtain in the back. I used Clouds Slimline die to make the curtain. I used a small piece of the paper to make it look like drapes.

Then I arranged all the pieces on the card base and glued it together. I added the curtain between two window cuts. I used adhesive foam pads to adhere the animals. And my card was done.

That's all from me for today. Have a nice Sunday and see you again next week.

Anja Z.
