Standing Pop Up Scarecrow

Hi friends!

Kris here sharing a fun fold card featuring the new Fall Scarecrow and Harvest Cornstalk from the  New Fall Release!  All the individual dies from this release are still 30% OFF for a limited time and there are 15 beautiful Fall designs!

Mary Marsh is our Color Challenge hostess for CC972 at SplitcoastStampers this week and she chose
blueberry bushel
crushed curry
pumpkin pie

The dessert option is to add a shade of green or a scarecrow (I did both!)  And as always, we can use neutrals.
DESIGN STEPS:

1. Start with a Pumpkin Pie piece of cardstock cut at 4-1/4" x 10-1/2" and score along the longest side at 1/2”, 1 3/4”, 3 3/4”, and 5”.

2.  Next,  cut a piece of patterned paper with pumpkins on it (from the Grateful pack @La-La Land Crafts) cut at 4" x 5-1/4" and tape it to the largest section as shown.

3.  Next, fold the bottom part up at the 3-3/4" score line and adhere another piece of coordinating patterned paper cut at 4" x 1-3/4" as shown below.  Add a piece of Scor Tape to the top 1/2" tab.

4.  Remove tape backing and with it in the position shown above, fold just that taped section under and rub to adhere.  You can now stand it up and push the folded sections down so it creates a box like this...

5.  Cut another piece of Pumpkin Pie c.s. that is 3" x 5-1/2" and score along the longest side at 1/2" and 1-3/4".

6.  Cut a piece of white c.s. 2-3/4" x 3-3/4" -- Optional:  emboss with an embossing folder of choice for added texture. Adhere to the largest section of the piece you just cut in step #5.  Apply Scor Tape to the top 1/2" flap as shown below.

  7.  Remove tape backing and fold at the 2nd score line.  Line the top fold up with the top center of card front as shown below.  Press down and rub over where the tape is.

8.  Lift up that panel as shown below and apply tape to the 1/2" flap.

9.  Fold the bottom of card up so that the smaller patterned paper is up and you can see the plain orange section under it.  Holding it down in this position, remove tape backing and fold panel down and press it onto the lower section that has the 2nd patterned paper on it (front of box)

It should now be able to stand like this...

*Optional:  I decided I wanted more patterned paper on the top of those 2 solid c.s. pieces, so I cut one of the pumpkin patterns 4" x 1" and taped to that inner bottom section, and I cut the other pattern at 2-3/4" x 1" and adhered to the top section.

Now it's time to decorate! ☺

I die cut the Fall Scarecrow and Harvest Cornstalk from white cardstock and colored with Copic markers.

And last step is to add piece of white c.s. cut at 5-1/4" x 4" to the back to write your message.

It's official.... CUTEST SCARECROW die I've seen!  ☺♥

Happy Crafting friends!

Today, I am using the Christmas Reindeer Puppy.  This little pup is just adorable in his Santa Claus hat and his gift full of his favorite treat! (This card was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest created by Yvonne)

Design Steps:

1.  Start with the Christmas Reindeer Puppy die and cut the following colors of card stock: red, white, gray, black, pink and DP green snowflake.  Shade the pups pieces and then assemble with a fine tip glue
2.  Card base is white A2, red cardstock 4 1/8 x 5 3/8, white bazzil 4 x 5 1/4, Green snowflake DP cut with the largest Cross Stitched Circle die (cut the side of the circle as shown above), glitter silver strip with a bevel edge 3 1/2 x 1/4, gray cut with a dovetail 3 1/4 x 3/4, red cut with a dovetail 4 x 3/4, white cut with a bevel edges 3 5/8 x 1 and DP checked cut like an arrow 3 3/8 x 1 3/8
3.  Glue the red to the card base then add the white.  Glue the circle to the right side of the card as shown
4.  Add all the strips in this order: red, gray, white, plaid and then glitter silver.  Place dimension squares on the back of the pup and pop to the card as shown in the first top picture
5.  Using the Snowflake Set and the Merry Christmas Love dies cut out 3 snowflakes in white glitter card stock.  Stamp your sentiment and add to the card as shown below and it is complete

Christmas Carolers

Hello, my crafty friends, it's Marla here today with a new CottageCutz You Tube video.   I am sharing something a little different today.  I am reviewing several dies from the Christmas 2023 release.  I thought it might be helpful to see the sizing of some of the dies and how they would appear on both an A2 and 5x7 cards.  Some of the new dies are larger than others, such as the beautiful "Carolers" in the card above.  I also will be sharing a few card layout ideas and finally, I will assemble four different cards. I hope you will join me.

I will link all of the new products I used on my card below, for easy shopping.
Until next time.... Marla

Watercolored Fall Tree

Happy Fall Y'all 😊

Kris here sharing some Friday inspiration with you!   My card today features the Fall Tree from the new New Fall Release!  All the individual dies from this release are still 30% OFF for a limited time and there are 15 beautiful Fall designs!

I joined Mary & Pam in the Color Challenge CC971 at SplitcoastStampers this week which is...

Pretty Peacock
Crushed Curry
Cajun Craze
The dessert option is TEXTURE.

(All dies I used are linked at the end of this post)

DESIGN STEPS:

I started with an A2 top folding card and since I was out of the Curry c.s., I used Daffodil Delight and ink blended some wild honey Distress Oxide ink to get the deeper curry color.

For the background of my focal image I wanted to incorporate some texture so I used some thick watercolor paper and die cut the Leafy Background Slimline die and mounted it on a piece of 3-1/4" x 4-1/4" watercolor paper.

I then turned it over and cut off the excess.

I adhered this to the middle of my card front.

Next, I die cut the Fall Tree and leaves from the Autumn Ladder from watercolor cardstock.

(I also die cut the wheelbarrow thinking I'd put it at the bottom of my card with leaves in it, but it ended up being pretty large compared to my tree, so I eliminated it.)

I die cut a piece of Mossy Meadow c.s. with one of the Hills Slimline dies and another piece I die cut with one of the Grass Slimline dies. I cut both to 3-1/4" wide and mounted the hill on top of the grass blades and adhered to card front.

I watercolored the tree and leaves with Crackling Campfire, Carved Pumpkin, Wild Honey and Vintage Photo Distress Oxide inks and set aside to dry.

Next, I created a frame from the Pretty Peacock c.s. by layering the 2nd largest Wacky Stitched Rectangle Die inside the largest Scalloped Rectangle Die and die cutting it.

I added foam strips to back of frame and adhered to card front.

I adhered my tree and leaves onto card front.

For my sentiment, I used this pretty teal watercolor Deco Foil to foil my sentiment onto the Cajun Craze cardstock.  To do this, I printed my sentiment on the Cajun c.s. using a laser printer, then added my foil on top and ran it thru my Minc (like a laminator, but made for foiling).

Here are the results up close:
I love how it incorporated the peacock, yellow and green ☺

and done!
