Tis The Season To Be Jolly

It's Anja here with my last holiday card this season. This time I used sweet caroling penguins and made this joyful card. 

 For this card I used:

- Cottage Cutz dies (Caroling Penguin Flute, Caroling Penguin Drum, Caroling Penguin Trumpet),

- Distress Inks and Oxides,

- white card base (10x21 cm),

- white card stock for die cuts and background (9x20 cm),

- silver pigment ink,

- gold pigment ink,

- white pen,

- black pen,

- white embossing powder,

- embossing ink,

 - heat gun,

- brush,

- water spritzer,

- sentiment stamp,

- acrylic block,

- paper glue. 

First I cut and colored all three penguins.

Next I trimmed the paper for the background and embossed the sentiment on it using white embossing powder.

Then I colored all over the paper with Distress Oxides. I used a makeup brush to blend all three colors. When I was satisfied with the colors I sprinkled water drop over it and dried the paper with the heat gun.

When the background was ready I glued it on the card base and added the penguins on both sides of the sentiment. And my card was done.

Faves from 2020 (Part 1)

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us this Saturday after Christmas. Hope your Christmas celebration was a good one.

For the post today, I am doing something a bit different with a "Send Me Back Saturday" theme.  I thought it might be fun to look back at some of the DT cards from 2020, especially since the dies are on sale right now. I started in January 2020 and went through to June 2020.

January Card 1: This card was created by Jeanne and features the Husky w/Sled die from the Artic Animals release. A great idea for a Valentines card. 

February Card 2:  This Valentine card was created by Sukie using the Bunny Truck die from our Spring 2020 release. Great use of a Spring die for another Holiday. 

  

March Card 3: This card was created by Pam using the Busy Bee die from our Spring 2020 release. A wonderful way to welcome Spring. 

April Card 4:  This outdoor Easter scene card was created by Anja using the Springtime Pals die from our Spring 2020 release.   

May Card 5: This is a card that I (Mary Marsh) created using the Flower Power Tomte from our 2020 Garden release to create a birthday card.

June Card 6:  Another card that I created using the Garden Cat w/Wagon die from our 2020 Gardening release. It was a whimsical card for a child's birthday.

Nativity Pop Up Box Card

Merry Christmas!  I hope you are having a wonderful holiday.  It's Jeanne sharing a special card with you today.  One that reflects the true meaning of Christmas.

I love making 3D projects and box cards are among my favorites.  There are many tutorials on the internet for pop up box cards.  Here is a link to one from Splitcoaststampers.

My favorite part of making this type of card is filling it.  I will admit that this card took some time and is not for those looking for a quick project.  But it is well worth the effort and makes for a truly special gift /card.

All my pieces are colored using Distress Oxide inks.  I think I used every brown Ranger makes to get a wide variety of shades!

For my night sky I used Stormy Sky, Faded Jeans and Chipped Sapphire along with Wilted Violet.  I left an area white for around the star and flicked water on the panel to add a few minor "stars".

For my sentiment I added my favorite verse of the Nativity from the Gospel of Luke - Luke 2:10-11

Gift Box

 Hi Everyone!

It is Pam sharing on the blog today!

I am giving a few gift cards to friends this year.  So I have created a little box that I can put the gift card in and add a few homemade lemon drop cookies.  This little box is also perfect for any other small gift you may have in mind such as jewelry or candies.  I decorated the box to make it extra special using the Baking Spirits Bright die.

Design Steps:

1.  Using Baking Spirits Bright cut kraft and white card stock.  Glue the white on top of the baking and bright.  I used a little brown ink on the rolling pin

2.  Also cut out all of the little snowmen using white, green, blue, tan, orange and red card stock

3.  Assemble the snowmen using a fine tip glue

4.  You can either buy or create your little box

5. Glue you snowmen to the front and sides of the box

6.  Glue you baking spirits bright to the back of the box. Add your snowflakes and ribbon

I can Bearly wait 'til Christmas!

Hello!  This is Sukie and today I have a sweet card to share.  I used the most adorable Polar Friends die set as the focal point of my card.  It's available in the store along with so many other amazing die sets.

I used card stock to cut out the critters and Birch Trees.  I ended up only cutting out one of the penguins from the Polar Friends die set.

I created an ink blended background, splattered it water and then added a bit of paint for a snowy effect.  The birch trees were trimmed down for a better fit on my card.  I also hand cut a snowy slope.

The fun sentiment was stamped on the slope while the trees were tucked in behind.  The polar bear fit perfectly between the set of trees.

Next came the penguin which was adhered on top of the polar bear for a playful look.

This whimsical card completes my collection of Christmas cards for this year and as the sentiment says, "I can Bearly wait 'til Christmas!"

Joy Snowman

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Monday edition of the Blog. Hope you are on track with all your Christmas preps. It's only 4 days until the big day.

Today, I have for your viewing pleasure a card featuring the Joy Snowman die. It's part of the Christmas Part 1 release. 

I created this card using the colors from the Splitcoaststampers color challenge #820. I thought these colors would be perfect for a card featuring a snowman. 

I had this layout saved on one of my Pinterest boards and I knew the 3 panels work well to display this image.

Then I chose my background paper. It's from a "snowflake splendor" collection. Perfect to cover the balmy blue and highland heather colors.

The "joy snowman" is cut in the challenge colors. The image panels are embossed with a falling snow embossing folder. 

To finish off my card I added some ribbon in the balmy blue shade and a few snowflakes cut from the designer paper. For the snowflakes I used this older Snowflakes Set die.
