Christmas Cookie

It's Anja here. I have another Christmas card for you today. This time is all about baking. 

 For this card I used:

- Cottage Cutz dies (Gingerbread Baker, Sweet as a Christmas Cookie),

- Distress Inks and Oxides,

- white card base (10x21 cm),

- white card stock for die cuts,

- black pen,

- white pen,

- water spritzer,

- heat gun,

- adhesive foam pads,

- paper glue. 

First I cut and colored gingerbread cookie.

Next I did the same with the sentiment.

Then I used Distress Oxides and did the background. I colored directly on the card base.

After coloring I spritzed over the paper and dried it with the heat gun.

And after that I glued all the pieces to the card base. I adhered the gingerbread cookie with the adhesive foam pads. And my card was done.

Snowman in the Meadow

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Saturday edition of the Blog.

Our Christmas dies are still available in the online store. And, there is still time to get some to create this year's Christmas cards.  We have Christmas Part 1 (22 new designs), Christmas Part 2 (21 new designs) and Christmas Part 3 (11 new designs). 

Today, for your viewing pleasure I have a card featuring the new Snowman & Owl Pal die. It's one of those whimsical dies from the Christmas Part 3 collection that makes for a really cute Christmas card. I created it for a friend who lives out in Washington. They don't get much snow so I thought a snowman card would be a cute one for her. Let's get started on some details of how I created my card.

Design Steps:

My card this week started with the color challenge #821 on Splitcoaststampers. The colors were limiting but the optional item was to make a snowman. We have so many really cute snowman dies this year so I knew I was in for the challenge. Our colors were bermuda bay, silver and pumpkin pie. Neutrals are allowed in this challenge and I used black, white and a few shades of brown .

I managed to find some scraps of bermuda bay designer paper to use for the snowman's jacket and the owls hat. That made things a little easier. Then I used bermuda bay cardstock for his scarf, buttons, hat band and pockets.  

For the background, I embossed with a snowflake swirl embossing folder.  I like the visual interest it gave to my card. 

I cut a snow slope and used chunky glitter on the top of the slope. Stamped my sentiment in bermuda bay ink.  

I am ready to start card assembly. I attached the embossed panel with double sided tape and the snow slope with dimensional adhesive.

 

Next, I added the snowman image using dimensional adhesive. I cut some silver snowflakes from an older CottageCutz die(Cocoa & Sweet Treats) for added interest on the embossed panel.

A Warm and Toasty Holiday

Happy Friday!  It's Jeanne today with a card that made my mouth water while creating it!  S'mores bring back many of good memories for me - from Girl Scout camp when I was young to sitting in front of our fireplace and making them when our girls were little.

This card was fun and easy to create.  Starting with a sketch is always a time saver and I found one on Splitcoaststampers.

I cut three pieces of cardstock and paper.  First I cut an A2 size panel cut from Crumb Cake,  I then used two different patterns and cut a rectangle using the second largest of the Nested Stitched Scalloped Rectangle dies and a square using the middle of the Nested Stitched Scalloped Square dies.  I found this paper in my stash and although it's not Christmas, it fits the theme perfectly.

I used Distress Oxide ink in Vintage Photo to antique all the edges and then I heat embossed the sentiment with dark brown embossing powder.

For my marshmallow snowman and s'more cookie I cut all the pieces from white cardstock.  I used markers to color the nose, hat, scarf and chocolate.  I also antiqued all the edges of these pieces.  After all, s'mores should be toasted!

Finally I popped up my snowman using foam dots.

Santa and Reindeer

Hello Scrapping Cottage Friends

It is Pam on the blog today.

I am continuing to make a few more Christmas cards for friends and family.  Believe it or not I am almost finished.  My family all live back east so I need to get them in the mail very soon.   I am using a few new dies today to create this fun flip/swing card. There is also a cute surprise on the inside!

Design Steps:

1.  Use the Santa Reading to His Reindeer die and cut out all the pieces.  I used mainly Kraft and white card stock then colored the different pieces as needed

2.  Shade the pieces and then assemble with a fine tip glue

3.  Create the base of the flip card.  There are a number of great videos on YouTube to create the base.  Just type in flip card or swing card.  I used designer paper to create the layer of snowflakes and glitter paper for the snow on the bottom.  Glue the DP to the flaps and the snow to the bottom

4.  On the right side I popped up two deer as shown

5.  On the left side I popped up the largest deer and I cut a circle for the center using the snowflake DP and the Cross Stitched Circle die.  I also cut white glitter card stock using the Santa's Express Tag and glued it to the cross stitched circle

6.  When you flip open the card you will see Santa.  I colored him with copic makeres and nudged him a little off center so the card would flip.  For the Ho Ho Ho I used part of the Hot Cocoa Tag and just cut away the HO cutting it three times. Add a few snowflakes cut from the Winter Window die.  Stamp the Merry Christmas and your card is complete

Dear Santa, Define good . . .

Hello!  This is Sukie and today I'm sharing a fun card for my design team post.  I used the Gnome w/Chimney to create this festive Christmas card.  This sweet die is from the Christmas Part 2 die release. There are so many adorable dies available in the store for those Christmas creations!

The word art card stock was the inspiration for my card.  I coordinated the die cuts to the paper colors.  I used card stock for my die cuts and also stamped a fun sentiment on a piece of red card stock.

The patterned card panel was layered on some red card stock for a pop of color.  I used the Oval die set to cut out the opening on my layered panels.  The die cut through the 2 layers, perfectly!

The first step in my design process was to affix the sentiment inside of the oval.  Next I adhered the snow mound directly on top of the sentiment tag.

The card panel was layered on a standard A2 sized card base.  I ink blended the background with some Black Soot Oxide Ink for a shaded appearance.

The adorable gnome with his chimney was tucked into the snow mound and centered perfectly inside the oval frame.

The sack of goodies was nestled into the snow next to the chimney finishing off the adorable scene on this card.

All Occasion Woodland Birdhouse Card

It's Jeanne starting the week off with an all occasion card using the Woodland Birdhouse from Christmas Part 3 release.

When I first saw this die I was struck by how pretty and versatile it is.  Although perfect for a Christmas card, it works great for a "thinking of you" or birthday card.  I left the front without a sentiment so I could choose how to use it, however since creating it I've decided to send it to a friend who has a birthday a few days into January.

To create the background I used Distress Resist Spray which gave me some nice white snow-like sprinkles when I applied Distress Oxide ink in Shabby Shutters and Tumbled Glass with a blending brush.  I then used Distress Oxide Spray in Tumbled Glass for the blue sprinkles.

All of the image pieces were cut in white and colored with a combination of Distress Oxide inks, regular dye inks and Copic markers (the berries).    I used five different browns to get a variety of color and depth between the house, branch and pine cones.

I finished off the card by coating all the snow in Wink of Stella (it sparkles nicely in person but is hard to see in the photo), some gold thread and sequins.
