Birthday Time!

Hi, it's Lois here again.  I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year.  Now it's time to get back to work . . . or fun, as the case may be!   I have another fun birthday card for you today using a few CottageCutz Mini, Petite, and Expression dies.

Supplies needed for this card are:

Card base - white cardstock, balloon patterned paper

Scraps of colored cardstock - pink, green, purple, red, yellow, orange, black, white

Dies - CottageCutz Balloon, Round (mini), CottageCutz Present, CottageCutz Happy, CottageCutz Birthday 

Ink - Distress Worn Lipstick
Other - red pen, ribbon, foam pop dots, adhesive sheet, scallop border punch, ruler, pencil

I started with a white card base 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", folded in half.  Using a pencil and ruler, I marked in 1/2" on all four sides.

Using a red pen, I drew a border around the edge. Then I cut a strip of patterned paper 1 1/2" x 5 1/4" and punched the scallop border down the long left-hand side, adhered it to the left-hand side of the card and ran a ribbon round the center, gluing to the inside of the card.

Next I cut all my dies. I wasn't sure how many balloons I was going to need, so I arbitrarily cut six of them. 

As it turned out, I used only five of the balloons on the front of the card, so I put the sixth one on the inside.

I had cut two present die-cuts -- one in pink cardstock and one in patterned paper.  I cut the ribbon portion of the pink one out and backed the hearts with a small strip of red.   After sponging around the outside of the patterned paper, I glued the ribbon to the package.

All that was left was to construct my card.  To make it a bit easier, I had put an adhesive sheet behind some of the cardstock for the smaller die-cuts, such as the sentiment dies, string and shadow on the balloon die.  The sentiment is glued flat, while the balloons and present are popped up on foam dots.

Let's Go Camping!

Hi, Lois here today with a fun fold card.  I have to admit that I'm not much of a camper.   I do remember one summer when I was a kid, we went to the Pocono Mountains for a week; but "camped" in a cabin -- not a tent.  With that said, I have a gatefold card for you today -- using several of the dies from the "Camping" release from CottageCutz.

Supplies for this card are:

Gold cardstock - 5 1/2" x 11" scored at 2 3/4" and 8 1/4"

White cardstock - 2 pieces 5 1/4" x 2 1/2", 1 piece 5 1/4" square

Various scrap pieces of colored cardstock - green, red, pale blue, green, silver, yellow, tan, orange

Distress ink - green, orange, brown

Patterned paper - grass, sky, sand, macadam

CottageCutz dies - Jeep, Camping Trailer, Camping Gear, Campfire Clothesline, Campfire Squirrel, Camping Phrases, Snowcapped Mountains, Campsite

Double-sided tape and tape runner

I started by cutting out the pieces for the Jeep and Trailer and constructing each one.  I used double sided tape for the smaller pieces to make it easier to adhere them to the base pieces.

 Then I made the scene by cutting the patterned paper and adhering it to the two white panels, which I then glued to the front panel.  I created my scene by adding the jeep and trailer as well as some trees, the mountains, and the sun.

The fun part of a gatefold card is when you open the panels to the inside.

Using several of the accessory dies in the Camping release, I created a fun campsite.

To share my happiness with you, here is my last card for 2016.

Instructions  The finished card measures 4" x 7" .  I have used the double stitched rectangle dies and the Wide Rectangle Frame dies to create windows that will allow me to add flowers and my sentiments. The flowers are moulded and shaped after I have coloured with Archival inks. I have added frosted sugar powder to the flower petals. Cottage Cutz Dies Used

Champagne Glass Cheers

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Wednesday edition of the Blog.

Well another Christmas has come and gone and now we are looking forward to the New Year Celebration.  For my last card post of 2016, I will be sharing a celebration card.

You could use this as a New Year's card, a wedding card or a congratulations card. I am choosing a congratulations card  and sending this to my niece who just got engaged over Christmas.

So let's get started with some details on how I created this one.

Black Card Base: 3 1/2" x 5" (note card size)
Gold Foil Vellum Paper: 3 1/4" x 4 7/8"
White cardstock under layer: 3 1/4" x 4 7/8"
Pierce Wide Circle Frame: 2nd largest

I started my card by die cutting the elegant champagne glasses with bows and the stitched wide circle frame. My photo shows the bows in black but once I started the card assembly I didn't like the black. So I changed to gold bows. I thought they looked better against the black circle frame.

I started the card assembly. Since my background paper was vellum I used glue dots on the gold hearts and attached it to white cardstock. Then layered that on my black card base. I had intended to use a tag with a cheers sentiment. But I didn't like that look. So I decided to stamp directly on the vellum. I used a pigment ink and then embossed it with a black embossing powder.

Mistletoe

Hi, Janja here!

For the last card in this year I selected mistletoe. Supposedly mistletoe brings good luck in the coming year. While, other plants in winter rests, the mistletoe is full of life. Her greenery keeps the hope for the arrival of spring.

For the card we need:
- CottageCutz dies: holiday greenery, circle set, stitched circle set
- white cardstock
- patterned paper
- kraft cardstock
- cartstock in golden and green color
- string

Cut white cardstock to size 15.9 x 5.3" (40,5 x 13,5 cm). The folds are made on 5,3" and 10.6" (13,5 cm and 27 cm). Cut both tabs along the diagonal.

Cut selected paper:
- 3x for background: 5.2 x 5.2" (13,1 x 13,1 cm), one cut in half diagonally
- 1x for tag: 4.7 x 4.7" (12 x 12 cm)
- kraft cardstock: 5 x 5" (12,6 x 12,6 cm)

Cut out two circles with the largest die from circle set and other two with stitched circle set (the 8th die from the center) . Two white circles, one from kraft and one from golden cardstock. I replaced the green one on photo with golden one.  

Prepare a few mistletoe and twigs cutouts. Apply pearl dots on them.  

Paste patterned paper on kraft base. In the middle of the upper part, attach the eyelet and insert a string.  

Cover the card base with selected patterned paper. Paste both triangular parts on the card base with double-side adhesive tape.  

Stamp "Happy New Year" with golden ink on circle, and arrange mistletoe together with twigs and golden bow.  

Fix circle on the card base.
