Merry Christmas - Wisdom Tree

Merry Christmas everyone!

It's Donna here, I hope you all are relaxed and enjoying your family and friends this holiday season!  I want to wish everyone that celebrates the Christ of Jesus, Merry Christmas.  I love being with family and I am enjoying being with my family and my grandchildren this holiday season.

I have a CAS card for you today!  I am using the Wisdom Tree die today because it says it all about the season.

Here is how I put my card together.
1.  My card base is 4 x 5 1/2,
2.  I cut all my pieces out that I want to use on my card,

3.  I glued the wisdom tree to the white card base that I cut out using the Double Stitched Rectangle die.  I used the largest frame.
4.  I finished my card by adding some bling to my card to give it some more definition.

Everyone seems to have an after Christmas sale, please check the CottageCutz store tomorrow, there is going to be an after Christmas sale!  You don't want to miss out if you have been looking at a certain die.

Yum, More Christmas Cookies

Hi, Lois here with my last Christmas card of the year.  A couple of weeks ago I made a card using the CottageCutz ornament dies and Peachy Keen face stamps, dishing up a plate of gingerbread cookies.   After I made the card, I thought, "Wouldn't it be fun to have someone take a bite out of one of those cookies?"  Thus, the idea for today's card was born.

Supplies for this card:

Cream cardstock base (pre-cut) 10" x 6 1/2", folded in half
Green cardstock - 4 3/4" x 6 1/4"
Patterned paper - 4 5/8" x 6 1/8"
Kraft cardstock
Red cardstock (scraps)
Green cardstock (scraps)
Kraft-colored cardboard
White detail embossing powder
Versamark ink
Doily
White gel pen
Red craft paint and brush
Scallop Circle punch

Cut three of the smallest star ornaments and three of the smallest circle ornaments from Kraft cardstock; then cut six of each from the cardboard.

Using the punch, cut out the "bite marks" from one Kraft circle and two cardboard circles -- ensuring that the punches are the same size.  Then "build" the cookies by gluing two cardboard pieces and one Kraft piece together.   After stamping and embossing the faces on each of the cookies, add some extra icing with a white gel pen.  Paint a touch of red on the candy canes.

Cut the holly leaves and sentiment.

Construct the card, leaving an open space on the doily to show that the cookie had originally been there.

Santa and His Airplane

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Wednesday edition of the Blog.

Well we are down to the wire with Christmas now. It's just 4 days until the big day. Children are anxiously awaiting the arrival of Santa Claus. Speaking of Santa, today it's all about Santa with a twist. He is flying an airplane. Maybe his reindeer are on strike this year (lol)!!

My flying Kris Kringle is an older die from CottageCutz. The die is a 4 x 6 and all the plane pieces are arranged separately on the metal plate. This allows you the option of cutting in whatever color you want. I love all the detail on this die.

Here are some details on how I created this card. Not really much explanation needed though. Basically all I did was cut the image pieces in the colors I wanted. You could also cut them in white cardstock and then color with your choice of medium.

Red Card Base: 4 x 1/4" x 5 1/2"
Blue Layering panel: 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"
Embossed Image Panel: 4" x 5 1/2"

My image panel is patterned paper that is already embossed and all you have to do is add your color. The embossed area will resist the ink. I thought this background looked like snow falling. I sponged a light blue ink on the background.

Here is another way to create a snowy background with sponging and a brayer. Then the use of a stencil creates the falling snow.

To add a little background interest to my scene I cut pine trees using the deer & forest border die. I cut a slope in white cardstock and added some chunky glitter. For my sentiment I used the Merry Christmas Santa die and cut in red cardstock.

Well, that's it for me for this wee. I want to take an opportunity to wish all of you a very, Merry Christmas. Thanks for all the support and comments you have all left this past year. See you next week.

Shaker card with mailbox

Hi, Janja here!

Christmas time is almost here. In Slovenia we don't have any snow yet, and the weather forecast is not promising us a white Christmas. Never mind, today I will take care of snow :).

For the card we need:
- CottageCutz dies: woodland mailbox, forest trees, stitched wide rectangle frame set (the largest die from set)
- kraft card base: 4.1 x 5.3" (10,5 x 13,5 cm), folded
- white and colored cardstock
- glitter
- white embossing powder
- Distress ink: Worn Lipstick, Festive Berries, Vintage Photo, Mowed Lawn, Peeled Paint, Black Soot

Prepare a card base from kraft cardstock. Cut out a frame from white cardstock with a frame die and a sheet of transparent foil in the frame size.

Coat the frame with glue and sprinkle it with glitter.

On kraft base stamp "Warm Wishes" and treat it with hot embossing technique. Use white powder.
Glue transparent foil to the back of the frame, and fasten across it self-adhesive foam tape. Finally, add snowflakes and attach the base card to the frame.

From colored cardstock cut out all the elements for the mailbox and spruces. Shadow them with Distress inks.

To finish the card, fix mailbox with gifts and spruces as shown using foam adhesive pads.

Another view to the snow-covered card, after we shake it.

I wish you a Merry Christmas.

Thank you for coming over and see you next Tuesday.

Hello

Hello everyone!

It's Donna here I decided to change it up a little and show you this cute critter that was released in October.  The release was called "In the Forest" in case you missed it. There are so many adorable critters, there are fox, rabbits, dogs, you name it, go and check them out if you missed them

Here is my card, I am featuring the raccoon from the Forest Peekers, Fox & Raccoon set.  This set comes with the fox and the raccoon.  There are also a couple of positions you can create the critters peaking out...there are so many possibilities.

Here is how I put my card together:

1.  I die cut all my pieces,
2.  The raccoon I die cut him out with white cardstock and then colored him with copics,
3.  I die cut the stump from the Tree Stump & Log for Peekers
4.  I glued the pieces together and assembled my card.
5.  I finished my card off by adding the "Hello" from the Hello Spring set.
