More Classic 50's - Card & Scrapbook Layout

Hello CottageCutz friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's still Black Friday release week here on the Blog.

We have a new Classic 50's release that makes its debut here on the Blog and also in the online store. You can pick up the bundle for a huge 65% off. That's under $97 or 30% off individual dies. The release is filled with some amazing retro images from the 50's era.

We have been featuring group posts for the past week to give you lots of inspiration on different ways to use the dies. If you missed any of the posts, just check back on the Blog for lots of eye candy. Today, we have 2 samples for  you from Design Team member, Jen Hartsgrove

Card 1:  Turning 50 and images from the 50's are so perfect for the card Jen created to celebrate this milestone birthday. She used the Fifties Soda Bar and the Fifties Phrases #1 dies to create a fabulous scene from the era where soda fountains were the rage.

Her background designer paper is a great choice for "wallpaper". So much detail with this new die- check out the juke box on the counter! Don't you just love it!!!
This is the card inside view.
Project 2:  Jen has been showing us quite a few layouts over the past couple of months. Check out our YouTube channel if you are a scrapbooker. All of our dies are so easy to add to any scrapbook layout.

On this 8 x 8 layout Jen used the Fifties Diner and the Fifties Phrases #2 die. So perfect for the car hop they host each summer at her restaurant in Maine. How fun would that be for a 50's throwback! Her daughters and nieces are the car hop waitresses.

The Diner die has lots of detail as well. Here is a close up photo.

That's it for today's samples. We hope you have been enjoying the samples we have been creating using these new dies. The team has had so much fun using them in our card designs, 3D projects and scrapbook layouts.

Pop-Up Record Player

Hello CottageCutz friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's still Black Friday release week here on the Blog.

We have a new Classic 50's release that makes its debut here on the Blog and also in the online store. You can pick up the bundle for a huge 65% off. That's under $97 or 30% off individual dies. The release is filled with some amazing retro images from the 50's era.

We have been featuring group posts for the past week to give you lots of inspiration on different ways to use the dies. If you missed any of the posts, just check back on the Blog for lots of eye candy. I have another project idea for you today using the Fifties Phrases #1Fifties Phrases #2, Guitar Music Notes & Records dies to create a pop-up record player.

Vinyl records & record players have been trending for the past few years. So, I thought I would try to create a paper one as a birthday card. It's going to my brother in January, and I am pretty sure he will think it's something fun & unique.

Design Steps:

I started by creating the "record player base" It's really easy to make with one sheet of cardstock.  I used a piece of red cardstock measuring 4" x 12". Then I scored the paper at 4″, 7 1/2″, 8″ and 11 1/2″.
You only need one piece of Scor-tape added to 11 1/2" score line or other strong tape to secure the pop-up base together.
This the base taped together.
Then I started my decorating. For the card front, I used some musical score designer paper layered onto black card stock and then onto the card front.  The phrases are part of the Fifties Phrases #1 die.
Next, onto the card inside. For the turntable, I used the largest Stitched Rounded Square die and cut in white cardstock.  I cut the largest record from the Guitar Music Notes & Records die.
I had to get a bit creative for the needle arm. When I looked online some of the needles looked like hockey sticks. We have a die from last winter the Winter Hockey Bunny that had a perfect sized hockey stick. I cut it in silver cardstock. I made a needle base in black. It's cut from the smallest Square Set die. The on - off buttons are cut from the Circle Set die in black and silver.
I made a pocket on the inside of the lid to hold another record. You could also add a gift card here. I don't exchange gifts with my brother, so I used a record. I took the largest Square Set die- cut in white cardstock and then used the 5th largest Circle Set die to cut the pocket opening.
To finish off the card, I added some music notes. That's it for me for this post. I hope you have been enjoying the samples we have been creating using these new dies. The team has had so much fun using them in our card designs and 3D projects.

Group Post Black Friday Release Dies (Day 3)

Hello CottageCutz friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Black Friday release week here on the Blog.

We have a new Classic 50's release that makes its debut here on the Blog and also in the online store. You can pick up the bundle for a huge 65% off. That's under $97 or 30% off individual dies. The release is filled with some amazing retro images from the 50's era.

We will have group posts for the next several days to give you lots of inspiration on different ways to use the dies. If you missed our first 2 posts, you could see them here, and here.

Card 1: Our first card for today is from Kristine Breach.  She created a fun easel card and used some great colors on the card. It would fit a variety of occasions. Maybe a 50th birthday, or someone who is an avid motorcycler, or even someone who loves the 50's era. This would really make a cute card for a 50th wedding anniversary. We all know playful couples who like to have fun.

Kris used the MotorcycleCinema Drive-in Sign for the card front. This is the front view of the easel card. She used the Fifties Phrases #2 die on a popped-up panel to act as the stopper for the easel when it's opened.
And of course, the card folds flat for mailing and fits in a standard envelope.
Card 2:  Our next sample for today is from Pam MacKay. She created an A2 size card and cut the front panel in half and attached her image.

It's a quick "half-front" card fold for when you want to do something special but don't have time for a lot of scoring or special tools. All you do is cut half of the front cover off.

It's a fun style card. This one is for a birthday, but you could use it for Father's Day as well.

She used the Classic Car (Front) and cut in black cardstock to make it pop. The phrase is part of the Fifties Phrases #2 die. Also cut in black cardstock for a standout. The car designer paper complements the theme of the card.
Card 3:
Our last sample for today is from Linh Van. She created a full-front or infinity shaker card. If you like shaker cards and don't like to use foam or struggle with lining it up this style shaker is for you. And shaker cards present such a wow factor. Adults and kids love this style card. You just place acetate across the front of the card.

Linh used the Fifties Jukebox die and the Fifties Phrases #1 with lots of purple glitter paper for a bright and festive birthday look. The phrase "Bday" is from the 2018 Retro Alphabet die that is currently on sale for 75% off.

You can check out her YouTube channel for a video on how she created this card. Click here.
Well, that's our samples for today. Stop by again tomorrow for more inspiration from the team. And don't forget that we are having a huge Black Friday sale going on with savings of up to 85% off.

Group Post Black Friday Release (Day 2)

Hello CottageCutz friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Black Friday release week here on the Blog.

We have a new Classic 50's release that makes its debut here on the Blog and also in the online store.  You can pick up the bundle for a huge 65% off. That's under $97 or 30% off individual dies. The release is filled with some amazing retro images from the 50's era.

We will have group posts this week to give you lots of inspiration on different ways to use the dies. The Design team has some great ideas for ways to use these new dies.

Card 1: Our first card for today is from Kristine Breach. I Love all the bright and bold colors she used to create an awesome center step fun-fold card. This card would be perfect for any age birthday. Or how about the young ones who are having sock hops for their birthday parties. You could make this card to go with the party theme.

She is featuring the new Jukebox die for the main image. Her side panels are embellished with faux "vinyl" records from the Guitar, Music Notes & Records die. The Happy Phrase on the bottom panel is from the Fifties Phrases #1 die.  The letters and decorative background panels are included with this die.

This view shows the card inside. She ink blended the birthday phrase. It complements the card front.
And of course, the card folds flat for mailing and fits in a standard envelope.
Card 2: Our next sample for today is from Pam MacKay. She is featuring a slimline design that has such great nostalgic appeal. The background checkerboard paper and her card colors really complete the retro look.  This one would be perfect for the classic car collector, someone who is turning 50 or who grew up in the fifties. I have family & friends in all these categories.

She used the Classic Car (Side) for her main image. The phrase is from the Fifties Phrases #2 die. It's a perfect complement to the classic car. The other phrases are from an older 2018 collection - Route 66 Road Signs. They work perfectly with her card and are currently 75% off for our Black Friday sale.
Card 3: The last sample for today is one that I, Mary Marsh, created. Turning 50 and images from the 50's are so perfect for my friend who is celebrating a 50th birthday soon.

I used the Poodle Skirt die and cut from cardstock in a classic 50's look. I wanted to keep my card colors in pink and black - it's a feminine card after all (lol)!!!

The Rock n Roll phrase is from the Fifties Phrases #2 die. I love the shadow. The Birthday phrase is from the Fifties Phrases #1 die. My other embellishments -music notes and records- are from the Guitar, Music Notes & Records die.  The arrow is from the 2018 Route 66 Road Signs die. It's 75% off right now.

Well, that's it for our samples for today. Join us again on Friday for more team samples from this Classic 50's release.
