Spooky Halloween Orb

Happy Wednesday CottageCutz fans! It's Janet from SugarShine Designs. Today I'm presenting my final CottageCutz Halloween project of the season. In today’s video, I will show you how I used a die set that is part of the Christmas release along with two of the new Halloween dies to create a spooky glowing orb card. I know it’s getting close to Halloween but it’s still not too late to get new dies in time to make some great cards before Halloween arrives.

Before I describe more about today’s project, I want to share exciting news with all of you. The Scrapping Cottage is sponsoring a VIDEO BLOG HOP on October 27th and 28th. It will feature several of the new holiday dies. Many prizes will be given away from the video artists and Scrapping Cottage is providing the Grand Prize! More information will be coming in a future post so keep an eye out for it.

So back to today’s card! My inspiration is the orb that the Wicked Witch used in the classic Wizard of Oz movie with Judy Garland. I wanted to create an orb that looked like something was inside it and I wanted it to appear to glow from within. Unfortunately, I didn't have any flying monkeys or poppy fields available for my orb but that didn't deter me!

I used the base and bow of the new Snowglobe with Fawn die but used the Stitched Circle Set to build a thick frame out of several cardstock layers and an acetate layer under which the Ghost House resides. Then I used the Halloween Phrase & More die for the sentiment. I also used the witch’s hat and the Jack O’ Lantern from the phrase set as additional props for the card. Click on the video thumbnail and learn more about how this card was put together.

Well, thanks for stopping in to have a look at today’s project. I consider it a privilege to be part of the Scrapping Cottage family which includes the most important people – you! Have a great week!

Winter Snowmen

Hello everyone,

It's Donna here with another one of the newest Christmas CottageCutz dies that was released in August. If you missed it, you can find the collection here Christmas 1, and Christmas 2 . I am using the adorable Winter Snowman die.  There is only one die, but I wanted a boy and girl so I used pink on one of the snowmen and added some eyelashes to make her a "snowwomen".

How I created my card:

1. A2 size card 4 1/4 x 5 1/2,

2. I cut all my pieces out,

3.  I adhered all the pieces together,

4.  I embossed the card base,

5.  Added my design paper,

6.  Die cut the cross stitiched circle die,

7.  Added the snowman and snowwomen on the circle,

8.  Added my sentiment.

Thanks again for stopping by, please stop over at the Scrappin Cottage blog to see all the beautiful designs from the other design team members. Don't forget about our newest challenge that is running right now. The theme is holiday and here is a link for more information.

Boo!

Hello all,

It's Donna to share the cutest Halloween card.  I don't normally send out Halloween cards, but I just had to make this one.  The "Witchy Ghost" die is so adorable.  and I thought the "Spiderweb" went well with this set.  Both of these dies are from the 2nd Christmas and Autumn dies release. If you haven't been over to the online store, you should definitely go and take a look at all the new goodies.

Inside of the card.

Here is how I put my card together:

1.  The size of the card is 4 x 4,

2.  The first layer is die cut from the CottageCutz square set (the largest one) which measures 3 1/2 x 3 1/2,

3.  The second layer is 3 1/4 x 3 1/4,

4.  To make the background of my card, I cut out a 2" circle and offset it on the layer, I distressed some inks to make the background of the card.  I added some distress inks to the moon to give it an eerie look,

5.  I die cut all my pieces and inked some of the edges,

6.  I added the sentiment, cutting it out with the smallest die from the cross-stitched rectangle set,

7.  I added foam tape to the ghost and die cut another spider out and added foam tape behind it.  I wanted it to look like the spider had a shadow going down the moon,

8.  The inside die is from the "Haunted Tree" which is also from the new release,

9.  I finished the inside by adding the sentiment.

Happy Fall

Hello everyone!

It's Donna here thanks so much for stopping by today!  I am here with CottagCutz showcasing the 2nd part of the Christmas and Autumn dies release. If you haven't been over to the online store, you should definitely go and take a look at all the new goodies.  The best part is the Harvest Scarecrow is 25% off plus many more of the new release for a limited time. Don't procrastinate, rush right over to the store and get some of these wonderful dies. I love them all, I have so many ideas in my head I cannot get them all done fast enough!

I am featuring several of the new Autumn release dies, so lets get started on how I created my Split Step Card, it can also be called Side Step Card.

1.  I cut all the pieces out and inked the edges.  My table was so messy, I did not get a chance to take a picture,

2.  I cut the base of my card 8 1/2 x 5 1/2,

2.  I then cut and scored my paper, where the red line is you put your paper in your paper cutter at 1" and cut down to 6 3/8.  The other lines you score at 1", 2", 3 1/8", 4 1/4 and 6 3/8.  This image is not mine, I found the image on google.

3.  After cutting and scoring the base of the card, I added my layers.  On the left side the layers measurements are 2 3/8 x 3 1/8, the plaid layer 2 1/4 x 3.  On the right side top layer measurements are 2 x 2 1/4, plaid layer 1 7/8 x 2, the second step is 2 x 1, plaid layer 1 7/8 x 7/8. The layer under the grass is 5 x 1,

4.  I added a couple of layers on the inside of the card to write or stamp a sentiment.  The measurements are 4 x 2 7/8, the white piece 3 7/8 x 2 1/2,

5.  I finished the card off by stamping my image on the second to the smallest die from the double stitched square dies.

Whew, I think I got everything!  I had so much fun making this card, I hope I have inspired you to make one for yourself.

Here are some more pictures of the card:
