Love Ya Mom! Botanical Mother's Day

Hello everyone! It's Janet here with a delicate botanical mother's day card. I like the mix of hard black and white with all the soft pastels that frame the Mom tag sentiment. Perhaps I should have chosen a slightly more muted yellow ribbon but in person it isn't as bright as the photo shows here.

Speaking of MotherÅ› Day, 22 new dies have just been released to celebrate the occasion. The dies are currently on sale so go check them out and take advantage of the discount. The link can be found HERE.

My flowers and greenery are all from the new Botanical Garden 1 die that is part of the Llamas and Botanicals release. Rather than color the flowers with markers, I used white panels that I first covered in blended distressed oxide inks, splattered with water to create additional texture, and then sprayed with gold glimmer spray. These panels of color created a really special array of flowers for the card. I raised the card front with the wide black frame up on foam tape to create a window which was a perfect base to arrange all the individual flower die cuts. I used the versatile Mail Tag die to use as the sentiment to tell Mom just how much she's loved.

The video shows how I created the panels, how the individual flowers go together and how I created the card front with the framed and raised front panel. You can watch the video by clicking HERE or clicking on the thumbnail below.

Thanks for spending some time with us here today. See you again soon!

Hugs,
Janet

Llamas & Botanical Samples (Part 3)

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit today. We have a release of Llamas & Botanical dies available in the online store.

The dies have a couple of super cute Llama images as well as cactus and other succulents. And, let's not dismiss our sweet hummingbird and a great garden bird image.

There are so many different ways to use these dies, and the Design Team has been featuring these dies in their posts over the past 2 weeks. If you haven't' seen them look back over the blog for some great eye candy.

Today we are showing you 3 additional cards using different dies from this release. You can also see a couple of other group samples here and here.

Card 1: This first sample is done by Anja Zurga. She used the Iron Stand w/Plants die to create a beautiful card of encouragement. She did some background stenciling to give some added emphasis to the plant stand.
Her sentiment fits so many occasions. Whether you are sending this card off to a friend or to your significant other, the message complements the flower images so well.

Card 2: Our next sample is done by Jeanne Knobbe. She used the Garden Hummingbird to create a beautiful floral card. She paired the images with some great designer papers. Nothing says garden to me like gingham paper. It harmonizes with these images really well.

Card 3: This last sample is done by me - Mary Marsh. I used the Botanical Garden 1 and Botanical Garden 2 dies to create a sympathy card. The background is a watercolored card base that I stamped with flowers. I used the stamping off technique to make them lighter.
Cut the ornamental grass from Botanical Garden 2 and some other ornamental greenery from Botanical Garden 1 and layered it on the card.  A sympathy  sentiment and a few sequins completed this card.

That's our card samples for today.  Hope these samples have sparked some ideas for additional ways to use these dies. They are so versatile and could be used for a variety of occasions.

Friendly Llamas

Hi, Lois here today with another card using one of the CottageCutz Llamas and Botanicals dies.  You might want to check them out while they're still 25% off.  I used the die with two llamas for my card.  Again, I used one of Splitcoaststampers old sketch challenge layouts as my starting point . . .

. . . rotating it for my card.

To begin, I cut all the elements of the Llamas die from white cardstock.

I then colored the pieces with my Copic markers and "built" my llamas.

Then I cut my cardstock as follows:

Turquoise cardstock - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
                                    3 1/2" x 2 1/2"
White cardstock - 4" x 4" and 3 1/2" x 4"
Dark patterned paper - 3 1/4" square
Light patterned paper - 3 3/8" x 2 3/8"

From the two small white pieces of cardstock, I cut the largest Double-stitched Square and the 2nd largest Double-stitched Rectangle.

I then constructed my card following the sketch.

After stamping the small sentiment at the top right-hand corner of the yellow panel, I placed foam pop-dots behind the two llamas and placed them on the card, adding a bit of shadowing beneath them with a gray marker.  My card was complete.

Travelling Llamas

Hi!

It's Anja here. For today's post I couldn't go without the llamas. They are so adorable and are still available in the store for a 25 % discount. I put them in the travelling mode as they walk trough the desert in the night. I love making scenes with Cottage Cutz dies.

For this card I used:
- Cottage Cutz dies (Traveling Llama, Llamas, Potted Cactus, Pierced Circle Set),
- Distress Inks (Walnut Stain, Mowed Lawn, Forest Moss, Peeled Paint, Aged Mahogany, Fired Brick, Wild Honey, Faded Jeans, Bundled Sage, Shabby Shutters),
- Distress Oxides (Hickory Smoke, Tattered Rose, Worn Lipstick, Wilted Violet, Faded Jeans, Blueprint Sketch, Frayed Burlap, Lucky Clover, Vintage Photo, Salty Ocean, Picked Raspberry, Twisted Citron, Fossilized Citron, Seedless Preserves),
- gold pigment ink,
- white card base (11x21 cm),
- white card stock for background (10,5x20,5 cm) and die cuts,
- water spritzer,
- washi tape,
- heat gun,
- black pen,
- paper glue.

First I die cut all the pieces for the llamas and colored them with combination of Distress Inks and Oxides.

I used black pencil for the eyes.

I used only greenery from the Potted Cactus die.

I used a circle die from Pierced Circle Set to cut a circle from a piece of card stock. I used it as a stencil for the moon.

I cut a rectangle from white card stock (10,5x20,5 cm) for the background. I adhere the circle with washi tape. And I used Distress Oxides to make the night sky and ground. When  was satisfied with the colors I used water spritzer to make the stars.

I dried the surface with the heat gun. I put the stencil over the moon and put a grey colored ink over it. I also spritz it with water. I used paper towel for the access water and then dried it with the heat gun.

When I had the background ready I glued it on the card base and then adhered the llamas and the cactus and other desert greenery.

And this is my finished card.

I hope your Sunday is as relaxing as possible. I'm planing a trip with my brother and sister.

See you again next week.
Anja Z.

LLamas & Botanical Card Samples (Part 2)

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit today. We have a brand new release of Llamas & Botanical dies available in the online store. And the dies are currently on sale for a limited time at 25% off the retail price.

The new dies have a couple of super cute Llama images as well as cactus and other succulents. And, let's not dismiss our sweet hummingbird and a great garden bird image. There are so many different ways to use these dies and the Design Team has been featuring these dies in their posts over the past 10 days. If you haven't' seen them look back over the blog for some great eye candy.

Today, I have 2 additional samples to share with you.

Card 1: This first sample is a card from Janja Albrecht. She used the Shelf w/Plants dies to create a lovely indoor scene. She has the plants nestled on a shelf against a brick wall backdrop.

It's a great card of encouragement that is sure to brighten the spirits of the one who receives it. She used the perfect encouragement sentiment on her card.

Card 2: This next sample is a card that I (Mary Marsh) created. I used the Traveling Llama die for my sample. From the moment I saw this die, I had an idea to create a card to welcome a new family to our neighborhood.
This card along with a baked loaf of banana bread or a plate of chocolate chip cookies is always appreciated. And it's a way to get to know your new neighbor.

The llama with his bags all packed and loaded just reminded me of someone that is moving in somewhere. You could also use it to let friends know you are moving. Or how about when you are sending your student off to college or to summer camp. Lots of ways to use this die and even more that I haven't thought of.
That's our card samples for today.  Hope these samples have sparked some ideas for ways to use these dies. I will have another group post on Tuesday with these new dies. And, remember they are currently 25% off for a limited time in the online store.
