For Dad (new dies)

For my card today, I am featuring the new Hats, Glasses & Moustaches + the Retro Alphabet dies. Let's get started with some details on how I created my project.

Step 1: I started my card this week with the layout. I saw this interesting sketch on Splitcoaststampers on Wednesday and an immediate idea came into my head on how to use it with these new dies. Love it when that happens.  

Step 2: I selected my card colors. Looked through my papers for some patterned paper with masculine appeal. I found this paper that had this tweed pattern -  very masculine so I decided to use it. Paired that up with some matching cardstock in soft suede (light brown). For the panel across the middle I used a yellow cardstock.

Soft Suede Card Base: 5 1/2" x 4 1/4"
Patterned Paper Layer: 5 3/8" x 4 1/8"
Yellow rectangle Panel: 5 3/8" x 1"

Step 3: I cut my Dad phrase and used the same cardstocks as the card base colors. I added a 3rd color of Cajun craze. It's a cinnamon color cardstock.

The hat, glasses, moustache and pipe are all cut in soft suede cardstock. I sponged the glasses & pipe with soft suede ink to make them a little darker.

For the tags on the sketch, I used an older CottageCutz die- it's the mail tag set. It's the smallest of the tags and I cut in a kraft card stock.

Step 4: Started card assembly.  I assembled the card base, patterned paper and middle rectangle panel using double sided tape.

Next, I attached the tags, the Dad Letters and the hat, glasses moustache and pipe. On the tags I used double sided tape and for the letters I used Ranger Multi medium matte. Its a liquid adhesive that dries clear. For the other images I wanted them lifted from the background panel so I used dimensional adhesive.

Just For Guys Design Team Samples (Part 1)

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit today. We are sampling DT cards from the new Just For Guys release. There are 14 dies in this release and it's currently on sale for 25% off.
 They are ideal for Father's Day, Guy Stuff, Car Buffs, Retro & Classic look and a great Retro Alphabet. So many possibilities with the14 new designs.

We have had a good response when we do a group post on a release. It gives you the opportunity to see more card samples from the Design Team. So we are continuing that again this month. We have 4 samples for your viewing pleasure today.

Card 1:  This first sample is from Jeanne Knobbe. She used the Vintage T-Bird and Build-A-Sign dies to create a great masculine card. So perfect for your guy's birthday or even for Father's Day. She stamped her sentiment right on the sign. It reminds me of a billboard you might see at a car dealership. Her choice of patterned paper really completed the retro look on the card.

Card 2:  This next sample is from Lois Bak.  She used the Happy Father's Day Phrase and Hats, Glasses & Moustaches dies to create a great Father's Day card. She stamped the guy image and then added the hat and glasses to it. A creative way to extend your dies and stamps. She completed this card by adding her die cut Father's Day sentiment and a pipe.

Card 3:  This next sample is another from Lois Bak.  She used the Classic Car and Retro Alphabet dies to create a great masculine birthday card. The card layout is the "Impossible Card" that is trending online right now. Here is a link to a Splitcoaststampers tutorial if you would like to create one. She stamped the Happy word and used the Retro Alphabet letters for the Birthday word. The different fonts in the alphabet die add interest to her card.

Card 4:  The last sample for today is a Father's Day card that I (Mary Marsh) created using the Dad's Tools and Happy Father's Day Phrase dies. I used some cork background paper because I was going after a peg board look. The tools have such detail, a look that CottageCutz specializes in on all their dies.

Guy's Birthday!

Good Morning Scrapping Cottage Friends!

It is Pam sharing with you today!

We have a number of sales going on in the store today!  Including a look at our new release which is Just for Guys!!! It is 14 wonderful dies all for the wonderful men in our lives! Can you believe they are on sale for 25% off!  So please check out the online sales!

Today, I am using one of the new dies from the Just for Guys release.  I think these new dies are amazing and so wonderfully detailed!

Design Steps:

1.  Use an A2 white card base cut a slightly smaller piece of black card stock.  Cut a piece of car DP 4 x 2 1/2,  a piece of wave length DP 1 1/2 x 4,  a piece of gray card stock 1/2 x 4 glue all pieces to the black card stock as shown.  Set aside

2.  Cut all of the piece out of white and black card stock using the Race Cars and Flags die

3.  Color all of the pieces with your markers

 4.  Assemble the car and add the ribbon to the card front then glue to the white card base. Then pop the car to the card as shown

 5.  Assemble the flags shade with gray marker then pop to the card front add the sentiment layered on black card stock

Tagged Orchids

Hi, Lois here with my Monday card.   While waiting for receipt of the "Just for Guys" release from CottageCutz, the design team is still spotlighting dies from the Mother's Day release.  My card today features the Orchids die and came together very quickly.

I started by cutting the orchid pieces from white cardstock.

I colored the pieces using Copic markers and constructed my orchid plant.

I then cut the card base as follows:  8 1/2" x 5 1/2" white cardstock, scored at 4 1/4"; 4" x 5 1/4" patterned paper; and the tag from white cardstock 2" x 4 1/2".

I cut the corners of the tag with a punch then punched a hole in the top center of the tag, threading some baker's twine through the hole.

I then stamped the "happy birthday" sentiment at the bottom of the tag and glued on the orchids.

I adhered the tag to the card at an angle, using large foam pop dots and finished off the card by adding a few enamel dot stickers.

Raccoon for Dad

Hi!

This is Anja. I have a short post for you today. I made a simple black&white card for Father's Day. I found this mustache patterned paper and build the card around it.

For this card I used:
- Cottage Cutz dies (Mama Raccoon & Baby, Stitched Alphabet, Stitched Numbers, Oval Set),
- Distress Ink Pumice Stone,
- white card base (10,5x15 cm),
- black card stock for background (10x14,5 cm) and die cuts,
- grey and white card stock for die cuts,
- patterned paper for background (9,5x14 cm),
- adhesive foam pads,
- scissors,
- white pen,
- black pen,
- paper glue.

First I die cut the raccoon from white, grey and black card stock. I used Distress Ink to color the edges. I used white and black pen for the eyes. I cut raccoons arm with the scissors, for it to hold the number.

Then I die cut the letters and the numbers. I used Distress Ink to color the edges.

I did the same with the ovals.I used the two largest dies.

I cut the background from black and patterned paper. I used Distress Ink around the patterned paper.

When I had everything colored and cut, I used paper glue to adhere all the pieces to the card. And this is my finished card.
