2 Swinging Monkey Valentines

Hi CottageCutz Friends,

Kris here with you today, sharing 2 Valentine's Day cards featuring the cute Swinging Monkey and the Valentine Phrase & More!.  The first one is a quick & easy valentine's card.  For my 2nd card, I made an interactive swinging card!

CARD #1

DESIGN STEPS:

I cut my A2 top folding card base in a dark pink, then I layered a piece of Doodlebug Design Hearts paper slightly smaller, 5-1/4" x 4".

I die cut the largest Nested Wacky Stitched Rectangles from white c.s. and stamped half of a sentiment onto lower portion as shown, then mounted it onto card front.

I also die cut the Swinging Monkey and the Valentine Phrase & More from white cardstock, and the hearts from  2 shades of pink.  I also foiled the 2nd half of my sentiment onto pink c.s.

I colored my monkey and assembled.  Then I cut off his hands so I could glue them on top of the hearts like he's actually holding them.

I decided to hang him by his tail instead of his arm, so I glued the tail to tree limb and then onto the card.  I added some foam tape behind his body to pop him out a bit.

Next, I popped up 2 hearts where his hands would be with foam tape, then glued his hands to the hearts.  I then glued the li'l hearts to the tree limbs and around.

And lastly, I popped up the foiled sentiment with foam mounting tape and Voila!   How stinkin' CUTE is he??!!!

CARD #2
(This one actually swings!)

DESIGN STEPS:

For this one, I started with a 5-1/2" square top folding card in light pink.  I stenciled on front to add a li'l interested, then stenciled hearts (from the Valentine Phrase & More cut outs) where the dotty lines intersect.

Next, I die cut the largest Stitched Rectangle set from the center of my card front (with the card open).

Next, I die cut a darker pink frame by nesting the largest Scalloped Rectangle and the 2nd largest  Stitched Rectangle set as shown

I glued the frame to the card front.

I cut a piece of white c.s. to 5" square and cut 2 pieces, also 5" wide and die cut tops with the Grass Slimline dies.  Then I colored with distress oxide ink.

I glued the monkey's body and arm to an acetate strip.  Then I punched a hole where his hand would be that was big enough to go around a tiny spinner disc (you could also stack 2 round mini foam dots on top of each other if you want) and position and glue it to the center of the inside of your card as shown below.

*It helps to close the front of card for positioning.

Then, with the acetate strip around the glued disc, I glued the tree limb to the top of disc (or dimensional dots). Then I glued his hand to the top of the tree limb where his arm is at and glued the hearts to the tree limb.

I then attached my sentiments to the front as shown.

And lastly, I cut a piece of lime cardstock 5-1/2" x 3" and scored at 1/2", 1-1/2", 2-1/2" then mountain fold, valley fold, mountain fold it.  Burnish score lines, and add Scor Tape to the 2 outer flaps.

Attach the flaps to insides of card at the bottom.

For the back, I cut a piece of white cardstock 5" square and mounted a piece of dark pink that was die cut with largest scalloped square die.  I then mounted the sentiment and have room to hand write on the white border.  ☺

Vintage Valentine Mailbox

Hello Crafty Friends

It is Pam sharing with you today!

I am adding to my Valentine collections.  I send out quite a few so I will probably make mutlitples of this one because it was pretty quick.  I am using the Vintage Mailbox as my main focal point on this card.

Design Steps:
1.  Using the Vintage Mailbox cut out the pieces in pink designer paper, silver and dark gray card stock.  Using Puppy Love Letter die cut out the pieces in cream and pink card stock.  Ink all the pieces in black ink.  Assemble the pieces
2.  Use a dark gray A2 card base, piece of pink card stock 4 1/8 x 5 3/8, piece of designer paper 4 x 5 1/4 and a piece of pink checked designer paper 2 1/2 x 4.  Ink all of the edges in black ink
3.  Glue the designer paper to the pink card stock.  Glue the pink checked piece to the designer paper slightly above center as shown
4.  Glue the gray piece of the Vintage Mailbox to the pink checked paper slightly left of center as shown.  Place dimension dots on the back of the mailbox and then pop it to the grey piece
5.  Glue down the cream envelopes and add the little pink hearts.  Finish by adding a sheer ribbon, some heart rhinestones and your sentiment.  Then glue it to the gray card base

Nugget Treat Boxes Tutorial

Hey crafty friends,
Happy Wonderful Wednesday. I hope this day is going well for you. Today I am sharing the tutorial for the project I created Yesterday. Here is a picture of the project yesterday (with a different version).

This is a picture of my project only from yesterday. For details on this project, see yesterday's post.

Tutorial

To make the box, start with cutting your piece of cardstock to 8x10.5. Below is the template I designed.
Per my template, cut out the red areas of the paper.
You will want to score along the green lines. So to make it. Cut your paper to the size listed above.
Along the 10.5" side, Score along the following: 1.25, 2.5, 3.75 and 5" marks. HOWEVER, for the 5" mark, you want to only score up to the 1.25 in from each side of the 8" side.
On the 8" side, score at 1.25" and the 6.75" side which is the same as 1.25 from that side.
Last thing: Snip just a little from the flaps so that there is just a little wiggle room when you glue them together. You see that by the thin strip of light red at the end of each one.

Here is what it should look like when you have it cut and scored. Notice, the 5" score line really isn't across the main part. It is really to reference the measurement for the side tabs to cut out the larger sections.

Here is what the base looks like once it is folded up. This is the smaller base.

Here is a look at the finished larger sized box.

Here is the larger nugget box template. Remember to snip just a little from the flaps so that there is just a little wiggle room when you glue the flaps together.

Here is a side view of the larger box before I closed up one of the sides. Here you can see that it is two rows of four on the bottom and the top.

Here is a view of the two treat boxes. You can see the size better.

Here is a different view from the top to show the size difference as well.

The main difference is that the larger one equates to twice as big as the smaller. You can do 8 nuggets in the smaller one. Two rows of 4. One stacked on top of eachother.

The larger one allows for two rows of 4 with two rows stacked for a total of 16 nuggets.

Well, that about covers it for today. Be sure to come back and see what the rest of the super talented designers are up to. Until the next time, have a wonderfully crafty day!

Hersheys Nugget Treat Box

Hey crafty friends,
Melinda here with you and I am very glad you stopped in today! It's another Terrific Tuesday!
It's my turn to share here at the Cottage Cutz blog. So here is what I came up with. I created this fun Hershey's Nugget treat box with a fun message panel. Take a look.

Here are my elements, ready to put on my box.

Here's a closer look at the sentiment. I used the fun sentiments from two die sets. The Warm and Wishes are from a retired die and the birthday is from the Sentiment, Happy Birthday die. The balloons came from the Spring Party Car die from last year's spring release. I layered all of those onto a colored paper mat that is on top of the second to the largest double-stitched rectangle die in that set. I cut that out of white cardstock.

Here is a closer look at the adorable Merry Moose. While he was a Christmas die, he works perfectly for the cold weather too! I tucked his hat behind his antler and left off the pom pom to make it look less "christmasy".  I cut him out of all white cardstock and then colored him in. I would say that I do that with my dies about 75% of the time. I love coloring them in.
This is the back of the treat box. The finished outer size of the back panel shown here is 5.5 x 5.5. I didn't put an additional panel after the colored mat, but you could easily do so and write your personal note here.

Stay tuned, tomorrow I will share the template and tutorial on how to assemble the box!
