PLUMERIA BLOOMS

Hello friends,

It's Anita Kejriwal here, bringing for you a very pretty spring card made with CottageCutz dies.

It's Saturday today and everyone is ready to have super weekend. I ,too am going to have a fun filled weekend with lot of craft activities. So why don't you join me to create this card adorned with very pretty flowers!
I have used stitched Circle dies to create a pattern on the card base on which I have laid down the flowers.

So have a look at the card followed by some step by step pictures to show you how to make this card.

Instructions and pictures for making the card.

The completed card measures 7 inches by 5 inches.

1. Cut a card base the measures 10 inches by 7 inches. Score at the 5 inch mark on the 10 inches side and fold.

2. To make the first mat layer, Cut a card stock measuring 4.75 inches by 6.75 inches. Cut another pink pattern paper measuring 4.5 inches by 6.5inches .
Apply Aged Mahogany Distress Ink on the pattern paper and mark score lines at an interval of 1/8th inch. Adhere this to the mat layer. Adhere the mat layer to the card base with 3D foam tape.

3. Using the CottageCutz Stitched Circle set, cut out frames in many sizes in white card stock and arrange on to the card as shown in the picture below.

4. Cut out flowers and leaves from the CottageCutz Plumeria and Leaves set and make do some deep cutting between the petals by removing the notch between the petals.

5. Colour the flowers with Color Box inks and the leaves with Distress inks. Add a few black dots on the petals.

6. Arrange the flowers and leaves on the card as shown.

7. Add the sentiment from the CottageCutz Expressions Best Wishes on a vellum paper and adhere to the card.

The card is ready.

CottageCutz Challenge #1 - ANYTHING GOES

Hi, Vladka here.

My dear craft friends. I´m so happy to announce this. Today we are starting our first CottageCutz challenge. This will give you the opportunity to show us all your great projects made with Cottage Cutz dies. I´m so excited and can't wait to see them.

How and when?

Challenge will take place every month. It will be open with my first post within the month and it will be closed at the end of the month.

At the end of these posts, "Add your link" button will be available that you will be able to add link to your project. You do not need a blog to link up. You can also use social network sites (as Facebook...), or photo sharing sites (as Google +...). If you are not familiar how "Add your link" is working, I prepare this screenshot for you - click on the image to enlarge it.

Every challenge will have his own theme. So please, make a project which will represent the theme of the month and please use only CottageCutz dies. You can show us cards, invitations, boxes, decorations or any other project made with CottageCutz dies.

And this is not all. Every month two lucky winners will be randomly chosen and will get gift certificate for Scrapping Cottage store. Great, right?

And now it's time to start and let's start very simple - the theme for our first challenge is ANYTHING GOES.

Let me show you what I've created. I used dies from Nautical release to create Nautical table setting. Are you interesting how I did it?

Supplies:

CottageCutz Dies: Listed Below
Cardstock: white, red and two shades of blue Cardstock
Distress Ink: Brushed Corduroy, Gathered Twigs
Other: Scissors, Paper trimmer, Sizzix machine, black and yellow marker

1. With Captain and Sailor Owls die cut all die pieces out with white, red and two shades of blue cardstock. Color the front of the hat with black marker and beak and claws with yellow marker. Glue all the owl pieces together as shown on the photo.
2. With Paddles and Rope Ladder die, cut the paddle out with some white cardstock and colored it with Brushed Corduroy and Gathered Twigs distress ink or any other brown ink.
3. In the Word, design the name and print it with your printer on white cardstock. Before you cut out the oval, put the CottageCutz Stitched Oval die on the paper, so that the name will be displayed in lower part of the oval. Use the biggest stitched oval shape (sixth from the center). Glue paddle and the owl on it. Now you have a name holder for the table setting.
4. Cut the life preserver out with some white and red cardstock. Use Life Preserver die for this and color the twine with some light brown distress ink as Old Paper. Glue all the pieces together as shown on the photo. Use live preserver as napkin holder.
5. For some more decoration you can also cut out the ship's wheel or anchor, color it with brown distress ink and put it on the table.

OK, this is is my projects. And now go back to our challenge a little bit more. As I told you before, two lucky winners will be randomly chosen and will get gift certificate for Scrapping Cottage store.

First one will get gift certificate value of 50$...
... and second one in the value of 25$.
Isn't that awesome?

You have time till 30th of april to participate.
Both winners will be announced in the same post as new challenge (for May) will begin.

All you need to do is take your CottageCutz dies and start creating!
Please, use just CottageCutz dies!
Have fun and don´t forget to show us all your projects.

"Add your link" button is available under the list of used dies.

P.S.
Sorry, but I have to write this. Because some linked projects didn't use only CottageCutz dies (which is the only restriction our Challenge has), I was obligated to remove them from the links. You are more than welcome to participate at our challenge, but please, use only CottageCutz dies.

A FLORAL CARD AND A VIDEO TUTORIAL

Hello friends,

Hope you are having a great time.

I am Anita Kejriwal here with a beautiful new project for you. This is a floral card with daisy flowers and I have used CottageCutz dies to create this entire card.

CottageCutz has released some amazing new dies to create 3D flowers and over the next few weeks, I will be using these to create many new types of flowers and also with tutorials for some of them.

In this post, I will show you how to create this daisy flower with the CottageCutz 3D flower #1.

So do have a look at this card.

Here is the Video Tutorial on how to make these flowers.

To make the base of the card--

1. Cut a piece of card stock measuring 10 inches by 7 inches and score at the 5 inch mark, fold to make the card base. The finished card measures 5 inches by 7 inches.

2. Cut a piece of card stock measuring 4.75 inches by 6.75 inches and on top of this adhere a piece of pattern paper measuring 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches.

3. Cut three die cuts from the  CottageCutz Stitched Wide Rectangle Frame set and adhere on to the front of the card using foam tape and as shown on the card.

4. Cut the Thinking of You die cut in black card stock from the CottageCutz Expressions Thinking Of You die and adhere to the card as shown.

5.Make flowers using the CottageCutz 3D flower#1 die as shown in the video tutorial above and arrange on the card along with CottageCutz Leafy Foliage die cut three to four times in light green and dark green card stock.

I hope you enjoyed the video . Do leave your comments. If you have any queries regarding making this flower , please free to ask. Keep crafting and have a good day !!!

Gate Fold Flower Card

Hello Scrapping Cottage fans. Thanks for taking the time to drop by and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here with the Wednesday edition of the Blog.

Today for your viewing pleasure, I have created a fancy fold card and used some fabulous CottageCutz dies. The fold is called the Gate Fold and I have all the instructions on how you can make one. So let's get started.

Card Base: White Card Stock 8½” x 5½” and scored at 2 1/8” and 6 3/8”

White Panels: when folded are 2 1/8” x 5 ½”. Card is still 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".

Dark Green Layer: 2” x 5 3/8”
Patterned Paper: 1 7/8” x 5 ¼”
Pink Rear Panel: 5 5/8" x 4 3/8"

Taped layers with double sided tape and adhered to white card base. After I took this picture, I remembered I wanted to use some pink ribbon. Oops! I had to remove the left panel to  add my ribbon. But, I forgot to take another photo.

Now for the die cuts: I used the 3D Flower #2 from the March release and cut in pink cardstock.  Between each layer of the flower I used dimensional adhesive. I also used a bone folder and curled the ends of the petals. It creates a nice rounded look to the flowers.

For some added greenery, I used the CottageCutz Butterfly with Flowers die. I cut once in dark green and once in pink. I cut the pink flowers and adhered them over the green.
The CottageCutz circle set basics is the backdrop for my flower. I used the 3rd largest die and cut in white and then the 4th largest die and cut in pink. Attached this to my card, but I just taped the left side of the circle. That way it won't interfere with the card opening.

To finish off the front of my card I cut a butterfly from the Butterfly with Flowers die. I attached one to the patterned paper and then for some added height I cut another one and used glue to secure just the middle.

I also finished the inside of the card simply by adding a piece of pink cardstock and stamping a sentiment.

Well, that's it for me for today. I hope my card has inspired you to try a gate fold card. So until next time......inky hugs!

Pelican

Hi, Janja here!

I'm glad that spring is here, and even more, I am looking forward to summer. This year so much that we already booked our holidays. Since the holidays are still far away, my dreams are being realized with cards.
So let's get started ...

For the card we need:
  • white card base: 8.5 x 5.5" (21,5 x 14 cm) folded
  • blue and white cardstock: 4 x 5.2" (10 x 13,2 cm) and 3.7 x 4.9" (9,5 x 12,6 cm)
  • scraps of colored cardstock
  • Distress inks: Broken China, Faded Jeans, Vintage Photo, Wild Honey and Pumice Stone
  • blue ribbon
  • glue and adhesive pads

I printed the inscription in Word and painted the background with Distress inks, water and a brush. Before painting paper was wet with water for more beautiful flowing.

For the pelican I used a CottageCutz die. All cutouts are shaded with the Distress inks. With shading we achieved look of depth.
I applied adhesive foam pads to the back of my pelican and attached it.
With scissors, we draw around the edges of the cardstock. At the lower end of the cardstock I glued a ribbon, bound in a knot.
When card was completed, I added some seagulls and fish.

Have a nice day.
