I think I'll be a Unicorn!

Happy Friday Cottage Cutz fan!  It's Jeanne today with an easy, fun card.  I love this pretty, floral unicorn die and found the perfect sentiment for it in my stash - "Always be yourself (unless you can be a unicorn)".
For this card I started opposite from my usual order of things which is working on the image, then the layout.  I stamped the sentiment in purple ink on a panel of 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 inch lavender cardstock and die cut a circle from mint cardstock using the second largest of the Stitched Circles dies.
Then I freehand cut a curve over the sentiment.
Next I die cut the unicorn from white cardstock.  There are a lot of pieces to this die so I divided them into separate piles for ease in coloring - unicorn pieces, flowers, and leaves.  I opted not to use the stars and moon.

I used Distress Oxide ink to color the mane and just tip the edges of the unicorn.  I left the horn white to be covered later in Wink of Stella.
I took a white A2 panel and adhered the circle unicorn and sentiment panel to it.
I colored my leaves in three shades of green and the flowers in various shades of warm colors.  I just chose whatever seemed to go with the lavender and mint that I had picked.  Then I began to randomly layout and glue the greenery and flowers along the curve that I had cut.  You can see that I had one leaf on the right extend past the panel.  I snipped off the extra when I was through.
I decided to add a few floral elements to the upper right.
My final step was to use several coats of Wink of Stella on the horn and add some rhinestones and pearls interspersed in the flowers and greenery for a little extra sparkle.

Unicorn With Flowers

Hi!

It's Anja here. I have another quick project for you today. I made a magical scene, using an unicorn and decorating it with flowers.

For this card I used:
- Cottage Cutz dies (Unicorn Floral, Nested Stitched Eyelet Circle Set),
- Distress Inks (Mustard Seed, Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick, Dusty Concord, Twisted Citron, Peeled Paint, Mowed Lawn, Pumice Stone, Broken China),
- white card base (21x10 cm),
- white card stock for die cuts,
- patterned paper (20,5x9,5 cm),
- liquid drops (pink, yellow),
- adhesive foam pads,
- paper glue.

First I cut and colored the unicorn and all the flowers and greenery.

Next I cut all the pieces for the background.

And when I had everything cut and colored I glued all the pieces to the card base. In the end  used liquid drops to add a bit of dimension to the flowers.

And my card was done.

This is all from me for today. Don't forget to stop by at the store for the new release.

See you again next week.

Anja Z.

I Love You Like Unicorns Love Rainbows. . .

Hello!  This is Sukie and today I have a card to share created with the Magical Fantasy die release.  I'm so in love with the Unicorn Floral die, it has so many detailed die cuts.
After I cut out each of the pieces I shaded them with my Distress Oxide Inks.  I varied the shading to achieve a range of colors on the pieces.
To create the background of my card, I heat embossed a sentiment on some white card stock and used a die cut Circle to mask off a portion of my card.  The background was then inked around the circle which really made the sentiment pop.  Once I achieved the right amount of color, the die cut circle was removed from the background and discarded.
The unicorn was placed inside the circle and the circle border was used as a guide for placement of the greenery.  All of the flowers and greenery were adhered to surround the unicorn.
The open spaces were filled in with the smaller flowers and stars.  I added a couple of enamel dots on each side of the sentiment as a finishing accent.
Here are the dies I used on my cards available in the shop:

DT Samples w/Spring & Fantasy Dies (Day 4)

Hello Scrapping Cottage Friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit today. We are sampling cards from our Spring and also our new Magical Fantasy release.
There are 27 new designs in the Magical Fantasy release. And for a limited time the individual dies are on sale at 25% off. We want to give your some ideas for your own card making. So let's get started with our samples for today.

Card 1: This is a card that I (Mary Marsh) created using the beautiful new Unicorn Floral die. I thought this would make a great feminine graduation card since the grad will be going on a new life adventure. To create the circular wreath look I used one of our circle dies and drew a pencil line. Then I started building my wreath starting with the unicorn and worked my way around. The coloring on our packaging is so beautiful that I used similar colors. A simple change of sentiment and this could be a birthday, anniversary or even a get well card.

Card 2:  Our next sample is from Anja Zurga. She also created a floral card using the Spring Teacup Bouquet. How perfect would this be for Mother's Day. What Mom doesn't like to get flowers? Or do you have a friend who loves to garden and has flower beds that are the envy of the neighborhood? Make her a card like this to let her know you are thinking of her. So many occasions and possibilities with this die.
Card 3: Our next sample is from Pam MacKay. She used the Sweet Unicorns die to create a beautiful and whimsical birthday card. Since Unicorns are adorable and very magical, the special little one in your life will love it. The background was created with distress oxide inks and the use of shimmer paper on the unicorn manes added just the right touch of sparkle.  The sentiment carries through the magical appeal of her card.
Card 4:  Our last sample for today is from Janja Albreht. She used the Peeking Egg Bunny and Spring Potted Bunnies dies to create this super cute and colorful Easter card. Don't you just love these precious little bunnies and look at that little bunny behind. The eye catching  Easter Phrase is using an older die -Retro Alphabet.
Well that's our samples for today. I hope the team has given you some fresh ideas for creative ways to use the new dies over the past 4 days. If you haven't seen the other cards check here, here and here. Happy Easter everyone!

DT Samples w/Spring and Magical Release dies

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit today. We are sampling DT cards for the next 4 days from our Spring release and also our the brand new Magical Fantasy release.

There are 27 new designs in the Magical Fantasy release. And for a limited time the individual dies are on sale at 25% off.
We want to  give you some creative ideas for using the dies. So let's get started with the cards for today.

Card 1:  Our first sample today is from Sukie Dhillon. She is featuring the new Flying Unicorn die. She created a shaker card that is sure to brighten someone's day. The sweet Flying Unicorn is at the focal point of the card and is accented with the stars and clouds in the background. The inspirational sentiment finishes off this magical scene. To create this polaroid style shaker card she also used the Fairytale Birthday, Unicorn Floral and Square Set dies.
Card 2: Our next sample today is from Anja Zurga. She used the sweet Hatching Bunny and Happy Easter Greeting dies to create her colorful Easter card.  Anja always gives us such beautiful backgrounds for her cards and she didn't disappoint with this card.

She stenciled with a bright blue distress ink so perfect for this cute little hatching bunny. The Happy Easter greeting was cut in white cardstock and sponged with a bright pink ink. The Hatching Bunny dies would also work well for a new baby card or even as baby shower invitations. Think out of the box with seasonal dies.
Card 3: Our last sample for today is from Janja Albreht. She used the cute Spring Frog w/Lilypad die to create a great card of encouragement for a friend. It's a perfect mix of a fun card and a way to show a special friend that we understand.  The water underneath the lilypad is from the Fishing Pole and boat die.  Her sentiment is so spot-on when a friend needs a pick me.
Well that's our samples for today. I hope the team has given you some fresh ideas for a way to use the dies. Stop by the Blog again tomorrow for more team samples.
