Miss Petunia Bunny

Hi, Lois here with a quick Easter card.  CottageCutz's Spring/Easter release has lots of cute dies.  I'm using three of them on my card today -- Happy Easter Phrase, Miss Petunia Bunny, and Spring Meadow.   Before I explain about my card, I first wanted to remind you that there is a 25% discount sale on the newest Rise and Shine release in the CottageCutz store, with lots of cute breakfast and cooking dies.  Be sure to check them out while the sale continues.

And now for my card:

Before cutting out the dies, I put a sheet of two-sided adhesive on the back of a piece of white cardstock to make adhering the smaller die-cuts easier.  To tell the truth, I waver back-and-forth between using the adhesive sheets and not.  Either process will work well if you have a fine-tip applicator on your glue for when you don't use the adhesive sheet.

After cutting out the pieces, I colored them and constructed each element.  I used a black mini brad for Miss Petunia's eye.

Then I gathered the supplies for my card base:

White cardstock - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2"

Sky patterned paper - 4" x 5 1/4"

Brick patterned paper - 4" x 1 1/2"

Green cardstock to cut the grass from the Spring Meadow die

I then constructed my card base, adding the "Happy Easter" phrase.  

After slipping Miss Petunia between the rows of grass, I placed the egg on the wall, and stuck the flowers (from the Happy Easter Phrase die) to the stems within the grass.  I tend to work "by the seat of my pants" and realized that the phrase didn't really stand out as much as I had envisioned, so I pulled out my Dark Green Wink of Stella brush and went over the lettering.  I was much happier with the result -- it now glitters!

Spring Window Scene

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us on this St Patrick's Day 2018. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Saturday edition of the Blog. Hope you all have recovered from the switch to Daylight Savings time. It usually affects me for a couple of days, but I think I am adjusted now. Love the longer daylight that's for sure.

Before I start with today's card, I wanted to let you know we have a new release of dies. It's our Rise & Shine collection and they are currently on a 25% sale. To see some card samples from the team - click here and here. 

Today, I am showing a card from our Spring die collection. I am using the Spring Window w/Vine  and also the Chickies w/Egg Plant dies. So let's get started with some details on how I created my card.

Step 1: I decided to create an outdoor scene. Started by using a brick wall stencil and white 3-D molding the wall. I stenciled on a light gray cardstock.

Carefully removed the tape and set it aside to dry. I like how some of the brick have the appearance of slight imperfections. Just like real brick. This panel is 3 7/8" x 5 1/8".

Step 2: On this step I cut my window, vine and flowers. I love the detail of the flowers in this die. Used sweet sugarplum, rich razzleberry and daffodil yellow cardstocks.

I cut my 2 chickies from daffodil yellow cardstock and sponged the edges slightly with wild honey distress ink. Just to add a little depth.

Step 3: Ready to start some card assembly. I used dimensional adhesive on the window and chicks. I like the dimension it gives to your card. Since you are looking into the window, I added some sweet sugarplum cardstock so it would look like a painted wall. The Spring grass is an older CottageCutz die.

Step 4: I wanted to get a sentiment on this card and I just wasn't quite sure how to do that. Thought about stamping on the egg shell or on the grass but neither of those ideas really resonated with me. Then the lightbulb went off and I decided to add the Joy phrase to the window.

It is the perfect size. And, this die is currently 80% off. You can pick it up for just a $1.00 in the online store.

I also cut 3 butterflies in the same colors as the window flowers. They are from the Spring Meadow die.

 

Step 5:  To complete my card I used the sweet sugarplum cardstock. The card base is 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".  Well, that's it for me for this week. I hope I have given you an idea for an Easter card. You still have time to get these dies if you want to re-create this card. See you next Saturday!

Easter Egg Plant (new die)

Today, I am showing a card from our Spring die collection. They are on a limited time sale at 25% off. I used the Chickies w/Egg Plant, Spring Meadow, and Stitched Flowers dies. So let's get started with some details on how I created my card.

Step 1:  Since I knew what dies I planned on using, I looked through my cardstock and patterned papers for some spring colors. I have a spring mix stack from DCWV that has some great patterns in it. I just needed to match it to cardstock. Decided that yellow and green would coordinate well with the pattern of paper I chose.
Wild Wasabi (green) card base: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
Daffodil Delight (yellow) layering panel : 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"
Patterned Paper layer: 3 7/8" x 5 1/8"

Step 2: cut my "egg plant" from a lilac cardstock and layered yellow underneath.  The plant pot is also cut in lilac with a matching paper for the trim. The stitched flowers are cut in lilac and yellow.

Step 3: Started the assembly of the card base and layering panels. Used double sided tape to secure. 

I decided to cut a white rectangle 1 3/4" x 4 1/2" as a base for the egg plant & pot. Lightly Sponged distress tumbled ink as a background.

Used the Spring Meadow die to add some grass to the bottom of this panel. This die has 2 heights of grass so you can add shading for a slight color variance. I used the wasabi green cardstock and sponged the background. Also cut a butterfly in lilac cardstock for another element for my card.

I cut a stitched cloud from the Stitched Sun, Clouds & Umbrella die. Sponged that in distress ink and stamped my Easter sentiment directly on the cloud. I used my MISTI tool to stamp 2x in order to get a darker shade of purple.

Step 4:  Attached all the elements to the image panel with double sided tape and glue dots.

 Used dimensional foam tape to secure the panel to the patterned paper layer. I wanted it lifted somewhat since the paper has a busy pattern. Attached my 2 stitched flowers and butterfly and this card is completed.

One Die Used Five Ways - Spring Tree of Life

Hello! I hope today finds you happy and in a creative spirit.

In today's video, I've demonstrated five different cards using the same new spring 2018 die, Spring Tree of Life. I really love CottageCutz's single pass dies and when I saw this one in the new release, I couldn't wait to use it.

Why do I love this style so much? Let me count the ways. First, they are super quick to cut. Just one pass through your machine and they're ready to use on your project. Second, they have such amazing detail! The art is always exquisite. Third, you can use them in so many ways and get so many different presentations out of them. How many? A lot. The video today shows five but I'm sure you can think of even more. The photo below shows my favorite of the set. I flocked the die cut for a soft and unique look. The others are different styles and size and include a few other spring dies as well.
