The card I am making today is for a retirement celebration.  It is designed especially for a sea loving guy.  He can hardly wait to enjoy sailing and traveling to exciting places in his new found free time! I am featuring the Pirate Ship, Ship's Wheel and Map & Spyglass dies.

Design Steps:

1.  Using the following dies: Pirate Ship, Map & Spyglass and Ship's Wheel cut out the following colors of card stock: red, black, yellow, Kraft, and gray (Pirate Ship) light blue, cream, parchment, red and navy (Map and Spyglass) Kraft (Ships Wheel)

2.  Shade the pieces and then assemble with a fine tip glue

3.  Using the 5th and 6th from the largest Pierced Square dies cut out 2 squares in white.  Using the 3rd from the largest Pierced Rectangle die cut out 1 rectange in white.  Run the pieces through an embossing folder and then blend with blue ink

4.  Arrange the pieces on the rectangle and squares and then glue down

5.  The base is an A2 Kraft card stock, followed by cream colored card stock cut 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 and the top layer is black card stock cut 4 x 5 1/4.  Ink the edges of the kraft and cream card stock and glue together.  Add the black layer on top of the cream card stock.  For a little added texture I dyed cheesecloth with some TH Vintage Photo ink and placed it on top of the black card stock

6.  I was able to attach the cheesecloth by placing a good amount of glue on the backs of the rectangle and square pieces.  Add the sentiment and your card is complete

Christmas in July

It is Pam sharing with you today!

I always love to start my Christmas cards early.  Especially when it is over a 100 degrees here in Arizona! It makes me think of cooler days!!  Today I am featuring Winter Mouse by Woodstove and Kitty Christmas Tree (without kittens hee hee)

Designer Steps:

1.  Using the Winter Mouse by Woodstove and the Kitty Christmas Tree dies cut the following colors of card stock: (Winter Mouse by Woodstove) red, green, plaid, dark gray, light gray, yellow, kraft, white, dark brown, black, and pink (Kitty Christmas Tree) green, brown, red, yellow and pink

2.  Shade the pieces and then assemble with fine tip glue

3.  Arrange the pieces getting ready to place on card front

4.  Card base A2 white, DP stripes 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 and a strip of light brown DP 5 3/8 x 1

5.  Glue to the card front the brown striped DP then add the light brown strip.  Add your die cut pieces and stamp your sentiment and your card is complete

Campin' Out Spinning Slider Hedgie

Hello crafty friends! 

I hope our American friends have a fun and safe holiday tomorrow as we celebrate our country's Independence Day 🎆 We don't have our adult kids home but the hubby will BBQ something and I'll make some easy picnic foods. We live up on the plains so we can see the fireworks from our driveway.  

It's Kris sharing with you today.  Summer is great camping weather, so I created a cute camping-themed interactive slimline card that is both a spinner and a pull tab slider! 

 I followed a video tutorial for this Interactive Cartwheel card by Laura Dovalo, so instead of doing a full written tutorial, I will simply link you to her video and then I'll share with you some of my process photos (and the adjustments I made to fit this to a slimline size) using the following CottageCutz dies...

I started by diecutting a rectangle from smooth white cardstock using the largest of the Nested Stitched Rectangles Slimline set, and I die cut my pull tab slider by using the *Die extension method to make it fit my slimline card size.

I then die cut the top part using one of the dies from the Slimline Hills set.  To the top piece, I ink blended some Uncharted Mariner D.O. ink and then I spattered white acrylic paint and some white die cut stars from the Campin Out Sun & Moon die.  

For the lower section, I die cut the smallest of the Rounded Rectangles Slimline, leaving space on the right for my campfire and pull tab cout-out. *Requires thinking ahead on image placement.  

***OPTIONAL:  On the righthand side, I used the end of the 3rd smallest Rounded Rectangles Slimline -- just enough to get your fingers on the tab to pull it out. (this step was NOT in the video tutorial, but I did not want my tab to stick out as I wanted it to fit into my slimline envelope.) 

I then ink blended some Tea Dye and Vintage Photo Distress Oxide Ink onto the bottom half  of my card front and the pull tab, then spattered some alcohol ink.  

I went ahead and die cut all my Campin Out elements and glued to card front so I could determine positions for my spinning hedgie. 

I die cut 2 of the smallest Stiched Circles dies for my spinner and also showing above is my plastic spinner disc.  I also cut my card base at 7-1/2" x 8-3/4" and scored in half at 3-3/4" - I then taped off the edges and added some of the same Tea Dye and Vintage Photo D.O. ink as it will show thru then the slider is pulled out. 

I followed the video to add the stablilizer piece, wrapping the fishing line (clear plastic string) and foam strips on the back and to add the hedgie to the front.  

I hope I provided enough info for you to re-create a fun interactive slimline card using your favorite CottageCutz dies?!!  Be sure to watch the video tutorial for more details on this mechanism.
