bring on the SNOW

We are all such FISH. . . . I was out over the Holiday weekend . . you know . . just looking. . . I really don't need anything! I really . . really don't need any more Christmas scrap book paper. Well . . I just follow the scent of NEW paper, the scrapbook store in our area. . . had to have something new! Fancy Pants Hot Chocolate Collection. I needed to work on my cards for this week and . . WOW, that was exactly what I needed. (not really. . but you know that fish-y thing again). The Collection was really different in color, they used Sage, Red-ish Rust, Chestnut, Cream and two shades of Lite Blue. I hadn't used rust for Christmas, so I went for it.

I had already decide to use the Cottage Cutz Snowman Chef Die this week, but was not sure what he would be baking. I decided on a shaped card. I used my Cricut to welds an ornament shape to create the card (7.5 inch). I cut the Cottage Cutz Snowman Chef and filled his platter with snowflakes (replaceing the cake).

The rectangle card was set out about the same, but used the stripe paper on the vertical. I also used the Cottage Cutz Scallop Border Die to add a lacy edge to the stripe on both cards. The verse stickers from the Fancy Pants Collection worked out great for both cards.

Holiday Cards

Hello friends! I apologize for being late with my post. Comcast went down last night, along the East Coast, and didn't return until recently. Here are some things I have been working on. The Thanksgiving card was made with the die Autumn Centerpiece. I love this die and plan on using the candles for a Christmas Centerpiece card. The moose was made with a Cottage Impressions stamp, Moose with lights. I colored him with Copics and added various stickles for the lights. The Christmas tree was cut from green foil cardstock with the Elegant Christmas Tree die. The penguin was cut with white cardstock and colored with copic markers. I color the pieces before assembling, my personal preference. The die is Penguin with skis. I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Mine was really nice and the food was delicious! Thanksgiving Feast

Since it is still Thanksgiving weekend, I thought I would squeeze in one more Thanksgiving project! Today I am featuring the Pilgrim Hen Turkey and the Pilgrim Tom Turkey from the Cottage Cutz Nov #2 Release. These guys are so cute and very easy to piece together. I also used the Ric Rac Edger die to create a 12" strip to use as an accent on my layout. For this layout, I wanted to do something a little different with these two turkey dies. First, I dressed Tom Turkey in a more traditional Pilgrim black and white outfit. For the hen, I decided to see if I could make her into an Indian since my daughter is dressed as an Indian for her school feast. Everything I used to create her outfit are parts of the turkey die. I used my fuzzy brown paper to cut out the hen's dress to give it more of an authentic feel and look, I also used that same paper to cut out the shoes to make them look more like mocassins and tucked them behind the dress. I took scissors and snipped the end of the dress to make the fringe. For her headband, I used the hat band from Tom Turkey. What do you think??

For my card today, I used one of my new Cottage Impressions stamps.  This oh, so cute Dog with Santa Hat Stamp was colored with my Copic markers, and I broke out the Liquid Applique for the fur on the hat.  I sprinkled the Liquid Applique with a little dazzling diamond dust for sparkle, and heated it with my heat embossing tool to make it puffy.  Isn't this little guy adorable?!!

I thought these placecards would be so cute for my Thanksgiving dinner table.

You can create your names with diecuts, rub-ons or on the computer and then of course

you need some CottageCutz dies. They can pop over the top, be added on the side, the possibilities are endless. When the big dinner is over you can save them for

scrapbook layout by simply cutting off the back flap so they lay flat on your page.

That way you've served two purposes with one project.

Ski Season is Open

Ski season is open, Homer knows that he has a lot of work ahead of him for the holiday and is ready to play . . just a bit! This guy is from the Cottage Cutz Christmas Stamp Collection. Love this guy, he has a cute personality, I really liked the green and purple that was used on the package, so I decided to use my Copic markers because of the intense color and used Leaf Green (Lime) and Amethyst. . but still needed that third color. . so I went with Duck Blue Copic with a little Blue Green (looks like Teal to me!). I added a bit of Stickle to add the glitz.

The Bo Bunny lime polka dot and a teal card stock seem to show him off well, I wanted to pop-dot a stream of snowflakes in the same colors so I cut the snowflakes from white and used the Copic markers to color the snowflakes. I variegated them primarily in purple, but added the lime and teal as accents. I added a few clear jewels and MM pewter snowflakes to add a metal embellishment.

As you can see the Cottage Cutz rubber stamp has nice thin, clear lines and a far amount of room to color. Giving you all kinds of opportunity to be creative.

This little tag was a quick-y that I did at midnight last Saturday. I wanted to use the Cardinal Stamp from Cottage Cutz and if I was to asleep to stay within the lines no one would notice. Well. . I didn't do to bad. I colored the Holly leaves and bird with Copic makers, than added a calendar circle stamp in the upper corner (DEC 25) with seasons greetings in the other two corners. Than added a pine branch in between. Than went crazy with two shades of green and red Tin Holtz ink. Last I added the Distress Crackle paint, Clear Rock Candy over the bird and holly. Last added a bit of Smooch Spritz in Gold. (I may have gotten more smooch on me than the tag!) I by that point I was down to only having one eye open.

Home for the Holidays

How cute is this Reindeer Stables Die?! It is such a fun and unique shape. Plus, it is so perfect with the other North Pole Cottage Cutz shapes like the Christmas Shoppe, Gingerbread House, and the Elf Workshop.

I was dying to get my hands on this one and start playing. Despite it's detailed appearance, it was not nearly as difficult to put together as it looks! The stables are all one piece as is the dark wood trim.

And to make this shape even better, it comes with stamps to make creating the stables and reindeer names plaques. These little stamps are so quick and easy to use, too. And ALL of the reindeer names are included!!! Not just the ones you see in the picture so you can customize the stables with any of the reindeer names you would like.

I'm not sure if you can tell from the picture or not, but I used a tiny red rhinestone for Rudolph's nose. Fun and easy way to add a little bling to this shape! I also used white glitter cardstock for the snow pieces to give them that snowy shimmer. I cut the reindeer out of brown fuzzy paper which adds some really nice texture.

Pumpkin Harvest Time

Well, it's a little past pumpkin harvest time, but I've still got a few Fall cards to share that I've made with my Cottage Impressions and Cottage Cutz.  Today's card features the Cottage Impressions Crows stamp set, and the Mini Pumpkin Cottage Cutz die.  The pumpkins were cut with colored card stock this time, and both were colored with Copic markers. 

For the leaves, I used my Martha Stewart Oak Leaf Punch and scrap card stock.  I used the stippling technique to color the crows, to give them more of a textured look, and I finished this card off with some bronze colored pearls, grosgrain ribbon, and a little faux stitching/doodling around the edges of the panels.  It's a fairly simple card, that has so much of what I love about Fall included.  I'm really starting to get into the Christmas spirit, so it won't be long till I'm sharing plenty of Christmas cards/projects.  I even put my tree up last night.  No decorations as of yet, but it's up, and MUCH bigger than it looked in the box!!!!  I didn't think I'd ever get all the branches fluffed and in the right place.  Have you had a chance to check out the newest holiday releases at The Scrapping Cottage?  There are so many adorable dies and Impressions stamps that will be perfect for your holiday cards, projects and layouts.  Check them out today!!

Let it SNOW

Are you having cold weather where you live? Cold weather is here and, in my neck of the woods, that means snow will soon be here as well. Every year but one that I can remember we have had our first snow the week of Thanksgiving. Temps are indicating we could be right on schedule this year too, but I guess we'll have to wait and see. I love it..... from the warmth of my cozy little house, that is. LOL

So with snow not far off, I decided to use the cute snowman doll from the Scrapping Cottage-Peachy Keen collaboration release. He looks so cute on this bookmark I made for one of the grandgirls. I love the snowman's cute chubbyness and sweet little face. The scan isn't the best but you can see the full project this way.

I used my white pen to add snow to the trees, and topped it with Martha Stewart coarse crystal glitter. I used the glitter on the trim of his hat too. And for final touches, I used my copics to add a little more depth and shadow, and for his rozy cheeks!

Bookmarks are so quick and easy to make. And fun too! Go on and give it a try. :)
