Present Under the Tree

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Saturday edition of the Blog.

We have a new release of dies over at the online store. Our Autumn 2018 dies are here with 10 new designs. They are currently 25% off for a limited time.

This week the design team has been featuring cards using the exclusive Dakota the Husky die. If you missed those cards your can see them here, here and here. The die is only available in our online store. You won't be able to buy him at any retailers who may sell CottageCutz dies.

So let's get started on some details of how I created my card.

Step 1:  When I saw this die, I thought how cute it would be to have a puppy under the tree on Christmas. So that's where I went with my card. I created an indoor scene. I chose some striped patterned paper for wall paper and a woodgrain paper to resemble wood flooring.

Step 2: I started my die cutting. The Handmade Tree w/Presents die was used for my tree. It is part of the Christmas Part 3 release. I just love these stitched dies. They are very detailed and so on trend with the farmhouse look that is all the rage right now.
I wanted the sentiment to read from Santa. I thought the Stitched Alphabet die would work for some big Santa lettering and then the from phrase would be stamped.  I die cut the letters in a medium green cardstock (gumball green).
I stamped the "from" phrase with the help of my MISTI on the same gumball green cardstock.
Dakota the Husky was cute with white and gray cardstock. I thought the Santa hat would be so right for him since he is a present.
Step 3: Now that all my card elements are cut and stamped, it's time for card assembly. I started with the card background and attached with double sided tape.

I attached my images with dimensional adhesive. I wanted more of a 3D look and have them lifted off my faux wallpaper background.
I attached the Santa Phrase on an angle for interest. Used Ranger multi medium matte as the adhesive. The from phrase sentiment was attached with dimensional adhesive.
And that's my card for this week. I hope I have given you an idea for using our new Dakota the Husky die.
Tune in again tomorrow because Anja will have another really cute sample for your viewing pleasure.

See you next Saturday!

Congratulations on Your New Fur Baby!

Hello Cottage Cutz fans!  It's Jeanne today with a card featuring Dakota the Husky, a die exclusive to the Scrapping Cottage website.  He has been featured several times this week.  The die comes with reindeer antlers and a Santa hat for use at Christmas but you can also use him anytime of the year!
What a fun way to say congratulations to a friend on their new fur-baby!  This is a simple card to make but is adorable.
I started by die cutting Dakota from white and grey card stock and my frame from red.  I used a black marker to color his nose and eyes.  I decided to make this a very graphic card using minimal colors.  Since Huskies are grey and white I opted for a black (grey), white and red theme.

Next, I cut a panel of black card stock slightly smaller than my frame and heat embossed the sentiment in white.
I glued the frame to the panel along with Dakota.
Then I dry embossed a white panel that is 5 3/8 x 4 1/8 inches using a paw print embossing folder.  I tied a hounds tooth ribbon around the panel.
The frame with Dakota is popped off that panel using foam tape and I glued the whole panel to a red top folding A2 card base.

Dakota is only available at the Scrapping Cottage and the new Autumn dies are on sale for a limited time, so be sure to visit the website!

Fall Color

Good Morning Scrapping Friends!

Hello it is Pam creating on the blog with you today!

Thanksgiving is such a wonderful holiday.  It gives us time to stop and reflect on how blessed we are.  And after giving our thanks we get to enjoy a yummy meal with family and friends.

I am almost finished with my Thanksgiving cards but I could not resist making one more card with some gorgeous Fall Leaves on it.

Design Steps:
 1.  Cut all pieces out of white card stock using the Fall Leaves dies
 2.  Sponge the leaves with TH Distressed inks
 3.  After sponged take the leaves and coat them with Versa Mark ink.  After you coat them with ink dip them into clear embossing powder
 4.  Heat set the leaves with your heat gun.  The colors will really pop!
 5.  Use an A2 white card base, cut a slightly smaller piece of black card stock.  Then use a piece of DP and cut it slightly smaller then the black.  Glue the black and DP to the front of the white card base
 6. Cut a dove tail black banner 5 x 2 3/4 inch and then a slightly smaller piece of burlap to layer over the black

7.  Begin to layer the leaves onto the banner working from the bottom to the top.  Cut out the brown twigs using the Cardinal & Bird die tuck them into the leaves as shown.  Add the sentiment and button then your card is complete
