As Autumn is fast approaching the holidays, my heart turn towards all the gatherings with family and friends.  I wanted to capture this in my art journal.
I die cut the Cottage Cutz Christmas Floral.
I used watercolors to color in the die cuts.  For the small pieces of the greenery, it helped to use my paper piercer to hold the die cut in place as I painted it.
I pop doted the container on the cardboard and assembled then rest of the floral arrangement.  I added ribbons, twill, lace and buttons to complete.

Wishing you a creative day, dear friends.

Happy Valentine's Day

Hello everyone!

Happy New Year!  I wish all of you good health, happiness and lots of crafting in the new year.  It's Donna here to share with you a Valentine card.  There are several newly released Valentine dies that you just have to see.  Go over to the CottageCutz store and check them out.  Check out the blog also, because some of the Design Team members have made some beautiful cards with the new dies.

I am using the Puppy with Valentine and Kitty Love Mail on my card.  These sets are adorable and so easy to assemble.  See below on how I put my card together.

Here is how I put my card together:

I cut all the pieces I need for the Puppy with Valentine die.  It's so nice because I was able to use all scrap pieces of paper to cut this out.  It does not take much paper for this die.

Here I assembled the dog and inked him.  I used the black pen to color in the eyes and the white pen to make the pupils.

I cut all the pieces I needed for the Kitty Love Mail, again I used all scrap pieces of paper.  I inked all my edges and assembled the mailbox.  I decided not to use the flowers.  I used the CottageCutz 7" Grass Border for the grass.

Here I wanted to show you that I used a tool made by Spellbinder called "Tool in One" to push all the small pieces of paper out of the die. If you don't have one of these, this is a great tool to have.

To finish the card off, I added the clouds from the CottageCutz "Clouds & Sun" die and added my sentiment using the CottageCutz "Happy" die.

Thank you so much for stopping by, please come back again soon.

Happy Halloween

Hello everyone,

It's Donna here sharing another one of the newest Fall CottageCutz dies that was released in August. If you missed it, you can find the collection of Fall dies here. I am using the Haunted Castle that has so many possibilities. If you have not looked through the blog, please do there are so many wonderful projects by the talented design team.

 Here is my card:

Closer look from the side. I used pop dots to give the house some dimension. I also cut the ghost out in white so they would stand out. I cut yellow paper so the house looks like there is light inside the house.

Closer look of the ghost and the house.

How I created my card:

1. A2 size card 4 1/4 x 5 1/2,

2. I cut all my pieces out,

3. Also used water color paint to make my background on water color paper,

4. I cut the water color paper down to 4 3/4 x 3 3/4,

5. I die cut the largest Stitched Wide Rectangle Frame, and adhered it to the water color paper,

6. I cut a 1/2 inch stripe of paper and a thin piece of orange paper and adhered it to the back of the Rectangle Frame,

7. I added the haunted house and the sentiment to the water color paper,

8. I added the frame to the base of the card.

9. I finished the card off by adding some clear sentiments.

Thanks again for stopping by, please stop over at the Scrappin Cottage blog to see all the beautiful designs from the other design team members. Don't forget about our newest challenge that is running right now. The theme is holiday and here is a link for more information.

A Bouquet of Flowers for you!

Hello everyone,

It's Donna here sharing another beautiful card using the CottageCutz dies!  As Janja said on Tuesday, May is the month for flower's to bloom, you know the old saying "April showers, bring May flowers".  On my card, I am playing with distress inks, watercolor paint and watercolor paper.  Just a mixture of everything!

Here is how I put my card together....

  • Card base  is an A2 (4 1/4 x 5 1/2)
  • Double stitched rectangle die first and third (from the largest)
  • Center inked piece is the center piece from the rectangle

Since I do not have the stitched wide rectangle dies by CottageCutz, I had to make one with the double stitched rectange dies.  I die cut my frame using these two dies at the same time.  I used some repositional tape so the dies would not slip.

I cut the frame out twice so I could use the frame as a mask to ink up my background.  You could also use painters tape to do this.

I used some distress ink on cardstock so I could die cut my leaves.  I often ink or use water color paints on a large sheets of paper and that way I can have some for projects later.  This is what I did with the flowers.  The flowers are die cut out of watercolor paper that I used watercolor paints.

Here are a couple of the flowers I had some leftover watercolor paper that I used to cut the flowers out.  I used my rolling tool some my flowers would not be flat.

I cut the vase out with vellum and after I finished cutting all my dies, I assembled my card.  I really like how it came out.  What do you think?  I hope you will hop on over to the store and see what might fit your fancy.

A Sailor's Hello

Hello everyone,

It's Donna here to share with you how to make a square box card. I have lots of pictures to share with you so sit down with a cup of coffee to check out my tutorial. This card box was so much fun to make and I love these sailior dies with lots of other dies that go perfect with them. Here is my square box card.

Here is a closer look of all the elements....a list of each die I used is at the bottom of this post.

Let's get started on how I put this square box card together. To put this box together you will need a cutting board, score board, bone folde, and liquid glue or score tape.  Pictures are below the instructions for your viewing.

1. You will need your cardstock cut to 6" x 12" (I cut a 12 x 12 inch cardstock in half)

2. You will need to score your card stock on the short side at 2", 6", 7 5/8" and 11 1/2. Turn your sheet on the long side and score at 2 7/8 down to the score line of 7 5/8".

3. Take your scissors or cutting board and cut the 2", 6" and 7 5/8 score line down to the 2 7/8 score line (half way down). Cut the 11 1/2 score line half way down. So now you are ready to add your paper to the base of the square box card.

4. This is a picture of the inside of the box. You will need one piece of cardstock cut at 5 5/8" x 3 5/8"4 pieces of cardstock cut at 1 7/8" x 2 3/4 and two pieces at 3 5/8" x 2 3/4". As you can see I used several different patterns.

5. This is a picture of the outside of the box. I used the same measurements I used for the inside of the box.

6. This is your finish box. You will tape the small tab around so that the box closes up.

7.  The box is almost complete.

To put the tabs inside of the card you will need a piece of white card stock 1" x 4 5/8" scored at 1/2" and 4 1/4".  The last step is to cut all your pieces from your dies and put them together and attach them inside the box card.

The card is complete! I hope you will take a shot at making a box card, they are so much fun.
