Enjoy...It's Your Special Day!

Hello!  This is Sukie and today I have a beach themed card to share.  I used the Surf Shack and Day at the Beach die sets.  Both of the die sets are from the latest Beach & Tropical die release.

I created a beachy background for my card by ink blending some Oxide Inks.  The bottom portion of my card was splattered with some paint for a sandy look on the beach.
The die cuts were also shaded with some Oxide Inks and then adhered to my card base creating a fun and whimsical scene.

The Beach Life

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Saturday edition of the Blog.

We have a brand new release of Beach & Tropical dies in the online store. We have 14 new designs in this release and they are currently on sale for a limited time at 25% off.

They are so perfect for creating beach themed birthday cards, thank you, thinking of you etc. Let your imagination soar! The Design Team has been showing some great samples to spark your creativity. If you haven't seen them, look back on the Blog for lots of eye candy.

For my card today, I am using the Surf Shack die and I created a thank you card for my son. He lives at the beach and is a surfer so this card is perfect for him.
He just sent us a new television. Not that we were looking for one but now that it's here we have to decide where to put it.
We already have a wall mounted set in our living room and we aren't sure we want to mess with taking it down. But we will figure something out.

Design Steps:
I started off by die cutting the surf shack in various colors of card stock. You could also cut in white and color with your favorite medium.
Next, I started creating the background. For the clouds I used a cloud stencil and tumbled glass distress ink. I cut this image panel from white cardstock at 4 1/2 x 5 3/4"
For the water, I used salty ocean distress inks and the sand was sponged with crumb cake ink
For added interest, I stamped some sand granules with a caramel ink.
And then stamped The Beach Life sentiment in a denim blue ink. I used my MISTI and stamped the sentiment 3x to get a darker image.
Now that all the elements are prepared I am ready to start card assembly. I added the Surf Shack images onto the beach background. Everything is secured with double sided tape and Ranger multi medium matte. I used double sided tape to attach the image panel to the white card base.
Card Base:  4 1/2" x 5 3/4".
That completes my card. I hope I have given you some inspiration for a way to use this die. See you next Saturday!

Good Day Sunshine

Hello!  This is Sukie and I'm sharing a card using the new Cottage Cutz die sets. I wanted to mix up a couple of the die sets from the Beach & Tropical die release which is currently on sale!
I used the Surfboard SUV and a palm tree from the Surf Shack die set to create this beach theme card.
I started by creating the background by blending some bold Oxide Ink colors replicating a bright and sunny beach day.  The circle also got some inking and was stamped with fun sentiment.  The hand cut hill was also shaded with some ink.
Next I created the scene by adding the oversized sun on the top of my card and layering the hand cut hill along the bottom edge.
I'm loving the cool background!  It served as the perfect backdrop for the coordinating Surfboard SUV.
I pieced together the palm tree and affixed it to my card.  The oversized palm is perfect for towering over this beachy scene!
The final card is a bold and beautiful beach scene which is perfect for an all occasion card!
